The English version was made by RPGe, a self-patched stand-alone fully translated rom. I don't think that there is such a cartridge of this game for the original SNES console in the English language. I've had some "looking around" on the English version and found a few major and minor differences between the two versions. The magic translations are different. Some magic's were not the exact Jap to Eng translations, like as if they were just "for the sake". Some dialogues have also been changed and were quite different from the Japanese version. Also, the spelling of Mocona's name (specifically in the menu screen) is Mo_C_ona (with a C) in the Japanese version whereas its Mo_K_ona (with a K) in the English version. I haven't noticed much changes or differences yet.If you see any, please tell me immediately so I can put the information on this part. A NOTE REGARDING ROMS AND EMULATORS: Some people are concerned about the legality of these roms and the use of emulators. While I do not promote the use of these, I personally think that it should be okay for the case of SNES, since the sales for this system are very low right now anyway. Besides that, what are they made for, anyway? For use, right? Though roms are actually created for back-up purposes and to avoid the total downfall of these games, and that they should only be used if you have the original cartridges, I think using them even if you don't own the cartridges isn't bad at all. The creation of these roms and emulators would only be put to waste if they won't be used. Simply said, Pandora Box and/or Tomy isn't loosing any money by letting you play this game the emulation way. And as for the English version by RPGe TRANSLATIONS, I approve of playing fan translations. Accordingly, you won't be probably buying the game anyway if you can't understand it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ___ / I \_________________________________________________________________________ ============================================================================== TABLE OF CONTENTS ============================================================================== 1. Set in a world of magic, you play three, young ladies coming from the real world, swallowed into the other dimension by the Princess' wish. The game plays like the Breath of Fire series, with battle scenes being almost identical. The traditional HP/MP meters and experience points still exist, and the MAGIC's certainly play an important role in the game. However, there aren't any shops where you could get to buy armor and weaponry. Instead, it has been replaced by an upgrade system, wherein your weapons and armor change and become more powerful as the story progresses. Of course, save points could never be taken out. Another element of the game which is more or less the same with Breath of Fire is the Mashin Summoning. In the later part of the game, when all three Mashins have been revived, your characters will be able to summon their own Mashins. Instead of dragons, you will be able to call upon robot-like winged entities to attack your opponents, and in Fuu's case, to empower the Kishi's as well. The designers could've made the graphics a lot better though. The special effects and animations kinda suck, and some magic's don't even look like what they should be. But beyond all these, the game is still great. If you like MAHOU KISHI REIASU (Japanese for "MAGIC KNIGHT RAYEARTH"), then I might recommend you play the Breath of Fire Saga (BOF 1 & 2 for the SNES and 3 & 4 for the PSX). Hope you enjoy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MY PERSONAL RATINGS FOR THE GAME: Storyline: 7.7/10 - Yeah, it is based on the Anime, but the plot is just like the old-time rescue-the-Princess RPG's. It's not that much of a stereotype, but in one way or another it is. Graphics: 7.0/10 - It is good compared to old NES games, but somehow, the images are too "soft", and the graphics for the magic attacks kinda suck. It's somehow impossible to determine if a certain magic is really wind or something else... ^_^ Music: 7.0/10 - It's okay. The music is tolerable. Won't break your eardrums anyway ^,^. Game Play: 7.9/10 - Very easy to master. But maybe they could've made it a lot better if they made it longer. Overall: 7.7/10 - It is enjoyable... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HERE's A TECHNICAL DATA ABOUT THE GAME AND THE ROM: ______________________________________________________ |-------------MAHOU-KISHI-REIASU-GAME-DATA-------------| | | |Console: SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) | |Genre: Role-Playing (RPG) | |Players: One | |Save Y/N: Yes | |Publisher: Pandora Box/Tomy | |Year: 1995 | |-------------MAHOU-KISHI-REIASU-ROM--DATA-------------| | | |ROM Type: SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) | |ROM Size: 1,573,376b | |Save RAM: Yes | ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _____ _______/ 1.1 \________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ STORY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Help us....." They do not possess any magical abilities, but their strength makes up for the loss of such useful quality. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lafarga - He was Princess Emeraude's bodyguard. He protected the Princess at all times and did not let any harm get to her. Very loyal to his duty, Lafarga is Emeraude's guardian and number one knight. He possesses intense strength and is very skilled with the sword. He never failed to defend Cephiro's Pillar for he guarded her at all times, until he lost to Zagato's power and had the evil Shinto Priest capture the poor Princess. He then swore forever to get Emeraude back from the hands of Zagato. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ferio - Being Princess Emeraude's brother, Ferio is Cephiro's prince. But he wanted to live a normal life, so he asked his sister to erase his memory of royalty so that he may wander the land as a normal Cephiro civilian. But as his memories returned due to the slowly weakening powers of the Princess, he had to save his sister, and he knew that the only way to do that was to become a Magic Knight. He journeyed in search of the Escudo to start out his mission, until he realized that he was not meant to be one for there had already been three ladies who were destined to inherit the power of the Mahou Kishi's. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______ _____________________________________/ 1.2.3 \________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ZAGATO'S EX-HENCHMEN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ These are enemies who will turn their backs from evil and join you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ascot - As a monster summoner, he was an outcast of society. Nobody wanted him and people hated him. He was believed to be a cursed child, having no friends other than the monsters that he summon. Due to his situation, Zagato played with his mind, fooled him and made him use his power for evil. But Umi makes him realize that Zagato was just using him all along and also teaches him the true meaning and importance of friendship. He decides to join the Knights and learned to value his "friends". As beautiful as the flowers that bloom in the Garden of Eden, Emeraude possesses the most power in Cephiro. However, the only sole purpose of this power of her is to pray for the peace and tranquility of her planet as Cephiro's Pillar. But as the planet's Princess, she is also the only person in Cephiro who has the power to call the legendary Magic Knights of Cephiro's myths. She was captured by Zagato, powerless against the evil Shinto Priest. As a result, the peace in Cephiro was disturbed and monsters have appeared everywhere. She calls for the Magic Knight to save her world from the upcoming destruction of Cephiro. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Clef - An old mage under Emeraude's service, he possesses strong magical powers. He was number one in the aspects of magic, being all-out powerful in terms of casting spells. With his magic, he gives the Mahou Kishi's magic's coming from the elements of Wind, Water and Fire. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Presea - A very feminine sword smith of Cephiro who was the only one capable of producing magical weapons for the Magic Knights. She magically transforms the special metal Escudo into indestructible powerful weapons for the Magic Knights to use. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mocona - Mocona is a rabbit-like creature, being Presea's intelligent pet. This creature has some magical powers that it channels through the gem on its forehead. It could find its way almost anywhere, and also create different sort of things magically. