Items (Not finished) - E. Weapons (Not finished) - F. Abnormal states Part 2 - A. Important notice - B. Walkthrough Part 3 - A. Future update plans - B. History - C. Special thanks ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ==== Part One =============================================================== ---- (A) Weights ------------------------------------------------------------ Every magic, item, and weapon has its own weight which you should be aware of. The heavier you are the lower your movement speed and jump height. You also receive lower small attack damage. However, you'll cause more damage with heavy attacks. If you are light, the opposite occurs. Greater speed, higher jump, an larger small attack damage. But, inversely your heavy attack will cause less damage. (I haven't noticed this much though, Raiko jumps pretty high even if he is quite heavy. So don't worry to much about that). ---- (B) Gaining goods ------------------------------------------------------ These things beneath. Magics, items and weapons can be bought from a shop (Shi kagami no hokora) or found in the stages. ---- (C) Magics ------------------------------------------------------------- In world the of O-TO-GI magics are known as "Fujutsu." You can see your magic power (Furyoku) in the inner ring of your health meter (that purple thingy). In order to use magic (besides boost, which is achieved by pressing the right trigger) you have to equip an accessory (Reifu). There's 3 levels of each magic. The higher the level, the greater the damage (more flashy too). There are 4 types of magic. They are as follows; Genbu; Souryu; Suzaku and Byakko. Genbu is an ice based magic, it's colour, blue. Genbu unleashes a pretty butterfly type thing (although I found this magic least useful). Souryu is a lightning based magic, it's colour, purple. Souryu unleashs dragon(s)ยด. Normal attack unleashs small dragons while charged up ones unleashs one big dragon. (Which I found quite cool. Anyone seen Yu-Yu-Hakusho?) Suzaku is a fire based magic, it's colour, red. Suzaku unleashs phoenix. Byakko is also a lightning based magic, it's colour, green. Byakko does not unleash a magic with an animal likeness (I wanted a tiger as the name suggests) Instead, a curtain of lightning surrounds your character. So it's not effectiv as a distant magic. It is however, a pretty good magic if you are surrounded by lower level enemies, allowing you to clear the area. If you are charged by an enemy, every lightning bolt increases in size, making the protective curtain thicker. Bear in mind that every magic has pros and cons:- :---------------------: | Byakko <---> Souryu | | | | Genbu <---> Suzaku | :---------------------: So if you have Souryu (as I always have) you'll acquire more damage against enemies who uses Byakko magics. But you'll take more damage from Byakko based magic attacks. Also, if you use magic agaist enemies you using the same type of magic, damages will be halved. BTW, if you don't have any magic equipped, you are neutral. There is enemies who has a magic class, named Ouryu, and they won't be affected by any magic attacks. Ouryu is a monster only class (you yourself cannot have it). ---- (D) Items -------------------------------------------------------------- Items are good... if they protect you from evil things that otherwise may happen to you.. it's very good. I'm sorry to tell you. But, I don't have complete list of items :( Here's some items that you can gain/buy in each stage:- - Byakuja no kubikazari - Weight 10 - This goody looks like a white snake, entwined around a crystal by a spell. You can buy it after completing stage ???. It will protect you against burns. (Notice: This protects against normal fires, nothing more). - Senju no udewa - Weight 20 - Looks like a peanut shell with ropes hanging from it. Increases attack points. - Zuikou no gyokutai - Weight 50 - Looks like a choker with a ball hanging from it. (It's hard to explain these items using words). Increases defence against magic attacks. - Hankou kyo - Weight 40 - Looks like a mirror. You'll find this item at Stage 16 under a bridge. If your health is low, it increases attack power, magic attack power and defence. - Mushikui no suzu - Weight 420 - This is "the baby." It looks like a globe with a bell inside it. It will protect you from everything (except death ... Duh). You can buy it after completing Stage 17. BUY IT! I can't stress this enough. Even black fires won't bite you and that is a VERY good thing indeed. The description of it says that your health