Whether you're looking for a certain spirit, a Magatama Bead, an item or just where to go next, you shall find your answers in this FAQ. I hope you enjoy it and you find it useful. ======================== 2-Version History ======================== v1.1 (12/31/04) : -Added dates to version history >xD -Added the required spirits to perform the "Jaguar Man" spirit combo (sorry, I forgot to type them when I was doing the list ^^u). Thanks to "Fabio Gaspar", "David Van Dusen", and "Cloudssj4" for reminding me. -Added a few more translation notes. Thanks to "Varial Zraok". -Fixed the misspell "Melphias" (it should be "Mephias"). Thanks to "David Van Dusen" for pointing it out. -Updated the "FAQ" section. -Added the actual numeric damage for En Tao's attacks. That's weird, I was pretty sure I had added them in the previous update >.> I suppose I forgot, just like the requirements for Jaguar Man. -Added an additional location for the "Chuck" spirit, turns out there are actually 2 different places in which a certain enemy will give you the spirit, I wonder if it's the same for other enemy-gotten spirits? Mmmmm. Thanks to "UncleTiki09" for pointing me out about the 2nd location of the spirit. -Oh, and Happy New Year to everyone! >xD v1.0 (12/11/04) : -Added two missing spirits : Magnescope in Eastern Cemetery's Level 4, and Frankensteiny in Western Cemetery's Level 3 (Thanks to "Varial Zraok" for the location of Frankensteiny). -Added a few more notes on Celestial Slash (thanks to "Joel Soliveras" -The walk-trough it's now complete, and should give you a 100% completion rate if you follow it closely from beginning to end (Thanks to "Varial Zraok" for the location of "Black Raven"). -Replaced "small damage", "medium damage", etc. in the attack listing in the Boss section with the actual numeric DMG inflicted by the attack (Check the note at the beginning of the section for more info). -The Boss section is also complete now. -Removed the previous "spirit" sections and replaced it with "Spirit List" -Added "Magatama Bead Location List" section -Added "Spirit Combos" section -Updated Weapons and Armors sections. v0.5 (12/07/04) : -Added all the basic stuff -Added walkthrough up to Backtrack 2. -Added "Weapons", "Armors" and "Spirits" section. ======================== 3-Contributing ======================== Please keep in mind the following before contributing : -If you find any of my info to be incorrect or I'm missing something, feel free to tell me, my memory isn't very good. -English is not my natal language, so you'll most likely find some orthographical and grammatical errors in this FAQ, feel free to correct me. You can contribute to the following E-Mail address : kyusaku_natsume@hotmail.com Please include "Shaman King" or "Master of Spirits" on the subject so I can identify it. ======================== 4-Translation Notes ======================== Since this game was made in America, it uses the american (4Kids) translation of the anime. For the sake of simplicity, I'm going to stick to this translation (even tough it sucks). The name changes from the original translation are as follows : American Translation Original Translation -------------------- -------------------- Trey HoroHoro Ryo Ryu Morty Manta Sword of Light Harusame Zeke Hao Tamara Tamao Corey Kororo Chloe Morphin Mash Shamashu ======================== 5-FAQ ======================== Q: I heard this game plays a lot like a Castlevania clone, how true is this? A: Think of it like Aria of Sorrow, but more oriented towards the "Platform" elements rather than the RPG Elements, and more linear and simpler. Q: How does this game's story fit into the anime time-line? A: It's supposed to happen sometime in-between the tournament. Q: Does Zeke/Hao appear in this game? A: No, it doesn't. Q: I'm stuck at the beginning of the game! What do I do? A: Try getting into the level where the boxer guy is, stand in-front of the sewer and pres Up on the control pad to enter it. Q: I'm stuck at the Tao Grounds! What do I do? A: Try hitting those switches lying around the stage, and look for a small platform, ride the platform and press Up on the control pad to move it upwards. Q: Where do I find En Tao/Len Tao? A: They're on the Tao Grounds, Len is in Level 6, En is in Level 8. Check my map. Q: I've searched the Tao Grounds all over and can't find Len/En! Why? A: If you've already beaten Lyzerg, then you've already lost your chance to fight both of them. You will have to start another game if you want to get 100%. Q: I've reached the level where is supposed to appear, yet I don't see him anywhere. What's wrong? A: Using cheats causes weird stuff like that. I can't help you there, the only thing I can suggest is turning off all the cheats and see if that solves the problem, if it doesn't, your game is probably screwed. Q: Do I get anything by getting 100% completion rate? A: Nothing, besides bragging rights. Q: Where and when do I get the Sword of Light/Antiquity? A: Check the "Weapons" section. Q: Why can't I use Into the Antiquity Into the Sword? A: If you have Mosuke equipped along with Amidamaru, the "Grand Halo Blade" Overrides IntotheAntiquity, so you must De-Equip Mosuke and you should be able to perform it. Q: Is there someway to skip levels I have already cleared? A: Yes, get the "Grand Tao Dragon" spirit from En Tao, found in the Tao Grounds, later in the game. Q: Is there a spirit that enables you to double-jump? A: No. The "Mic" spirit allows you to make a long jump, but not jump higher. You most likely need the "Blocks" spirit, found in