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______ ______________________________________________________/ 1.2.5 \_______________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ENEMIES ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ These are the three main enemies and obstacles in the game. They are those who obviously block your path towards finishing the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Zagato - Once was Emeraude's loyal soldier, he fell in-love with the Princess. He tried to keep his feelings but the love was too strong. He did not want to see the Princess suffer more, always only praying for Cephiro. He wanted to give her freedom, and so he captures her, but it also seems that he has also captured her heart. He possesses power second to the Princess, being skilled with both physics and magic. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Inova - Zagato's loyal right-hand man possessing intense dark power. His true colors are hidden beneath his attractive facade. Originally a demon-fox, he asked his lord Zagato to give him the appearance of a human being, but at the same time weakening his powers as well. He does everything to destroy the Knights for Zagato's sake; even sacrificing his appearance just to return back to his powerful demon-fox state, but at the same time suffering the loss of his life as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alcione - Clef's best student in Magic, he taught her everything he knew, and it turns out that she has become more powerful than he. She has developed feelings for Zagato who doesn't care a bit about her. For the sake of her unconditional love for the priest, she serves him with all her heart and soul, turning her back from the person she once considered as her master and now considers as her foe. She uses ice magic to her advantage being her specialty, and those deadly glaciers were meant only to destroy the Magic Knights. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______ ______________________________________________________________/ 1.2.6 \_______ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE MASHINS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Mashins are robot-like life forms that come from another realm and test the Kishi's if they are worthy to receive their power. Separately translated, it means "Demon-God", or demi-god. You will be needing them mostly towards the end of the game. But well, not all Mashins are meant for the Kishi's... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MAHOU KISHI MASHINS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Celes - The first of the Mashins that takes the form of a dragon. Celes rules the element water. It joins into Umi's body for later conjuration. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Windam - The second of the Mashins. Windam possesses the power of the wind. It is identified by its four wings on its back which then joins with Fuu. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reiasu - A wolf-lion at first who had a fiery mane on its back, he later becomes a huge Mashin with an enormous claw. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______ / 3.0-I \_____________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CHAPTER ONE: THE MAGIC KNIGHTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Princess has called for the Magic Knights, and now it's up to them to figure out their destiny... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.1] The Magic Knights ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Treasure Box Enemies: [MAP] Myconid, Slime, Black Toad [FOREST] Frog, Bee Boss: Alcione You see three women lying down on the ground. Those are your main characters. You then wake up, thinking you came from a field trip from Tokyo Tower. You will then see the three characters introduce themselves, and then a little white-haired guy appears. He is Clef - a sorcerer - and he tells you that you are NOT in your world but rather in another one. He asks you to go to the forest to meet Elf. He says Elf will help you find the treasure deep in the forest which could get you back home. The forest he's talking about is located south. He gives you 6 char cubes afterwards. And if you talk to him again, he'll be kind enough to restore your HP and MP. Get out of there and go south into the two palm trees. You will see a small scene with Inova and Zagato. He tells Inova that the Magic Knights have arrived. He will order Inova to call forth Alcione to finish off the Knights. You are now in The Forest of Elel. You will find a save point where you can save your game. It is the star-like thing. It'll cure you as well. You'll see a differently-colored tree in the middle and Elf will come out if you talk to the tree. She says you should go to the tree in-between the pink and orange flowers. After she leaves, go straight up and you'll see a tree in-between two flowers which the fairy was talking about a while ago. "Talk" to the tree and Fuu will say that there is an entrance or gate there in the tree. A hole will open in the tree and you will appear in another forest. Go straight and into a pool of water which will heal your HP and MP. Now go back to the point where you can either choose to go left, right, or up to the pool. Go to either left or right and make a turn by the plants surrounding the pool and there you'll see a treasure chest. Go to it and you'll be back on the map. You're now outside the map. Go back to the mountain where you met Clef. Talk to Him. He will explain that the only way to go back to their world is by being the Magic Knights and getting back the Princess. He explains that Cephiro is slowly dying due to the Princess' disappearance, and also, monsters started to show up everywhere. Cephiro needs the Princess' prayers to retain the planet's life. After a while, Clef shouts "ACCEPT" (he casts magic ACCEPT: Mahou Denshou - Magic Hand-Down) and gives the three their specific element magic's. He comes closer to Hikaru and gives her the ability to use her element magic, which was FIRE. But then Zagato shows up and attacks, and Umi and Fuu have not received theirs yet! Alcione appears in the scene and Clef summons a Griffin (he casts magic CLEFTO: Seijyuu Shoukan - Spirit Beast Summon), asking you to go and find Presea's house. A Cerberus-like dog appears and Clef defends himself while Alcione goes after you. She catches up and does battle with you! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Alcione} Attacks: ARAILU: "Hyou Sou Tousha" - Icicle Frost Projection ASTORA: "Hyou Ryuu Seppa" - Icicle Current Pressure ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Just use Hikaru's "Honoo no Ya" magic and she's a gonner. ^_^ ============================================================================== Now you'll land near a village and then the Griffin disappears. Now go inside the village and search for Presea's house. ________ ________/ 3.0-II \____________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CHAPTER TWO: THE QUEST FOR THE MAGIC KNIGHTS WEAPONS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now they know their destiny. They need special weapons on their journey to successfully complete their mission. Will they be able to find them? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.2] In Search of Presea's House ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Treasure Box Enemies: [MAP] Black Purin, Cockatrice, Mold, Black Toad Talk to the people around the town. They will give you some info's and one of them will also talk about Presea. An old lady speaks of the Escudo, a special alloy that could be turned into weapons by a magic sword smith. Now go to the save point by the well to save your game and then start to head east across the bridge. Go around the mountains and you'll see an elevated platform with stairs so go up there and you'll see a big house to the east. Enter it. Your characters call for Presea but no one answers so Umi knocks and then the gate opens. As you go in, take the path to the right and you'll be captured by Mocona, a weird and fluffy rabbit-looking thing. Presea enters and then laughs. She finds out that you don't come from Cephiro and then heads to the wall and pushes the switch and lets you out. She then introduces herself as Presea, the blacksmith of Cephiro. She knows then that you are the Magic Knights and tells you that she will give you temporary weapons. Hikaru says "Arigatou" (Thank You) and then Presea says that those are only borrowed weapons and that you should go find a different metal alloy called Escudo, which you will need to give to her in order for her to make your powerful magical weapons. Mocona chooses a Magic Knight to go with, and tends to choose Hikaru. Mocona will show you through the Woods of Silence. Once outside, you meet Lafarga - the Princess' guardian who swore to get her back. He asks for a sword from Presea to beat Zagato. Then you get out of Presea's place and back to the map. Go down the highland and then head east by the trees and enter the two palm trees. