------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- [ BASEBALL FIGHTER ] -------------------------- ---------------------------------[by Ice Queen Zero]--------------------------- --------------------------[ Nintendo Entertainment System ]-------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------o INTRODUCTION o---------------------o If not for the NES Completion Project, I would have this ugly piece of monkey crap alone. I know I plan on writing tons of FAQs no matter how crappy they are but this is one time I wish I made an exception because this game is pure utter garbage. No wonder this never came to the United States and even in Japan I bet everyone who bought this game is regretting it. o---------------------o DISCLAIMER o---------------------o Baseball Fighter and its characters are trademarks of VAP Inc. and all of its copyrights belong to them. Nothing really special. Honestly, I think this game is a disgrace to baseball games. o---------------------o CONTROLS o---------------------o D-pad: move in any direction A button: choose option/pick up ball off the ground/pitch/swing bat/throw ball B button: decline option/leaping catch/pick off stealers/steal a base Start: pause o---------------------o BRIEFING o---------------------o - The best emulator to use for the game is the NNNesterJ. As far as I know is that if you use another emulator such as FECUX (so far), then the opposing pitcher will not throw the ball. All you can do is move the cursor up and down. - The control scheme is awful and the computer loves to take advantage of that. It's bad enough that the computer can catch balls perfectly while you have to struggle with the controls to get in position to catch it. - Ground balls do you no justice either. Your players move to damn slow and that opens the door for the computer to get extra base hits. - There are nine innings of play but unlike most baseball games, there is no 10-run mercy rule (if one side fails to stay within 10 runs of trailing the opponent then the game is over). That means that you in for one good ol' ass kicking as the computer runs up the score on you for 9 innings. o---------------------o GAMEPLAY o---------------------o When the game begins. The first thing it says is to press any key to start the game. You are then asked to choose Game Mode or Contest Mode. Game Mode and Contest Mode are morally the same except that you won't be able to use Watch Mode and have a 2-player game in Contest Mode. After you chose the Mode you want, then you will be given the chose to choose: Watch Mode (You pick the teams and both sides will be CPU-controlled) Training (Work on your pitching, batting, and fielding) 1P (Play a 1-player game aginst the computer) 2P (You and a buddy duke it out) Open League (You are welcome to chose any team and you go through a 130-game season) Penant Race (Same as above except ALL USA is not playable and you compete with teams in your confrence for the best record at the end of the season) Choosing the Open League and Penant Race will ask you if you want to start a new game or continue. That means that this game uses a battery-type save to record your progress. Tips (as if they'll be useful :/) Pitching: When you pitch the ball, hold down the A button to determine how high the ball will be when you throw it. The lower the pitch the better as the CPU has a higher chance of calling a strike or swinging and missing. The CPU often likes to steal bases while you are pitching so keep an eye out on the bases as you let go of the ball. Batting: It takes random luck to hit the ball for a base it but when you have your bat sticking out before the pitch you can use up or down to adjust where you want the ball to swing. One good hit will net you a homerun, and a bad hit will cause a ground out or a fly out. Fielding: Good luck with that. The controls on fielding is crap. You can't just simply touch the ball to pick it up, you have to press the A-button. Ain't that a crying shame? Then the B button is downright useless as you try to jump to catch balls. Even the CPU never does that. There are times when the CPU will get stuck between bases as one of their teammates refuses to budge. Take the ball back into the infield for a force out. o---------------------o CREDITS o---------------------o God almighty for he created everything you see before us. VAP Inc. for making the game.
