Sierra Leone Abolishes Colonial-Era Death Penalty

Sierra Leone has abolished the death penalty. It's the 23rd African
country to do so. Advocates in Sierra Leone say capital punishment was a
brutal remnant of colonialism and that the recent vote could serve as as
example for the United States.