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.3] Woods of Silence ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Char Cubes x4, Earrings (you get from Ferio) Enemies: [Forest] Wasp, Mold, Cockatrice Boss: Flower (x2), Alcione Let me describe this place first. Wondering why it's called the "Woods of Silence"? That's because in this forest, you are "Silenced", meaning you can't chant magic words to be able to use your magic, so you can only use regular attacks here. You need to pass through here in order to reach the Spring of Eterna where the Escudo is located. Before you really enter, Mocona sets up a magical hotel which I call the "Mocona Hotel". You'll be healed then and a new option replaces the "???" on your menu. After that, enter the forest and talk to Mocona who will show you which way to go. But then the path has mysteriously disappeared. Go all the way north until you see a treasure chest and grab it. Go west until you find a path where a plant monster blocks the way. Save by the save point and then go to the plant monster. You'll be given a choice of fighting it or not. Choose "Hai" (Yes, which is the first option) and fight. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Flower} Attacks: Poison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Attack it with normal attacks. It won't be much trouble. You have no other choice anyway, right? ^_^ ============================================================================== Another Flower arrives but is easily sliced by a green-haired guy. He is Ferio and he joins you to find the Spring of Eterna. And take note: Ferio is SUPER STRONG! He does about a thousand damage to the enemy! Next, follow Mocona's direction (the twinkling star). Just follow the path and you'll eventually meet another Flower. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Flower} Attacks: Poison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Attack it with normal attacks. It won't be much trouble. You have no other choice anyway, right? ^_^ ============================================================================== Then another Flower sneaks behind Fuu but Ferio saves her. Eventually, you'll reach Alcione. Umi tries to beat her by herself, but she was powerless against the sorceress. Then it's Hikaru's turn to fight. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Alcione} Attacks: ARAILU: "Hyou Sou Tousha" - Icicle Frost Projection ASTORA: "Hyou Ryuu Seppa" - Icicle Current Pressure ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: You can either loose to this fight or win. The same outcome happens. Just use regular attacks or magic's or just let yourself be killed. Afterwards, a small fight scene will happen between you as Umi receives her power. ============================================================================== Clef then speaks to the Magic Knights (specially to Umi) through Mocona and then gives Umi her magic - which is WATER. She must use it to help Hikaru defeat Alcione. Again, another fight will clash. This time, it's three against one! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Alcione} Attacks: ARAILU: "Hyou Sou Tousha" - Icicle Frost Projection ASTORA: "Hyou Ryuu Seppa" - Icicle Current Pressure ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: This time you can already use magic, so use Hikaru's Hien no Mai. Now take advantage of Umi's new magic power, the Mizu no Ryuu. Since you have Char Cubes, use Fuu for healing purposes. ============================================================================== After you defeat her, she vanishes and Clef enters Mocona again and gives Fuu the power of WIND in order to heal her wounded friends. Ferio will then leave your party, realizing that you are the real Magic Knights. He wanted to become one, but then knew that you are really the deserving and chosen ones, so he leaves. But as he leaves, Fuu becomes depressed so he gives her a "Ferio Piece". Finally, he waves a warm "Sayonara" to all. Then something cute happens. Hikaru and Umi seem to realize that Fuu likes Ferio, but she denies it! ^_^ Finally, you'll be on the other side of the palm trees. Now head for the Spring of Eterna. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.4] Spring of Eterna ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now once you're there, get into the spring. You'll see a little scene where Zagato banishes Alcione because of her weakness. Now, the three have been separated. You've got to choose the character you'll be using first. I'll go in the default order. ***NOTE: In this part of the game, the bosses will be the most important thing in the Magic Knight's life for her. ^_^ ****************************************************************************** Hikaru's ****************************************************************************** Treasures: Heart Cube x3, Char Cube x3, Enemies: Brain Mush, Glow Mold Boss: Hikari Copy Hikaru wakes up in a weird place. Go to the treasure chest's place and open it and go back to the farthest right side of the second row (go straight to the right till you hit the wall). Notice the 2 crystals just above you. Notice that they're different from the others. They have two glows of light (the reflection-like glow) in them unlike the others which only had one. If you get to touch these types of crystals, they shatter. Now go through it. Next, get the other chest. Then go through the path where the wall crumbles and you'll eventually reach a HEAL (not save) spot. Just go on and follow the path wherever it leads you. Just keep in mind that you should look for the different-looking crystal. Eventually, you'll reach the end and meet Hikari there - Hikaru's dog (and friend) from earth. Next, Emeraude will appear, telling Hikaru to think that it is a fake Hikari, because her dog would never attack her. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Hikari Copy} Attacks: Bite ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Hikari's HP's just around 2000, so five normal attacks will do. If not, use magic as well. ============================================================================== ---END OF HIKARU's SCENARIO--- ****************************************************************************** Umi's ****************************************************************************** Treasures: Char Full, Heart Cube x2 Enemies: Lamian, Glow Mold Boss: Umi's Papa, Umi's Mama (Copies) Umi becomes aware that she is alone also and hears a voice that tells her to follow the path. The way to get to the goal here is by shattering the crystal walls also (See Hikaru's scene). There is also another type of crystal which has larger glows. If you touch it, you get to fight two lamians which can easily be defeated by using Dragon Wave. As you follow the path, you'll reach some treasure boxes and also a heal spot. Level up Umi to become more powerful. It's not a very hard to find your way. Just break the crystals and you'll soon reach the boss. Umi goes to her parents but they attack her. Emeraude appears and tells her to be strong and that they are just copies. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Umi's Papa, Umi's Mama} Attacks: Papa: Blue Wave Mama: Red Wave ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Sweep them away ^_^ with two Kairyuu no Nami and they're dead. ============================================================================== ---END OF UMI's SCENARIO--- ****************************************************************************** Fuu's ****************************************************************************** Treasures: Wind Stock x5, Heart Cube x3 Enemies: Wasp, Mandrake Boss: Fuu Fuu wakes up and realizes that she's in some kind of dungeon. Just follow the path to the treasure chest and take note of the glows of the crystals. Just follow the paths leading to the treasure chests and the heal spot. Level up if you want. Soon, you'll be at the boss area. And there, you'll fight who or what Fuu loves the most... HERSELF!!! Emeraude appears also and tells her to be strong and that that is just a copy of her. Then afterwards, you'll have to fight YOURSELF. