ENJOY! =============================================================================== 03) ABOUT CLEOPATRA FORTUNE: Cleopatra Fortune is Taito's latest take on the falling block puzzle genre that includes other titles such as Tetris, Columns, and Taito's own Pala Medes. It first appeared in Japanese arcades in 1996 as a cartridge for the Taito F3 Package System. A home version exists for the Sega Saturn (Japan only). Taito has licensed CF to Altron for home conversions. It is coming to the PlayStation on May 17, 2001 and the Sega Dreamcast on June 7, 2001. =============================================================================== 04) GAME START: Two game types are available in Cleopatra Fortune: 1-Player Puzzle If you pick this mode, the level select screen will appear. You can start at level 1, 20, or 50. If you start from level 20, you begin with 100,000 points. Starting from level 50 will begin your game with 500,000 points. 2-Player Battle Your typical battle mode/match play like that seen in a Tetris game. Make your opponent lose in order to win. :D =============================================================================== 05) GAME PLAY: -The Controls- Cleopatra Fortune uses a joystick and just ONE button. Left & Right- Move cluster in that direction Down- Make a cluster drop faster Button 1- Rotate the cluster clockwise When a piece drops onto another, you will hear a clud. If one piece of the cluster is blocked and cannot descend further, the others in it can fall separately. You can even begin to move a cluster just before it appears on the screen. If you don't move it beforehand, it will appear in the 4th (center) column. -Pieces- Clusters of pieces will fall from the top of the screen. _____________________________________________________________ LEGEND: | X 1x1 | ZZ 1x2 | G Gem | TT King Tut | m Small Mummy | | block| block | | | | |_________|__________|_________|______________|_______________| | MM Large Mummy | |_____________________________________________________________| As you attain higher levels in the game, new types of clusters will begin to make their appearances. A cluster will usually have more than one type of piece in it. Here are some of the clusters you'll encounter early on: XG ZZG ZZ XX XXX GG G XT G X XG T Please know that a 1x2 will work differently than a cluster of two 1x1s. If one of the pieces in the latter is blocked, the other one will freefall down the pit until it too is blocked. -Getting Rid of Pieces- Blocks: Line them up Tetris style to get rid of them. Z XXXXXXX XXXZZXX XXXZXXX The first example is straightforward. In the 2nd example, a 1x2 is used to fill 2 horizontal spaces. In the 3rd one, the 1x2 will disappear completely with all the 1x1s even though part of it is jutting out. Gems: There are two ways. GGGGGGG If you make a horizontal line of 7 gems, it will disappear. XZZXX XX G ZZ ZZXXXX "Boxing in" gems will also cause them to vanish. You may use the walls and floors as a part of your boxes. NOTE: Box-ins are the ONLY way to get rid of King Tuts. When you box in a Mummy, you must have a gem or a King Tut in the box with it. Otherwise, it isn't going anywhere. Mummies can also be lined up in this manner to dispose of them: M M MmMMmmm mmmmmmm <- OK mmmMmmM <- OK MXXXXXX <- OK In each of these examples above, a horizontal line of 7 is formed. The below example will NOT work, because the mummies don't form a horizontal line of 7: mM XMmmmmm <- NO GOOD! THE GOLDEN PYRAMID: This is a RARE item that doesn't make its first appearance until level 10. Whatever you touch with it, all other similar pieces will disappear. -Perfect- If you clear the screen of all objects, you will get a "Perfect" bonus of 5000 X the current level number. -Chains- If you eliminate a piece that's supporting other pieces, the others will drop. This can result in a chain. Here's a quick example: X The King Tut in this example has an 1X1 above it. ZZTTX XXX XXX ======= Z A piece (in this case, a 1x2 block) is dropped in XZ there. The King Tut will be gone (1 hit), and ZZTTX the 1x1 will drop into the gap causing a line of XXX XXX blocks (2 hits). ======= The 1x2 that was just set down will fall as well... Z And this is what's left. ZZ ZX ======== Longer chains are possible. Here are some chain bonuses if you get 5 hits or more: 5.... 500,000 6.... 600,000 7.... 700,000 This is an even greater source of points than a Perfect. However, it can get tough to make long chains whenever the pieces are falling fast. -2P Battle- A 2nd player may join the game at any time. The current 1P game will be terminated and Match Play commences. After the Match Play, the 1P game will resume unless another player joins in on the loser's side. DUMPED BLOCKS IN 2P BATTLE: As you get Chains or other matches, you can cause pieces to be dumped on the opponent. The pieces that are in your opponent's pit will be jacked up one or more rows, with new rows revealed at the bottom.