recovery will be slower, but I haven't noticed any major recovery rate hit. - Chuuki no kyobun - Weight 30 - Looks like a bunch of scrolls (it is in fact scrolls). It will increase your magic attacks, the effect of it will increase along with your level. - Shoukon no zou - Weight 660 - Looks like a Buddha statue necklace. It will increase of spirit orb amounts. (You know that colourful balls that appeares after you killed enemies?) I don't know why, but it's VERY expensive. And I mean it. Tried once, but I didn't notice any huge spirit increase. Do what ever you like, but I wouldn't recommend buying, but then again, I'm not you. Bear in mind that it is heavy and won't protect you against fires neither... >:S ---- (E) Weapons ------------------------------------------------------------ Weapons... weapons... they're the things that you hold it in your hands... and slap/smack/whack things into oblivion. (Some buildings can't be destroyed though. What's up with that really?!) Now, here's some of them. Notice that not all of them are included yet:- - Swords - - Houkon no tsurugi - Weight 210 - This is the sword that you start with. It is actually a very good sword and you don't need anything more substantial until a bit later in the game. The weird thing with this sword is the scary cost of the repairs. - Fuuki no tsurugi - Weight 190 - Looks like a sword, with blood stains. This is my personal favorite. It will raise your attack power when your health is low. - Koudan no daitou - Weight 200 - Looks like a large Chinese kitchen knife. It will raise your defence and you can go pretty long with it without repairing. Another good sword. - Raisetsu - Weight 190 - If you look at the detail of this sword, you can see thunder-bolts in background. This sword is like glass, it breaks quite easy, but can cut deep. - Zen no hane - Weight 90 - This sword looks... very orange. It also sounds kinda hollow when you swing it. This sword increases your health recovery rate, and makes you jump higher. But somehow, I think that the swinging area for this sword is just too small. - Big Swords - - Fudouhakukatana - Weight 390 - You will receive this sword after defeating the boss from Stage 12. This sword will lower the defence of your enemies. This should be a good sword, but I don't know, it has just too slow attack rate for my taste. - Twin Swords - - Kurotsubame - Weight 150 - These look like twin swords forgd by dark matter. This swords rocks! There is however no special level increase. These can be found in stage 23. - Clubs - - Konryu - Weight 450 - Looks like a golden spiky club. It will unleash devastating power upon enemies. But I like the swords better... - Staffs - - Fire Staff - Weight 210 - I'm sorry about this one, but these Kanji are so rare so I can't even find them in my dictionary. Anyways, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. This staff will set enemies on fire with simply a touch. My weapon of choice in Stage 25. - Houou no tsue - Weight 100 - Looks like a phoenix on a staff. That's right ladies and gents, this staff will enhance Suzaku. However, not suited to attack with it though. - Miscellaneous - - Ikkaku - Weight 350 - I'm not sure if this should be placed under sword or not. It looks pretty spear-like to me. Anyways, this spear is like glass, again, breaks quite easy, but can cut deep. - Twin Axes - Weight 330 - I couldn't read the name of this neither. However, these axes increase your defence. -Fuuryoku no uchiwa - Weight 80 - Looks like a spike wheel on a stick. An attack with this can blast your enemies away. ---- (F) Abnormal states ---------------------------------------------------- There are 6 abnormal states that you should really be careful with. Every one of them will affect you for a limited amount of time. Also, every one of them can be prevented with "Mushikui no suzu". (Read the Item Section for a more detailed description) -- Silence -- Well it's pretty obvious what this is. You can't use magic, I really didn't really "see" until I tried to use magic. Then it hit me. So don't really expect to "see" this. -- Curse -- Looks like you are steaming. Whilst you are cursed, your attack, defence and jump power will be halved. The best tactic is to stay far away from enemies until the curse is gone. -- Fire (Red) -- This is normal fire, it will drain your health in th same fashion. -- Fire (Blue) -- Stronger fire than red one. It will drain you health a little more. You can't prevent this fire with "Byakuja no kubikazari (Snake necklace)" -- Fire (Black) -- This is th strongest of all fires. It seems that a lot of people think that it is some kind of curse. It is not! This is FIRE. Again, this one can not be prevented with "Byakuja no kubikazari (Snake necklace)". -- Frost -- Looks like... hmmm... a white halo surrounding you. It will drain your magic power quicker than usual. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ==== Part Two =============================================================== ---- (A) Important notice --------------------------------------------------- Do you know that "Flying Symbol" thing that Val metioned? (I think that they look like butterfly) there are also blue/dark ones (Note : NOT the red ones that spin). They contain health orbs that make YOUR health orb go up by one form at the NEXT STAGE, if of course you clear the present stage. So MAKE SURE you kill them and gain more health orbs. Stages that contains these will be marked with @ signs around the stage. (look at Stage 1 for example) And as side note: Red Flying symbols sucks. ---- (B) Walkthrough -------------------------------------------------------- -@ Stage 1 @- Enemy(ies) : Bird Grunts, Butterfly Symbol. Objective(s) : Kill all the 8 Bird Grunts Item : No Weapon : No Magic : No Health Orb : Yes This stage is pretty straight forward. You kill everything that moves. Don't forget to kill the lone butterfly symbol, due to the health orb drop, as I previously mentioned. -- Stage 2 -- Enemy(ies) : Bird Grunts, Wizard Bird Grunts, Large Bird soldier (Red) Objective(s) : Kill all (2) Large Bird Soldier Item : No Weapon : No Magic : Yes (Souryu level 1 after killing bosses) Health Orb : No Your mission is kill two Large Bird Soldiers. You can always rush the front, but it can be pretty tough if you haven't mastered Raikos movement. So here's trick, you go left so that you can approach the house from the left side, facing weaker enemies. (That doen't mean that they can't kill you. Remember that). You will find a couple of health recovery weeds, but don't take them as soon as you reach them, you might need them later on. Try to break things along the way (I don't think there were symbols there though). Also try to avoid getting hit by fire magics since they can make you crisper than a BBQ at this stage. Against those two Large Bird Soldiers, use Jump + Jump + Y attack. (I found that was quickest way to kill off these birdies). After you killed both, you will receive level 1 Souryu. -- Stage 3 -- Enemy(ies) : Skeleton Wizards, Flying Skulls, Skull plants, Lion sentry Objective(s) : Break 3 mirrors Item : No Weapon : No Magic : No Health Orb : No This stage is mid sized, so don't worry about your magic running dry. What you basically have to do is break 3 mirrors. You can find them by looking for the flying skull gatherings, there you'll find your mirrors. The mirrors have a white halo around them, so they shouldn't be too difficult to locate. While it shouldn't be that hard, if it happens that you becoming dis-orientated, press Start to consult the map. -@ Stage 4 @- Enemy(ies) : Skeleton Wizards, Flying Skulls, Skull plants, Lion sentries, : Butterfly symbol, Woman statue looks-a-like man (Boss) Objective(s) : Kill Woman statue looks-a-like man Item : No Weapon : No Magic : Yes Health Orb : Yes This stage contains some bottomless drops so watch where you are jumping. It is quite annoying, that, with this map is that the woman statue (that looks like a man) will rain you with fire balls. So I suggest that you go after him as your first run. You can always come back later on a "destroy everything" mission. First go forward, you'll see mid tower is well beneath it. Destroy it and collect level 1 Byakko. Go left and you will see two walls with lion sentries. Ignore them and just jump over these walls. You will then see a lone butterfly symbol. Kill it and collect your fourth health orb. Follow the path and eventually you will come to a statue. Now, it's time to kill/destroy this living statue. Use jump + jump + Y attack. The statue will repel you at first, but just keep doing it (since you are actually damaging it). You may use magic to blast away the skeleton wizards guarding it. (They can be quite annoying when they attack you with their ice magic). -- Stage 5 -- - MORE INFO ON NEXT UPDATE- At Stage 6, try to avoid jump and Y slash down attacks. (Since the arch breaks with that attack and water drains your magic power). I found that you just have to keep running and double jump until the souls (the red burning things) appear. Then you'd better stay calm a while and