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Fuu's Copy} Attacks: Bow & arrow shot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: This one's tricky if you don't know what you're doing. Each time you attack the copy, you get hurt yourself. But magic has no backfire on you, so bring down the enemy with all you've got!!! MAGIC POWER! Heal at times you need it. ============================================================================== ---END OF FUU's SCENARIO--- Finally, after you finish all three TRIALS, Presea comes, and, as you give her the Escudo, makes your weapons with the metal, also for defeating the thing most precious to you and for being strong. You'll see cute, little Presea dance around and then followed by a graphical pic! ^_^ And now, guess what? Weapon and armor change!!! :) She then tells you to go to the South Seashore. _________ __________________/ 3.0-III \_________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CHAPTER THREE: THE REVIVAL OF THE LEGENDARY MASHINS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now that they have their weapons, they must continue on to revive their only chance against Zagato, which are the legendary Mashins of Cephiro. But will they be able to get passed through the heavy challenges that are in stored for them? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.5] Village ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Enemies: [Map] Brain Mush, Black Purin, Flora, Hornet Now head south, passing through some mountains and unto the bridge with a red gem on it. A little bit more of walking and you'll finally reach a village. Go there and then talk to people to get some information. Here, Mocona makes a "Flying Bowl" and you all get to board it. Unfortunately, it crashes and you end up under the sea in a cave. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.7] Under the Sea ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Heart Cube x5, Blast Stock x9, Shadow Smoke x3, Origin Cube, Poiz Seed x2 Enemies: Blood Jelly, Red Snaker, Lizard Man Boss: Fezier Get the treasures on both the left and right sides once you begin to gain control of your characters. For the first time in the game, the level difficulty in this place has increased, which means you'll have a possibility of DYING in a battle if you're not so strong enough. The enemies are hard, so you might as well prefer to use magical attacks. It is best to use Fuu's Kaze no Ikari (Wind's Anger) to lower down the enemies' HP and then attack physically or combo Fuu's magic with Umi's Tairyuu no Nami (Dragon Wave). Once you're on the second level, you could go to the right side for a treasure and to the left for a SAVE-HEAL POINT. Use the save point to your advantage. Since the enemies are difficult, try leveling up above level 20 and you shouldn't have much problems with the enemies afterwards. After a couple of level-ups, go through the right passage to get through the third level of the dungeon. Go left to grab a treasure, then continue on the path going north. You will be in an intersection where there are three paths to take. Go east and then north and you'll end up in an area with many cave like openings. Go directly to the west where you'll reach a SAVE-HEAL POINT and right above it is a treasure chest. Grab it. Again, if you wish to be a lot stronger, level-up. After you're done, go to the second opening to the left door. Go straight passing through the bridge and you'll get to the "Temple of Water". Umi says that a Mashin sleeps in this area. She disappears after and the rest looks for her. Walk straight. After you reach the first intersection, go left to find 2 chests and then right to find another one. Now go back to the center and head forward and the two start to walk towards Umi-chan, calling her name. Mocona stops them for some reason. Then and you'll see a dragon, and Umi seems to talk to him. He is Celes, a Mashin that only the Magic Knights are allowed to touch. And then a new face appears. He is Ascot, one of Zagato's henchmen ordered to kill the Magic Knights. He is a Monster Summoner. He shouts "MAXIMA!" (he casts magic MAXIMA: Majyuu Shoukan - Beast Summon) and a green monster shows up. You try to stop it but another one shows up. It throws you away and towards the altar. Umi gets really angry. She shouts "Mizu no Ryuu!" and shoots one of the beasts with her Water Dragon. The other monster was to attack, but Umi then shouts "Aoi Tatsumaki!" and sends forth a ravaging water tornado towards the lizard. Ascot gets really angry this time and sends another monster to attack Umi from behind. Fuu pushes Umi and gets hurt instead. Then Hikaru goes into battle but she looses from the enemy. Now Umi gets into a rage and Ascot sends out a monster infront of Umi. Umi gets mad because she says that Ascot hurt her two, best friends. Then a fight starts as Umi battles alone to protect her friends. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Fezier} Attacks: Fire Breath ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: He can hurt you with his burn attack, so protect with Umi's barrier. Then attack him with physical and magical attacks and you should be able to beat him in no time. ============================================================================== After you beat him, Umi permanently gets rid of Fezier. Ascot then tries to stop her because he says that the monsters he calls upon are his friends. But then Umi makes him realize that if he was their friend, he wouldn't even push them through a fight where they'll surely get hurt. He then summons his monsters back and asks for forgiveness. After that, Umi makes him realize that Zagato is only using him. After all the scenes, the dragon calls Umi and says that she has passed the test and is therefore worthy to wield his powers. He then heals the Knights and then goes into Umi's body and then the Knights' weapons and armor changes. Afterwards, Ascot decides to join the Magic Knights. A scene will take place wherein the enemies realize Ascot has betrayed Zagato. But then Caldina (She says she's pretty and she's got a nice body) appears and says she'll take care of everything. She then sets off to get the Magic Knights. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.8] Back to the Village ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Enemies: [Map] Brain Mush, Black Purin, Flora, Hornet Boss: [Village] Death Flower (x4) Go back to the town south west of a mountain. As you enter, you'll see an old lady attacked by four Death Flowers. Then a fight initiates. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Death Flower (x3)} Attacks: Poison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: This is very easy. For Ascot, attack with "Maxima". For Umi, use her "Koori no Ranbu" (Ice Dance). As for Fuu, use "Kaze no Ikari". And as for Hikaru, just use her "Honoo no Inseki". ============================================================================== After you beat them, the last of the four monsters again attacks the old lady. But Ascot summons a monster ("Maxima") and kills the Death Flower. He is then mocked by the villagers realizing he was a monster summoner. He then explains that he is friends with the monsters he summons and they are good monsters. Umi also defends him and so does the old woman for helping her. He feels great that Umi defended her (looks like he has feelings for her ^_^). The civilians then understand and they take off to continue their everyday work. After all the drama, go to the Mountain of No Return near the town. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.9] Mountain of No Return ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The door is locked. Head back to the village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.10] Back to the Village (AND THEN AGAIN) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Gate Key Go back to the village and go to the elder's house (NW). Get the Gate Key from him and then go back to the mountain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.11] Mountain of No Return ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Blast Stock x5, Blaze Stock x2, Heart Cube x3, Char Full x3 Enemies: Giant Wasp, Scorpion Man, Shulicar Go straight until you get to the stairs. Next, climb up the second stairs then go into the cave on right. Grab the treasure and exit the cave. Nest, go all the way to the left (opposite of the cave you were into) and then inside the cave. Grab the treasure again and exit. Next, go up through another stairway to reach a Spring of Recovery. The enemies here are again quite hard, so you might as well level-up, especially Ascot who suddenly got *A LOT* weaker, giving only 1 damage per normal attack. (Although I think he's got no hope at all, being a character whose Attack Points at level 31 ranges from 49-53 only compared to the others who's got around 150+. But his powerful magic makes up for his feebleness.) Now go back to the second stairway. Now head up right from where you got the right--side treasure. Go up to the cave above it to get a treasure. Now the cave right above that cave is another spring. Go if you want. Now go to the way going to the top of the mountain where a tornado will suck your party to the Maze of Wind. