Weather Situation A significant complex low pressure system will move over SA from the west during today, then over the eastern states on Friday. A high pressure system will move over SA over the weekend then move eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea later on Monday. Forecast for the rest of Thursday 17 October Showers and gusty, possibly severe thunderstorms extending across from the west. Areas of raised dust about the pastoral districts. Fresh and gusty east to northeasterly winds turning northwesterly and strengthening ahead of a fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly change in the west. Maximum temperatures well above average ahead of the southwesterly change. Forecast for Friday 18 October Showers about the south and east, becoming less frequent late afternoon then clearing during the evening. Isolated thunderstorms about eastern border districts, contracting eastwards during the day. Fresh and gusty southwesterly winds extending throughout, tending southwest to southeasterly in the evening and easing. Maximum temperatures above average in the far east and far north but below average elsewhere following the southwesterly change. Forecast for Saturday 19 October Dry apart from isolated light showers about the Lower South East coast. Maximum temperatures near average. Fresh southwest to southeasterly winds easing. Forecast for Sunday 20 October Dry. Maximum temperatures increasing to above average. Southeast to northeasterly winds and afternoon sea breezes near the coast. Cumulative rainfall totals to the end of Sunday: less than 5 mm but local falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible. Falls of 10 to 20 mm are likely about central and eastern parts of the southern agricultural area. Local falls of 10 to 30 mm with thunderstorms. Outlook for Monday 21 October to Wednesday 23 October Possible showers in the far west on Monday, slowly extending eastwards during Tuesday and Wednesday.
