                  New Powerful Earthquake Rocks Northern Italy

   Another deadly earthquake has struck the same northern Italian region
   devastated by an earthquake just over a week ago.
   The U.S. Geological Survey says a 5.8 magnitude quake struck early
   Tuesday about 40 kilometers north-northwest of Bologna in the
   Emilia-Romagna region.  Local news reports say at least nine people
   have been killed, while several others are believed to be trapped in
   the rubble of collapsed homes and buildings.
   Tuesday's quake was said to be felt across much of central and northern
   Italy.
   The region was struck by a 6.0 magnitude quake on May 20 that killed
   seven people, destroyed factories and historic structures, and left
   scores of residents homeless.  The quake also caused millions of
   dollars in losses to the region's agriculture sector, which is famous
   for its Parmigiano Reggiano cheeses.