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.12] Maze of Wind ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Char Cube x7, Heart Cube x5, Heart Full, Wind Stock, Origin Cube, Char Full Enemies: Grayorz, Cucko Dew, Harpy, Sateiros, Rock Boss: Caldina, Hikaru, Umi Follow Mocona! When you reach the path where you could either go southwest or north, take the southwest path. Keep going and step on the hexagram which will warp you to a place where there are two treasure chests. Grab them. Now step on the other star. Then go south and then teleport. Go to the east star and grab the treasure. Now go back by stepping on the star. Go all the way north to the star and then head west to reach the previous teleporter you came from. This time, go back to your starting location by stepping on the stars once more (the place where you got to choose which way to go (N or SW). Go north. Warp, then teleport again to the south hexagram. Follow the path to the west. Go west until you reach the wider north pathway and go north. There will be three pathways for you to take. Go to them in any order to get the treasures and then go back and take the less wider north pathway. You will reach the "Temple of the Sky". Fuu enters the Temple in search of the Mashin. Ascot says he has to leave to go back to the old lady he saved. The two enter alone. But they did not know that Caldina is waiting for them inside the temple. They fight her two against one. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Caldina} Attacks: Cresta Shario Mirage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Just use Hikaru's "Shiroki Sen Kou" and have Umi cast "Koori no Ranbu". ============================================================================== Caldina disappears temporarily. Now head north and when you reach the intersection, go east and west to grab the treasures. Then go back to the intersection and head north where you'll find Windam, the four bird-winged Mashin who possesses the power of the Wind with Fuu. The three Magic Knights will meet again, but something happens! Hikaru and Umi falls down. Then as Fuu tries to help them, they attack her! Caldina appears. It seems that Hikaru and Fuu are under her spell! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Hikaru, Umi} Attacks: Hikaru: Flame Arrow Umi: Water Dragon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Just die. Let them finish you off and you'll fight Caldina! :) ============================================================================== Fuu will again wake up and cast "Imashime no Kaze" (Wind of Punishment) on her two friends to "encage" them. Caldina will then force them again to attack Fuu but ends up being exhausted and the two will fall to the ground. Now Fuu then becomes under Caldina's spell and attacks herself with "Midori no Shitsupu" (Green Gale). Fuu gets mad and fights Caldina's magic and now it's time for her to fight Caldina one-on-one! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Caldina} Attacks: Cresta Shario Mirage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Cast "Mamori no Kaze" and attack with "Kaze no Ikari". ============================================================================== Then Caldina will realize that what she has been doing was evil and explains to Fuu about Zagato, Emeraude, and Cephiro. Windam will dive into Fuu and then the party's armors and swords will upgrade. A small scene of run and chase between Caldina and Umi will occur ^_^. Now a scene with Zagato takes place. He says that Mashin Celes and Mashin Windam have been awakened, and that there were already two of them, and only one remains. Then he goes up to a pool where the Princess is. She tries to convince Zagato to stop his madness since Cephiro is slowly dying. He says he doesn't care about Cephiro, then Lafarga shows up and challenges Zagato. He looses and then Priest Zagato fires a twinkling little star on him and then he starts to fall under Zagato's hypnotic power. He orders him to eliminate the Magic Knights. Now, back to the Knights, Caldina offers her "services" for the Knights for 30,000 gold. Well, go for her offer. You won't be using that gold much anyway! Now head back to the village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.13] Village ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Orb of Maxima Enemies: [Map] Brain Mush, Black Purin, Flora, Hornet, Red Snaker, Florence, Mold, Cockatrice Go into the old lady's house (NE) and talk to Ascot. He will give you the "Orb of Maxima" which will allow you to summon monsters. Now after that, exit the village and head west across the bridge to the other continent. Go all the way to the west past the town where you'll see a castle on high ground. That is Emeraude's castle. What's in there? TREASURES!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.14] Emeraude's Castle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Blast Stock x1, Web Stock x1, Wind Stock x2, Blaze Stock x2, Just search the entire castle for treasures. They're no hard to find. Nothing much here than the treasures. Afterwards, get out again. Head north until you see a bridge. Pass through it and then go into the Volcano. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.15] Volcano ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Shadow Smoke x1, Soul Core x4, Blast Stock x5, Wind Stock x2, Origin Cube x2, Heart Cube x3, Web Stock x4, Pasadi Seed x4, Heart Full x1 Blaze Stock x2, Char Cube x1, Poiz seed x1, Soft Seed x1 Enemies: White Tiger, Floren, Feizer,War Plant, Dragon Newt, Behemoth Boss: Lafarga Go into the cave s right in front of you, then go to the far left and take the stairs going up to reach another cave where a treasure is. Just follow the stairways to the very left's and right's. Eventually, you'll reach a Water Spring. Level up is desired (Well, I did ^_-;). Near the spring, you'll be able to see the gateway to the dungeon. Find your way there (It ain't hard to reach it :)). Once inside, go to the right and up and you'll see a tablet on the wall which says "The Holy Road continues beyond the wall..." Go back from where you entered the cave and then this time head east. You'll reach an intersection where you can either go north or east. Head east and then go rake the right path where you'll see a button. Slam it hard! :) The flowing magma will vanish and an entrance opens up. Do not go in yet. But go west and do the same thing with the other switch, and then the other switch west of that. Now get inside the caves in the order of Last-opened-cave to First-opened cave where the first caves contains treasures, while the last one is another "entrance" into another part of the dungeon. Go left where you'll be able to get a treasure. Now go all the way right and you'll see another treasure. Next, go left again and save. Level-up if you wish. Head all the way to the west and then north. Eventually, you'll reach an area with lots of caves. Go to the third door to grab a chest. If you wish for total nothingness, head to the second door (pretty stupid). The fourth door holds a treasure, and the dead end to the east has a treasure too. Go back and enter the first cave. Follow the path and eventually, you'll reach a treasure chest. Then just keep on following the path and finally, you'll be able to reach the Temple of Fire! Hikaru disappears and you can't follow her because a mysterious force blocks your way. Lafarga appears and the Knights welcome him, not realizing that he's not there to help them, but rather, to destroy them under the will of Zagato. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Lafarga} Attacks: Sword ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: DIE, or you'll have to fight him again each time you win. ============================================================================== Then the scene changes to Hikaru being called by Rayearth inside the temple. (Hmm... the Temple's colors doesn't match. It's ugly ^_^) Go get the left and right side treasures and then head to the "altar" where Rayearth is. He tells you that you cannot become a Magic Knight yet because your allies/friends are still outside the temple, defeated. Get the treasures surrounding the Mashin's altar then head outside to get your friends. You are then attacked suddenly by Lafarga! Rayearth tells you to let your friends die(It's a test, duh? ^_-), but Hikaru doesn't agree with him so she defends her friends from Lafarga's attacks. Hikaru falls but Rayearth comes and helps you out. Again, you fight Lafarga. