Weather Situation North to northwesterly winds across southern NT ahead of a deepening trough over Western Australia is causing hot to very hot conditions to extend from the Top End to southern parts of the NT. It will be very windy through the southern districts this morning before the trough moves through overnight and tomorrow. Showers and storms will clear from the south on the weekend as the trough continues moving north, and will lie across the Gregory and Carpentaria Districts from Sunday. Forecast for the rest of Thursday 17 October Mostly sunny in the Carpentaria, eastern Barkly and southern Arnhem Districts. A slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. Damaging wind gusts are possible with thunderstorms in the eastern Lasseter and southwest Simpson Districts. The chance of morning fog in the eastern Arnhem and eastern Carpentaria Districts. Very hot in the Simpson and southeast Barkly Districts and in parts of the southern Arnhem and northern Carpentaria Districts. Light to moderate north to northwest winds, tending moderate to fresh and gusty south of Elliott. Possible strong and gusty winds south of Alice Springs during the day.
