Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge lies across much of the state, extending from a high
pressure system in the Tasman Sea. The ridge will persist for the next few
days. A weak trough lies across the southeastern interior of Queensland. The
trough will weaken today. A deeper trough may move east across western and
interior Queensland from Friday, reaching southeastern and central Queensland
over the weekend. This trough is likely to drive shower and thunderstorm
activity as it moves eastwards.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 17 October
Sunny day. The chance of a thunderstorm near the New South Wales border later
tonight. Winds north to northeasterly 25 to 35 km/h tending north to
northwesterly in the morning then tending north to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h
in the late evening. Daytime maximum temperatures in the mid to high 30s.

temperatures falling to between 18 and 26 with daytime temperatures reaching
the mid to high 30s.