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Lafarga} Attacks: Sword ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Just around ten sword slashes and he's gone. Use magic if you want. ============================================================================== Rayearth sees that you've got a good heart by risking your life for your best friends and then he gives you his power. Now all three of you become Magic Knights!!!! Lafarga then speaks of a Lake where Zagato's castle is located. It's across the bridge southeast of it. If you have Caldina in your party, she'll be leaving in a flying bowl towards a nearby town. After she does that, Lafarga then joins your party. A little scene takes place between Inova and Zagato. Inova swears that he'll protect Zagato no matter what the cost! ________ _____________________________/ 3.0-IV \_______________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CHAPTER FOUR: THE FINAL BATTLE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.16] Lake ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once here, Mocona flies you towards Zagato's castle. You'll reach an Island with an entrance. Go in there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.17] Cave ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Char Full x1, Char Cube x1, Heart Cube x1 Enemies: Gray Golem, Scorpion King, Bick Gorn Once inside, follow the path until you reach the spot where you can either go north or east. Go east for a treasure then head back and go north. Again, go through the path until you reach a spot where you can either go south or west. Go west for a treasure and then go south from where you are for another chest. Eventually, you'll reach a teleportation spot. Get in it to go to the Mirror Maze. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.18] Mirror Maze ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Heart Full x7, Char Full x4, Soul Core x2, Blast Stock x2 Enemies: Bengar Jack, Harpy King, Chimera, Brizea Boss: Inova, Cerberus Once here, go right and you'll see three mirrors. One of those mirrors is different from the others. That's what you need to look out for in this place. Those are mirror doors. Enter it. Now enter the mirror to the right for a treasure. Now go back and head left. Go inside the last mirror at the very left side. Once in it, go all the way to the right to and then step forward to get into another cubicle/room. You'll see a save spot where I advise you to level-up. Have Lafarga past the 30+ level. Now go up the stairs. From where you are standing, go left and right to get treasures. Head back to the center and head forward until you reach the first "BLOCK"/"TILE" by the end of the intersection. Head straight to the right until you are right above the treasure. Get it and go back to the "first block" where you came from THE SAME WAY YOU WENT TO GET THIS TREASURE. Why do I sound very careful? Well, in this part of the dungeon, you get "teleported" somewhere else if you step on the wrong block. Head south, but be careful not to step at the tile right at the right side of the south entrance pathway. Follow the path until you reach the very end of the south pathway. Head east (the second path; the one at the end. Keep on following the path until you're in a place where you could go west to a place with mirrors. Enter that to get treasures, then head back to where you came from and go into the small east pathway where you get to enter through the back of a mirror. You'll be in a treasure room! Get everything! :) Now go back and follow the path to the north which leads to a path to the east and then south also where you'll get to face Inova. He says he will do anything for his master, Shinto Priest Zagato. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Inova} Attacks: Shadow Burn Neon Fire ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Use Hikaru's "Honoo no Ken" (Sword of Blaze), Umi's "Aoi Kiba" (Blue Fang), and Lafarga's sword to attack. Let Fuu cast "Midori no Tsubasa" (Green Wings) for defense and "Midori no Chikara" (Green Force) for healing purposes. If your party's HP is okay enough, you can also use Fuu's "Mashin no Kaze" (Wind of the Mashin) for offense. ============================================================================== After you beat him, he says: "Zagato-sama! For your sake, I'll beat the Magic Knights!" He turns into a Cerberus, a two-headed dog (actually, a Cerberus is supposed to have three... hmm... oh well! ^_-;). You get to fight him again! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Cerberus} Attacks: Fire Breath ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Use Hikaru's "Honoo no Ken" (Sword of Blaze), Umi's "Aoi Kiba" (Blue Fang), and Lafarga's sword to attack. Let Fuu cast "Midori no Tsubasa" (Green Wings) for defense and "Midori no Chikara" (Green Force) for healing purposes. If your party's HP is okay enough, you can also use Fuu's "Mashin no Kaze" (Wind of the Mashin)for offense. ============================================================================== After you kill it, Lafarga shouts "Everyone, duck!" because the beast explodes and a massive explosion occurs. Now head to the exit and Lafarga will say that it's now time to take on the castle of Zagato. But the Magic Knights don't want him involved so they ask him to leave. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [3.19] Zagato's Castle (Finally!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Treasures: Origin Cube x3, Char Full x3, Heart Cube x8, Char Cube x5, Heart Full x3, Enemies: Kick Rock, Wingzer, Iron Golem, Madmad, Black Dragon, Powered Chimera Boss: Alcione, Cerberus (x2), Zagato, Zagato Mashin, Emeraude Mashin Once inside, you'll see a save spot. Save and then head forward where Alcione will block your way. Alcione: "At long last" Hikaru: "You!!" Alcione says that you've made her angry because Zagato disowned her after she was defeated by the Magic Knights. And now it's payback time! She releases two Cerberus and they all attack you. ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Cerberus x2, Alcione} Attacks: Cerberus: Fire Breath Alcione: ARAILU: "Hyou Sou Tousha" - Icicle Frost Projection ASTORA: "Hyou Ryuu Seppa" - Icicle Current Pressure ARAIA: "Hyou Sou Geki Sha" - Icicle Frost Attack Shot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Let Fuu cast "Midori no Tsubasa" (Green Wings) for defense and "Midori no Chikara" (Green Force) for healing purposes, if needed. The thing to remember here is to finish off the two Cerberus first before killing Alcione, or it will be very hard to win. Have Hikaru cast "Shinku no Rasen" (Deep Crimson Helix) or "Honoo no Sakebi" (Cry of Flame). As for Umi, it will be advisable to let her cast "Aoki Houkou" (Blue Direction). Be on watch with your HP's for Alcione's ice attacks deals heavy damage, especially when followed by the two dogs' Fire Breath. Sooner or later, the dogs will die and you'll have a three on one match against Alcione. This time have Hikaru attack with "Honoo no Ken" (Sword of Flame), Umi with "Aoi Kiba" (Blue Fang), and Fuu with "Mashin no Kaze" (Wind of the Mashin). ============================================================================== Alcione: "I lost again--- You don't have any weakness--- Zagato Sama--- Zagato Sama!" Save your game. Continue going straight forward until you see a scene where Alcione runs towards the Cephiro Pillar, where the Emeraude Princess was. She blames her for Zagato likes the Princess rather than Alcione. She says she did everything she could just to have Zagato. She says she even betrayed her magic teacher Clef just to be with Zagato, but Emeraude was in the way. She attacks Emeraude and says that she has to be punished so as to get even with her. But Zagato shouts "STOP, Alcione!" and fires an energy blast on her and she dies. Zagato then tells Emeraude that he'll finish the Magic Knights off by himself. Once inside the castle, go in through the first room to the left to grab a treasure. Then follow the leftmost pathway until you reach a staircase. Now go south to get a treasure chest. Head back and this time go east and keep following the path and you'll find another chest. Go through the stairs. You'll end up in an area wherein when you go north, there would be three entrances. Go to the third one for a treasure. Then keep going south following the path that will lead you to another stairway. As you follow the path, you'll reach another stairway. Take it. Go south for a treasure, then head north and keep going and take the stairs. Just keep following the path and then take the stairs at the end (This is ONE "STAIR-y" dungeon!!!). Go south until you reach the save point. SAVE and make a few level-ups until around level 60 or so. Afterwards, head east and go inside the north room and grab the treasures. Go into the next room, and you'll hear the voice of Zagato! Zagato: "Well, nice of you Magic Knights to stop by here!" Hikaru: "Who's there? Show yourself!" Then Zagato appears... Zagato: "I, Priest Zagato--- Welcome, Magic Knights." Umi: "You're Zagato?!" Fuu: "For the sake of Princess Emeraude and Cephiro, we'll defeat you!" Zagato: "Hmmph--- I will end the legend of the Magic Knights! And then a fight takes place! