       Progress Update

       Wednesday of this week, I installed a bunch of stuff on my engine.
       Pushrod covers, timing cover, water pump, thermostat upper and lower
       housing with thermostat, fuel pump, and harmonic balancer. It felt
       good to get a chunk of work done. Thursday, a friend from an internet
       forum that I'd never met came by the house to talk about trucks. He
       has a workshop and a few different trucks, and is pretty knowledgable.
       I wonder what he does for a living that he can afford to have multiple
       project vehicles and rent out workshop space.
       
       Anyway, I talked to him for an hour or two, but didn't really make
       much progress on my engine. I was worried that my balancer wasn't
       installed all the way, so I mounted up the alternator and fan pulley.
       Things are pretty well lined up, I'm going to call it good enough. I
       took the alternator off again and cleaned it up with a wire brush.
       There was a lot of grey dust on it, I'm not sure from what. It looks
       better now -- definitely not like new but sufficient.
       
       I started this project back in August, pulling the motor on August
       18th. I guess that means about 5.5 months so far. I haven't gotten to
       enjoy driving the truck, and today, that really hit me. Projects are
       fun, but I want to drive the damn thing. I feel like I'm at a low
       point of the rebuild, in terms of morale. Probably in part because my
       leave from work is drawing to an end soon, and I have to go back to
       the grind. Daycare is closed tomorrow, so I won't really get an
       opportunity to make progress again until next Monday. Clock is
       ticking.
