Macross Ace Frontier Translation FAQ Version 0.2 Author: pktlonewolf Email: gt9054a at yahoo(com) 12-07-2008 Foreward: Introduction to the FAQ ------------------ I noticed that while most of the critical information has been translated for this game, no one has compilied it into a single file. I have simply browsed the forums for the translations, and simply placed them in a single location. In each section I have tried to list everyone I pulled translations from; if I missed anyone, please contact me (with a link to the correct message) and I will add you to the contributors' list. Finally, I don't actually read any Japanese. I used online translation software, information from the GameFaqs message board, and best guesses to create this FAQ. If anything is wrong, please post me a message on the board or send me an email. History: 0.2 Added Sections [060*] through [140*]. Reordered the FAQ. 0.11 Formatted FAQ to fit GameFaqs formatting. 0.1 Original FAQ ------------------ Table of Contents ------------------ Basic Information .................. Free play Information [020a] ---------------------------- This section describes how to set up a Free Play fight. This section currently does not give hints on how to win in Free Play. Free play - Rule Select Screen 1 [020b] --------------------------------------- Mode - Battle/VS or Team/Assist Rule - Free Battle (Each player has a certain no. of lives) or Senriki Battle (Each person has a certain amount of HP/power) Rule Details: If you have selected Free Battle, then the default here would be "Infinite Respawns"; From default, left to right: Infinite Respawns, No respawn, 1,2,3~8 respawns etc. If you have selected Senriki Battle (or w/e the proper translation is), then you can select the amount of HP each player has (I haven't tried this mode yet, but i assume the numbers are refering to the HP). The default here is 600, and goes up by 100 increments from 100 to 1000, then from there, it increases by 1000 up to 3000. Battle Timer: Set time limit for the battle, default is 3 minutes. (1~5, 10, 15, 20 min settings) Song Select: On or Off. Large Mechs: On or Off for allowing the use of large sized mechs. Tune parameter: default is LIMIT, followed by On or Off options. SP: On or Off. Self-explanatory. Pilot Skills: On or Off. This one's for skills. Mech Forms: Here you can set a limit on the form used in battle. Default is ALL, followed by Fighter, Gerwalk and Battroid. Mission Select: Random; Wasteland/Ruins/Outback; Snowfield; Valley; Ocean/Sea; Island; Sky/Troposphere/Stratosphere; Not sure about this one; Urban/City, Skytower - another city stage; Inside the Macross Ship; Inside of the Vajra Battleship; Comet/Meteor; Space; Space - near Earth; Another Space stage; Macross 7 Space; Space - Near Jupiter; Space - Near a burning star; Not sure what to call this one - "enclosed area"? Press Triangle for details for the map, and Square to change the BGM. In the BGM select window: Circle to confirm, Triangle to play the song. On the right side of the screen, in the 'Information' window: Picture of the stage/level/map, Song name Weather, and under weather: Time of Day Next to weather and ToD: Time Limit Next to TLimit: Level Under those: small description of the map. If you see writings in brackets ( ) in the description area, then that means you can't use large-sized mechs on that map. Free play - Rule Select Screen 2 [020c] --------------------------------------- P1, COM1, COM2 and COM3. You can disable the COM players by press left or right and highlighting 'NO ENTRY'. Press Circle to go into player settings; From left to right: Cost (This refers to how much modification has been done to the mech in the Hangar), picture of the mech, picture of the pilot, settings: >Team - Select the teams. A, B, C, or D. >Mechanic - Default is auto-select, press left or right to navigate and pick your mech > Pilot - Pilot select, default should be your main character. > Level - Level of the player/COM. Press Square to go into Mech/Pilot/Color Edit window. Press Circle to confirm your settings. Also, some mechs have special pilot limitations, so you have to pick the 'right' pilot in order to use that mech. The Fire Valkyrie can only be piloted by Basara, for example. If you don't know who the right pilot is, in the pilot selection, just pick 'random' [the one with Japanese writing instead of the pilot's face, with RANDOM on the bottom. Duh.] After you've done everything, press Circle to confirm everything, select Yes. Voila, enjoy your freeplay. Supplementary Notes Battroid: Auto-transform to Battroid mode (if not already in Battroid mode), and fire all weapons. Remain in Battroid after SPA. Gerwalk: Auto-transform to Gerwalk mode (if not already in Gerwalk mode), and fire all weapons. Remain in Gerwalk after SPA. Fighter: Auto-transform to Figher mode (if not alredy in Fighter mode), and fire all weapons. Remain in Fighter after SPA Multi-Transform: Auto-transform between all modes and fire all weapons. Ending mode depends on individual Mecha. Fight combo - Mecha auto-transforms to either Battroid or Gerwalk mode, performs a dash to close to hand-to-hand range, and then unleashes a high damage combo on the enemy. This can continue to additional targets if they are in range before the SPA finishes and the original target is destroyed. Ultra-fire - Fires off a massive energy beam that does massive damage to any enemies in the blast range. Note: SDF-1 Macross, Frontier Battle, and Geppernich can change the angle of fire; all others are fixed angle of fire Alter ego - VF-1A Max version and VF-17S Nightmare Valkyries only. This creates a shadow version of the Valkyrie and performs the same maneuvers that the original does, but with a slight time delay. Speed - VF-1J Max Version and VF-27 Lucifer Valkyries only. This allows the fighter mode to move at a very fast rate - among other things, this is good for evading missles. SP Song - VF-11 MAXL Mylene Version and VF-19 Fire Bomber Basara Version Valkyries only. This causes Speaker pods to be launched at all enemies and a music attack is perfomed. Ultra-flame - Tomahawk Destroid only. Many beams are fired while SPA is active. Angle of fire can be changed slowly and has only a very short range. Assault - YF-21 Sturmvogel only. This can be used in Fighter mode to ram through an enemy very quickly while doing massive damage. ? This can also be used in Gerwalk mode to attack multiple enemies? Ghost Dancing - RVF-25 Messiah Luca Version only. This uses 3 of the X-9 Ghost automated drones to help attack a nearby target. Bomb vaporized - SV-51beta Nora version only. This creates a fuel-air bomb that creates a large explosion capable of causing a 60 hit combo. This bomb also creates a large smoke screen. (I think) Dancing tentacles - Bodolza only. Tentacles throughout the body that can be used to grab ahold of enemies and inflict damage by swinging the enemies around.