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Shinto Priest Zagato} Attacks: STRATOS: "An Bakusatsu" - Darkness Blasting LEXAS: "Anei Shougeki" - Shadow Shockwave DIABLO: "Gin Bakusatsu" - Silver Blasting ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Let Fuu cast "Midori no Tsubasa" (Green Wings) or defense and "Midori no Chikara" (Green Force) for healing purposes, if needed. Cast "Aoi Kiba" (Blue Fang) using Umi, and then "Honoo no Ken" (Sword of Flame) using Hikaru. Have Fuu cast "Mashin no Kaze" (Wind of the Mashin) if your HP is okay. *If you want something new, loose this battle and then Hikaru will try waking up the other Magic Knights. Then Zagato will shout "Stratos" and then send off two whirlwinds at you and then you will vanish, and a narration will begin, saying that the Magic Knights weren't able to save the Princess and Cephiro, beaten off by Zagato. And then the game IS OVER ^_^. ============================================================================== Hikaru: "At last, we've---?" But then Zagato regenerates and stands up again. Umi: "Revival!?/Restoration!?" Zagato shouts "Lexas!" (he casts magic LEXAS: Anei Shougeki - Shadow Shockwave) and sends off two whirlwinds at you. Hikaru: "Aaaah!" Zagato: Come now, Magic Knights, stand up." Hikaru: "Ungh! Try to stand, Umi-chan, Fuu-chan!" Umi: "S--------So. If we defeat Zagato, we would be saved!" Fuu: "Yes. For the sake of all who have helped us, let us save Princess Emeraude!" Hikaru says that they're going to get the Princess back to have her pray for the peace of Cephiro and starts a conversation with Zagato. Then Zagato then shouts "Diablo!" (he casts magic DIABLO: Gin Bakusatsu - Silver Blasting) and then sends out three projectiles at you. He says something about the Princess of Cephiro and Cephiro itself, and the decision that has to be made. He doesn't want the Princess to live a life of just praying in Cephiro's pillar, no freedom... He then calls upon his own Mashin... specially made just for you... and your death (How nice of him!) ^_^! Fuu: "That's--- that's a Mashin!?" Zagato: "Not only the Magic Knights have Mashins..." A little conversation will start, wherein Zagato says that you could only have Emeraude if you kill him. Then fight!!! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Shinto Priest Zagato Mashin} Attacks: STRATOS: "An Bakusatsu" - Darkness Blasting LEXAS: "Anei Shougeki" - Shadow Shockwave DIABLO: "Gin Bakusatsu" - Silver Blasting ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Let Fuu cast "Midori no Tsubasa" (Green Wings) for defense and "Midori no Chikara" (Green Force) for healing purposes, if needed. Cast "Aoi Kiba" (Blue Fang) using Umi, and then "Honoo no Ken" (Sword of Flame) using Hikaru. Have Fuu cast "Mashin no Kaze" (Wind of the Mashin) if your HP is okay. *Again, if you loose, a unique scene will take place. ============================================================================== Zagato: "E-me-raude be free--" Then Zagato disappears and Emeraude realizes that her beloved Zagato has been killed. Emeraude: "Zagato! No, Just like this? Aaaaaah!" She transforms into her dark side! Emearaude: "-----Magic Knights---------- There is no forgiveness (to what you did), Magic Knights!" The scene cuts with Hikaru rejoicing, saying that finally they've beaten Zagato and has now granted Princess Emeraude's wish. Fuu says that Cephiro will now once again return to it's peacefulness and tranquility. Then Umi says that finally, they could go home and asks the two to now go to Emeraude. So head north to the Pillar of Cephiro. Hikaru asks Emeraude who she is and then Emeraude speaks: "It is I, Emeraude of Cephiro" Umi: "You're Princess Emeraude? But when I saw you in the Spring of Eterna you were little?" Fuu says that still, this lady and the Emeraude they knew were similar, and Hikaru speaks also, then Emeraude seems odd. Emeraude: "---Zagato---------" Hikaru: "Zagato is no more---" Emeraude: "---Zagato---------" Something *VERY* odd happens to the Princess. It seems all clear now! She was never taken by Zagato! She came by the pillar to pray for Cephiro, but could not get her mind off the Shinto Priest Zagato because she has feelings for him. Hikaru: "Princess Emeraude?" Emeraude says that now you've killed Zagato, you should pay for that! Emeraude: "That is unforgivable!" Umi: "Kyaaaa!" The pillar shakes and someone hits the Princess. ???: "Ma---gic---Knights---Stop---" Emeraude: "Ungh!" Hikaru: "Rayearth!" A conversation with the Mashins starts. Then Emeraude gets REALLY MAD for what you did to Zagato. Emeraude: "Prepare yourselves, Magic Knights!" ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Emeraude Mashin} Attacks: PSYNOS: "Kouei Shougeki" - Glory Shockwave DEBONAIR: "Kin Bakusatsu" - Gold Blasting ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: There is no point in beating her here. Just let her kill you for the first time. ============================================================================== Dark Side Emeraude laughs. Hikaru: "W-why?" Then Princess Emeraude appears, calling on the Magic Knights. Umi: "Princess Emeraude! I thought you've turned into a Mashin..." Emeraude: "No,...(then she asks you to finish her off for her sake so that she would finally be with Zagato for that was the only way she could forever be with him. A conversation begins.)" Hikaru: "Like that? Well then, why did you call us here in the first place?" Emeraude tells that the Princess of Cephiro should never fall in-love for that was forbidden, for the Princess' duty was to pray for Cephiro at all times. Her duty was to pray for Cephiro always but she couldn't get Zagato off her mind and Cephiro's slow destruction was all her fault, and now turns into her dark side. She says that she had to call for the Magic Knights so that they would kill her so that her suffering will end. Hikaru: "---Just like that, it doesn't matter!!" Then Dark Side Emeraude (Mashin) shoots you. Rayearth: "This as what it seems it is, if it completes its process, will put an end to Cephiro, causing it to collapse..."(ROUGH TRANSLATION) Windam: "Hatred has overcome her and she's trying to hold it back..." Celes: "But, for how long?..." And then she fires at you again. Dark Side Emeraude: "Come now,...!!! " And then Emeraude appears again, asking for you to grant her request. Fight! ****************************************************************************** Boss Fight ****************************************************************************** {Emeraude Mashin} Attacks: PSYNOS: "Kouei Shougeki" - Glory Shockwave DEBONAIR: "Kin Bakusatsu" - Gold Blasting ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Strategy: Let Fuu cast "Midori no Tsubasa" (Green Wings) for defense and "Midori no Chikara" (Green Force) for healing purposes, if needed. Have Fuu cast "Mashin no Kaze" (Wind of the Mashin) if your HP is okay. *Again, if you loose, a unique scene will take place. ============================================================================== Emeraude: "Zagato--- At last, I could be with you!" Hikaru:: "Just like this...!!!" Then a conversation (which was so hard to understand and translate) starts between the Knights, feeling bad for what they just did. Rayearth tells them that he's going to get them out safely. He sends you off into the Emeraude Castle where you get to see the ending! These are just a few of the codes. I will be adding more as soon as I receive the rest. It's good that someone got to find out something new and useful about this game! The codes work on both versions of the game but requires you to start a new game as you input the codes in order for them to work. The codes won't work on a saved game. Some requires you to enter two codes for one effect to take place, so enter both codes as necessary. * * * And now, to Tony's explanations... "You'll notice that the "HP" codes all say that you start with "about 1500 HP", or "about 8000 HP", etc... The only way for me to make those codes have EXACTLY 1500, or EXACTLY 8000 is to use 4 Game Genie codes for each code instead of only 2. By only using 2 codes for each one, you don't get the exact amount, but you get pretty close, so that's why it says "about". For example, the first code says "about 1500", but the actual amount is 1568. The second code says "about 3100", but the actual amount is 3104.So as you can see, the actual amounts are pretty close.' * * * D14A-74D9 + D14A-7469 Hikaru starts with about 1500 HP instead of 800 DA4A-74D9 + DA4A-7469 Hikaru starts with about 3100 HP instead of 800 FE4A-74D9 + FE4A-7469 Hikaru starts with about 8000 HP instead of 800 F64A-74A9 + F64A-7709 Hikaru starts with 24 MP instead of 12 7D4A-74A9 + 7D4A-7709 Hikaru starts with 48 MP instead of 12 564A-74A9 + 564A-7709 Hikaru starts with 120 MP instead of 12 4C42-7F69 Hikaru starts with 42 Power instead of 14 (Attack is also increased). 