Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge lies across much of the state, extending from a high
pressure system in the Tasman Sea. The ridge will persist for the next few
days. A weak trough lies across the southeastern interior of Queensland. The
trough will weaken today. A deeper trough may move east across western and
interior Queensland from Friday, reaching southeastern and central Queensland
over the weekend. This trough is likely to drive shower and thunderstorm
activity as it moves eastwards.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 17 October
Sunny. Winds east to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures
34 to 40.

Forecast for Friday 18 October
Sunny. Winds north to northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h becoming light in the middle
of the day then becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the late
evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 16 and 21 with daytime
temperatures reaching 34 to 39.

Forecast for Saturday 19 October
Mostly sunny. Slight chance of a shower about the Gregory Ranges in the
afternoon and evening. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere. Winds northwest to
northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h tending northwest to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h
during the day then tending southeast to southwesterly during the afternoon.
Overnight temperatures falling to between 16 and 22 with daytime temperatures
reaching the mid to high 30s.