just wait until they are gone. Your magic of choice should be Souryu. (Dragon lightning) When you reach the thing that looks like TT (<- This one is called "Torii" - a mark for sacred places) use Y attack alot. That will blast off lots of weak enemies. Use charged up magic against boss(es?) After Stage 13, you will receive a sword. That sword lowers enemies defence. Use it to your advantage later (I think that sword is bit too big and slow for my taste though). After Stage 18. Make sure that you buy the BELL NECKLACE. At the Stage 19 boss, he/she/it has a weakness again ageinst Soryu. I hope you have level 2 Souryu magic then. Target it, charge your magic, and blast it away (one of the easiest bosses really). At Stage 23, remember where you started in stage 8? You should. Go there, there will be a flying zombie reptile type thing (That enemy that probably made you mad at Stage 8 BTW) kill it and you'll gain twin swords called "Kuro Tsubame". These swords are one of the best weapons you'll get in the game. So DO NOT FORGET to get it. And yeah, after you have killed a couple of enemies that you are indeed out there to kill, Zeus begins to get the wrong idea and will try to zap you. (Heeeeeey! Watch it!!) I'm not sure if it hurt as bad as zapping did at Stage 9, since I kept moving and lucky enough to avoid all of the lightning attacks. So my tip is, keep moving and don't don't go down the same track if you have to go back for any reason. At Stage 24, pick your best attacking power weapon. (These wolves are quite quick mind you), and repeat jump + jump + Y attacks. Sooner or later some of them will get hit, when you can see them, you can target them. Use magic as lunatic (since normal attack probably won't hit) but remember, don't charge your magic. You won't have time to charge it up. Repeat. At Stage 25... oh damn I really hate that stage... your weapon of choice is a STAFF. Val says twin swords works as well, but a staff covers more area. The best tactic is, you start to swing your staff (With B attack) while you are bit away from souls. They will start to advance towards you and automatically be hit by staff. Leave the soul furthest away from gate until last. That will hopefully give you bit more time. At Stage 28, Val suggests to start at the Water Woman from Stage 6 (a beefed version one however) well I don't. Go for the Wolves first. Crushing glass was not the most easiest thing in this stage... (I had like 9 health orbs or whatever, and came out from there with 3 left). After that, take whoever you like. I suggest Water Woman. You can take her down with 3 charged level 2 Souryu. At Stage 29, it's pretty easy to kill off first and second version of "Da Badman" (He isn't that evil actually) but avoid Slashdown Y attack at any cost. That sometimes makes the ground break beneath you, you will be dead pretty quickly using this method, whilst screaming "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!". The third version of this boss is really hard. Be ready to boost to solid ground if he shoots Dragon magic (I'm not really sure if it's Souryu) since the ground beneath you WILL turn into small rocks and dust. And that is NOT a good thing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ==== Part Three ============================================================= ---- (A) Future update plans ------------------------------------------------ 1 - A more complete list of items, weapons and magic. 2 - Create monsters list. 3 - A grammer check won't really hurt... 4 - Second Coming (play) is still total mystery. 5 - Better ASCII logo of O-TO-GI. 6 - Make this FAQ/Walkthorugh a stand alone version. 7 - Include Japanese signs to make things bit easier (If possible). 8 - Translate background story and voice acting. ---- (B) History ------------------------------------------------------------ 2003-02-01 - Version 1.00 Created 2003-02-01 - Version 1.01 Created - ASCII logo changed - Length of each line changed to 79 - Some correction and changing 2003-02-04 - Version 1.02 Created - Weapon list created - Detailed Walkthrough (partly) created - Future update plans updated - Contents updated 2003-02-06 - Version 1.03 Created - Abnormal states created - Walkthrough updated - Some correction and changing - Future update plans updated - Contents updated 2003-02-08 - Version 1.04 Created - Grammer and typos checked and eliminated (I hope) - Contents updated ---- (C) Special thanks ----------------------------------------------------- Colin Nattrass AKA Vyse for correcting my sucky grammer and typos.