6A42-7F69 Hikaru starts with 140 Power instead of 14 (Attack is also increased). 4042-7FA9 Hikaru starts with 36 Stamina instead of 12 (Defense is also increased). 5642-7FA9 Hikaru starts with 120 Stamina instead of 12 (Defense is also increased). He says in his e-mail: "I finished the game today but when the ending came i was so disapointed.. I beat emeraldmashin and the three girls were transpored back to tokyotower and the red haired girl says "we cant go back now, cephiro is not saved yet"!!" This happened to me once the first time I finished the game in the Japanese version. What happened to me was that I did get back to Tokyo Tower, but then Hikaru started talking in Japanese (Wasn't able to translate that back then) and then the game seemed over and the ending didn't happen. I can't remember the reason for this. Maybe it's some sort of error of the game itself, or just maybe it's some sort of mystery... a mystery I want to solve. I am personally not of any knowledge if Jimmy used the English or Japanese version of Mahou Kishi Reiasu, so I cannot justify whether this effect happens in just the Jap version or not. I believe there's some part of the game wherein if one misses out something really important, this happens. But I really am not sure. If anyone knows the answer to this mystery, please let me know! NOTE: A theory has been formed behind this. See section 5.4. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ALTERNATE ENDING SCRIPT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hikaru: "We didn't save Cephiro Yet! I have to go back!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _____ __________________________/ 5.4 \_____________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ POSSIBILITIES, RUMORS, MYSTERIES, ETC... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It came to my mind to include such things in this FAQ; to further go more in-depth. There are endless possibilities in the game that one might find interesting to figure out, rumors that need answers, and other probabilities that just await there for someone to discover. If you find anything else in the game worth putting down in this area, send me a note. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ALTERNATE ENDING ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the Anime, when the girls returned to Tokyo, new enemies started to have desire on Cephiro, since its protector, guardian, and pillar was already gone. They were different leaders from different planets, and each one of them only wanted to be the next ruler of the planet, since there was nothing impossible in Cephiro; the world created through the hearts and minds of the people who lived in it. After some time, the three girls were mysteriously transported back to Cephiro by someone no one knew, and it also seemed impossible for it was only Cephiro's pillar who had such power to call upon the Mahou Kishi's who was also already dead. Whatever the case, Cephiro was not really saved yet, for new evil began to want to invade it. This might have some connection to the game's different ending. Probably, there's a new, secret quest in the game, but I'm not sure. It's one heck of a mystery that I wanna find an answer to... Taken from Mia Ausa's E-mail (see Special Thanks section to know who she is) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Heya, I think I figured out the alternate ending thing. The first time I finished the game I got the ending where you are sent right back to Tokyo Tower after defeating Emeraude, so I loaded up my last save and tried a few different things like making sure the last hit was with a Mashin, and so on and so forth but nothing worked. So I left the dungeon, got the maxima orb from Ascot, went back, defeated Emeraude, and this time I got the good ending. I also made a point of talking to Caldina this time too, since I didn't talk to her before going in the first time. So you probably need to either talk to both of the ex-badguys, or at least get the maxima orb. Hope this helps ^_^" Therefore, it seems that one has to talk to Caldina before venturing to Zagato's fortress and/or talk to Ascot and receive the Maxima Orb from him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Taken from Tommy Vallier's E-mail (see Special Thanks section to know who he is) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "All of the names in the game DO have hidden puns, jokes and meanings, "Yes, there is, in fact, a second ending to the game, which appears when the right conditions are met. After PASSING 100 (IE: getting to 101), You unlock a statisic editor. This allows you to modify any settings you wish (HP, MP, etc). There was a 90-something button cheat programmed in that the testers knew, to automatically unlock this for testing purposes. The editor also allows you to give ANY spells to ANY person. So Hikaru can preform healing spells that normally only Fuu could do. We had a lot of fun with it in the labs..." (thanks to Tommy Vallier) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Ascot's "death":" "This was also to be revealed in the second game. Ascot "killed" himself to take Zegato's powers, he would then return to Cephiro and use them to create evil creatures. [Tommy Vallier] *E-mail address requested not to be posted* He was a part of the Nintendo Of Japan corporation when the MKR game was released. With this fact, he had a bit of an insight into the game and thought he'd solve a few of the 'unsloved' mysteries for me. He told me the answers to the mysteries like the Alternate Ending mystery, the Level 100+ mystery and the Where's Ascot? mystery, plus info's about the name puns! Thanks a lot!! NOTE: Tommy Vallier as of now is considered a fraud, and all his info's are to be temporarilly disregarded until proven that he is not a crazy, insane whako who's having illusions that he was part of the team that made MKR. Why? Words of a contributor, Christina Kenney (lily_inverse@hotmail.com): "I wasn't QUITE sure what category to put this in, unfortunately. First, the bad news. I've attempted to verify Mr. Vallier's claims that reaching 101st level unlocks a statistics editor in Magic Knight Rayearth for SNES. I was rather disappointed but unsurprised to discover that the level cap in MKR is 99, as is the standard in these types of games. I suspect you put a lof of stock in this man's advice, so I have emailed you proof of my claims. The images are screenshots taken from my version of the game, and also included is a copy of my Saveram. The third save slot is the game from which these screenshots were taken. All were made in ZSNES version 1.17B for MSDOS. I hope this can help clear matters up. Now, as to the other point I wanted to bring up, has the mystery of what determines which ending you get been cleared up yet? Any help in this matter would be appreciated, thanks." These enable me to further work on my works of literature. If you have any, feel free to drop me an e-mail. Now, to the real F.A.Q.'s! Q: Is this your first ever written FAQ? A: Yes. Q: Can I post your FAQ at my website? A: It depends upon my decision. If I say yes, you have to follow what's written in the Disclaimer and the Copyright. Q: Where can I get the latest revisions of the FAQ? A: You can get the latest revisions of this FAQ either from GAMEFAQs or GAMEADVICE. Q: Can you send me this FAQ? A: I might be able to, depending on the file size. If this FAQ keeps on growing, its file size will also grow. If I am to send this FAQ to you, you must have WINZIP first before you could get to open the file attachment. Don't complain if I can't send this to you. Just get the latest update from any of the addresses that I specified in this FAQ. Q: Are you ignoring my E-mail's? A: No. I never do that, but there are just a few complications: 1) The main reason to that probably is SCHOOL. I've got tons of school works like homeworks and projects and final papers and stuffs that I really need to get my hands working on. School is my first priority now, and I am sometimes busy even during weekends due to the very same reason. 2) I might have trouble with the computer, like a crash or something. 3) This isn't the only FAQ that I'm working on. Sometimes, I forget to check my mail trying to finish a game and writing down an FAQ at the same time. 4) The answer might already be found in the FAQ itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _____ __________________________________/ 6.5 \_____________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ E-MAILS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you would like to send me comments, suggestions, valuable information and contributions, then send me an e-mail (dyez@edsamail.com.ph) with the following data followed: Criteria: COMMENTS Subject: MKR COMMENTS Content: The following e-mail should contain your personal opinions, reactions and/or comments regarding this FAQ.