Industrial Area, it should allow you to reach all those spirits located in high places. Check the spirit list for more help. Q: I'm missing some spirits. Where do I find ? A: If you know the spirit number, type CTRL+F (if your browser is in english) or CTRL+B (if your browser is in spanish) and search for "(SP#XX)", without the quotes, where "XX" is the 2 digit ID number of the spirit you're missing. If you don't know, you can always check the "Spirit List" section. Q: How do I beat ? A: Check the Boss section. ======================== 6-Basic Overview ======================== =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A)Story Yoh and the gang are hanging out at the Asakura Inn when all of a sudden, a mysterious character who names himself "Magister" appears and requests the Tome of the Shaman from Anna, he wants to use it to revive a previous Shaman King named "Mephias", and conquer the world. Of course, Anna doesn't want to hand over the tome, a fight ensues betwen Yoh and Magister, and the Tome gets torn in the process. After that, Magister runs away. Now Yoh and their friends must collect all the pages of the Shaman Tome scattered all over the stages before Magister does, to prevent the revival of Mephias. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- B)Controls Level Controls : ---------------- Button Action ----------------------------------------------------- Left/Right Move Yoh Up Enter doors Down + A Get down certain platforms B Use sword A Jump L Use spirit equipped in L slot R Use spirit equipped in R slot Start Brings up Level menu Select Switches between spirit decks. ----------------------------------------------------- Map Controls : ---------------- Button Action --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pad Choose which level to go next (between the available ones) A Confirm selection B Cancel selection L/R Hold any of them down and use the control pad to explore the map. Start Brings up Overworld menu =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- C)Spirits There are 2 kinds of spirits : Active and passive. Active ones MUST be set on the L or R button in order to be used, when activated, generally they perform some kind of attack or a special action, and they consume a certain amount of your furyoku. Passive ones can be set on any of the slots, they will work either way, but obviously, it's recommended to put them in the Head or Sandal slots, so you still have room for active spirits. These spirits don't need to be activated, they act on their own once you equip them, and give you stat bonuses or prevent certain effects. Also, they don't consume furyoku at all. There are 4 ways to get spirits : -Pick them on the levels Some spirits are just there lying on some levels, they appear as a green flame with eyes, touch them to get them. -Defeat an enemy Besides the generic ghoul enemies, there are several enemies shaped like many of the Shamans and Spirits from the anime, most of these will give you a spirit, but not all of them, it has to be a specific one in a specific level. So if you beat an enemy and he doesn't give you a spirit, don't bother beating it over and over again, you won't get anything, because that's not the specific enemy who gives out the spirit. -Beat a Boss Most bosses in the game will give you their spirit once you beat them, most of these spirits give you abilities which will be useful to advance trough certain obstacles and progress in the game. -Level Cutscene After beating certain bosses, an cut-scene will be triggered in the middle of certain levels (typically, ones that you haven't been to yet), some of these cut-scenes end up with you getting a spirit. -Inn Cutscene These are like the previous ones, but these ones trigger when you enter the Inn. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- D)Items -Consumable Items : These items can be found either in treasure boxes on the levels, or bought at the shop in the overworld. These are stored in your Inventory, which has a maximum capacity of 10 slots. You can access the inventory at any time to use the items. Sushi (1 slot) Recovers 28HP Hotdog (1 slot) Recovers 50HP Hamburger (2 slots) Recovers 120HP Noodles (3 slots) Recovers ALL your HP Antidote (1 slot) Removes the poison status -Medium Items These items are used as Ammo for certain spirits. They're randomly dropped by enemies, or found in treasure boxes. You can acces the menu at any time to check how much you have of each of these items. Leaf Acts as a medium for the shikigami Rocks Acts as a medium for the chimi-moryo Skeleton Acts as a medium for doll-type spirits. -Level Items These items can be found only in the levels. -Magatama Bead These are hidden in the levels. Find 4 to get an HP upgrade. There's a total of 20. -Tome Page You get one of these every time you beat a boss. Get 4 to get an extra furyoku level. -Key You need to collect these in some levels in order to go trough a locked door and clear the level. -Coins Dropped randomly by enemies, or found inside treasure chests. Collect these to buy stuff from the shop. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- E)Overworld Map This is the way you choose where to head next. Let's go over to the visual elements : Little Yoh - This little icon shows your current location. Dotted line - These ones represent the levels themselves. A blue one means a level which hasn't been cleared yet, an orange one means a cleared level. Orange circles - These ones represent the two ends of a level. You clear levels by reaching the opposite end from when you entered, when you do, you get some of your HP refilled, and you get back to the overworld map, where one or more new le- vels may open (unless it was an already cleared level or it lead to an end of one of the already opened levels). And now, the menu : Save - Let's you save. This is the only way to save in the game, and remember once you die once, it's game over, so save often. Status - Opens up the Level menu. Shop - Let's you enter the shop, where you can buy any of the 5 consumable items. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- F)Levels This is where the actual gameplay takes place. You start in one end, and you must get to the other end alive in order to clear the level. ALL levels have 2 ends, there's no secret exits or anything. If you fall trough a hole, you don't die, you just take some damage and Amidamaru rescues you and returns you to the nearest platform. If you don't have much HP tough, you may die anyway, meh -.- If you die, it's game over, there's no continue option or anything, so be sure to save often in the overworld. And now, the visual elements : Spirit Bar - Vertical bar located at the top left of the screen, it has a number below it, it represent your furyoku (SP). The bar itself represents 0 SP when empty and 40 when full, and every time it fills, you get a level and the bar starts from 0 again. So if you have one level and your bar if half-full, then you have 60SP. Your SP recovers by itself if you remain a few seconds without using any active spirits. Energy Bar - Horizontal bar located at the top center of the screen, it represents your HP. It gets larger as your max HP increases, and at some point, another bar will appear below the first one. L and R slots - Horizontal bars located at the bottom left and right of the screen, they show your current spirit equipped on those buttons. If the spirit's name is marked gray, that means you can't use it, either because you don't have enough furyoku or because the spirit itself is not an active one. And the menu : Use L and R to switch between these screens : -Status- From left to right and top to bottom : Shows your current and max HP and SP, current money, current completion rate, Yoh's portrait, Attack Power (Sword Icon), Defense Power (Shield Icon), Condition (Body icon), how much time you have been playing, current weapon, current armor, current fragments of magatama beads and tome pages (these two reset every time you get 4). Pretty self explanatory. -Spirit Unity- On the left part, it shows all your available spirit slots and what do you ha- ve currently equipped on them. Select a slot and press the A button to change, equip or deequip a spirit. A list will appear below, select any spirit and you can check to the top right to see if such action will affect somehow your stats. To the right of the spirit's name, if the spirit is an active one, you will se a small L/R Icon, followed by how much SP it consumes and a button or clock icon (Button means it consumes that much SP every time you press the L or R button, clock means it consumes it every second). Passive spirits have no icons or numbers whatsover. In the bottom, you can see a text-box describing what the currently selected spirit does. Press the A button at any time to confirm your selection. Below Yoh's status, you can see "Deck" followed by a number. You can scroll between numbers pressing Left or Right. A deck is basically a set of spirits, you can switch between them at any time in the levels by pressing Select. It may not be very useful at the beginning, but it saves you lots of time and menu-accessing later. -Item- Exactly like the Status screen, but instead of weapon and armor, it shows your Consumable Items inventory, which consists of 10 slots. Even tough all items are shown as they actually need only one slot, some items occupy 2 or 3 slots. Select an item and you can check below how much space it takes. Press the A button and choose to use the selected item or discard to make space in your inventory. Also, to the bottom right, you can see how much you have of the 3 types of Medium Items. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ======================== 7-Walktrough ======================== NOTE : -For your convenience and mine, I will be using my Overworld map as a reference for this walkthrough. You may check it by pushing "Back" on your browser and looking for it on the "In-depth FAQs" listed as "World Map" by Fox Inverse. Or you can access it directly trough this URL : http://db.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/file/shaman_king_mos_world.png -The names of the areas are entirely made up names, since the game does not specify them, and the Area # doesn't mean that you have to access the Areas in that order, but is certainly the most recommended, since otherwise you may find yourself stuck in another area because you're missing one of the needed spirits. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A)Area 1 - Eastern Cemetery Number of levels : 6 Boss location : Level 5 Level 1 ------- Nothing extraordinary, just get to the other end alive, and collect some coins on your way. Level 2 ------- Many people get stuck in here. Walk forward until you see a sewer, and press Up on the pad to enter it, then follow the path and you should be fine. Be sure to grab the Magatama Bead before exit the sewers. Beat the boxer guy found at the beginning of this stage to get the "Gussy Kenji" spirit (SP#18). Level 3 ------- Another pretty straight forward level. Don't bother with the flames, you can't deal with them yet. Get the "Chimi Moryo" spirit (SP#24) by beating the singer guy. Level 4 -------- More straight forwardness. At the beginning of the level, beat the 2nd hawk you see to get the "Magnescope" spirit (SP#64). Be sure to get the "Head Phones" on this part of the level also, you can't miss them. Now you can equip a passive spirit, wooho! You'll fight Ryo at the end of this level, check the Boss section if you need help. After you beat him, you get his spirit, Tokageroh (SP#03), and your first Tome Page. You can use Tokageroh to push boxes, now let's head back to the Inn and to the next area, onwards to level 5! Level 5 ------- Pretty short and pretty straight forward, like most post-boss levels. Now head back to levels 2 and 1 to reach the Inn, and head to the first level of Northern Fields. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- B)Area 2 - Northern Fields Number of levels : 7 Boss location : Level 4 Level 1 ------- Set Tokageroh to your R Button, you'll need to do lots of box-pushing to get trough this level. You can get the "Nizba" spirit (SP#29) in the middle of the level, between two vertical logs, hard to miss. I recommend you equip this one on your passive slot to improve your defense. Level 2 ------- More box-pushing fun! Also, look out for the "Left glove", right before the first moving platforms. Now you can equip 2 active spirits! Yay! I suggest equipping Tokageroh and Amidamaru. There's a Magatama Bead below the 5th circling platform. Level 3 ------- When you get to the part with the little floating platforms and a treasure chest on the left, jump trough the platforms to reach a hidden upper path. Be- at the tough guy located there to get the "Deht the Viking" spirit (SP#34). Just before finishing the first part of this level, you can see a small set of platforms that form a stair, jump trough them all the way to the left to reach your first armor "Lucky Charm", +10 Def. Beat the sorcerer guy found in the 2nd part of the level to get the "Badbh" spirit (SP#32). I suggest equipping it, since it will make it easier to face the remaining sorcerers and sorceress found in the levels. Right after beating this guy, you need to climb the small platforms to keep advancing, you'll see a Magatama Bead to the right once you reach the final platform, hard to miss it. Beat the sorceress found also in this part of the level to get the "Vodianoi" spirit (SP#33). Whew, that was quite a lot of stuff for one level. Level 4 ------- Be sure to buy some food from the shop if you haven't yet, you may need it for the upcoming battle. The "Ian" spirit (SP#28) can be found on plain view once you reach the ridding platforms, other than that, straight forward. You will fight Trey at the end of this level, if you need help, check the boss section. After you beat him, you get his spirit, "Corey" (SP#04),and another Tome Page. You can use Corey to freeze flames. Let's head back to the Inn trough Level 5. Level 5 ------- Another short post-boss level, and a bit annoying too, since you have to fight again those 3 guys from level 3. Use Nipopo Punch to freeze the flame and then break it with your sword to exit this level. Level 6 ------- In the middle of this level, an event will trigger, and you will get the "Shikigami" spirit (SP#20) from your grandpa as well as another Tome Page. Other than that, straight forward and short. You'll need to use Nipopo Punch again to exit this level. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- C)Backtracking 1 Eastern Cemetery, Level 3 (Optional) ------------------------------------ Now that you have Nipopo Punch, you can put out the flames found in the 2nd part of this level. The one found just below the left entrance, will lead you to a Magatama Bead (Your first HP upgrade!, +24HP). The one found just below the right exit, will lead you to the "Kanta" spirit (SP#17). Head back to the Inn trough Eastern Cemetery's levels 2 and 1. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- D)Area 3 - Western Cemetery Number of levels : 9 Boss location : Level 6 Level 1 ------- Things start getting harder from this point on, this is also your first "key" level, meaning that you must find a key to go trough the exit, you only have to do this the first time trough the level. Anyway, use Corey to put out the flame and enter the level. In the 2nd part of this level, climb the platforms and find a path on the top left part of the level, keep going to the left bashing the skeletons to find the key. Go back and take the path below, defeat the enemy there and you can see the "Dreisa" spirit (SP#30) on plain view, fall down to grab it. You will need to go back to the 2nd part and enter the path again to progress. Keep going and press "down" on the ladder to go down and exit the level trough the door. Level 2 ------- Equip Tokageroh, because you'll need to do some box-pushing. Once you reach the part with the orange platforms leading downwards to some spikes and a box on the right, get all the way to the right, and press down on the platform there to go down, go all the way to the left bashing all the skeletons, and you'll find a Magatama Bead. Level 3 ------- You need to hit the levers to make the platforms move, and then ride them in time in order to progress. Beat the first skeleton dog you see to get the "Frankensteiny" spirit (SP#21). Other than that, straight forward. Level 4 ------- Wow, the underground caverns from Circle of the Moon! *gasp* You'll find the "Right Sandal" located to the right after the part with the moving brown platforms. It's another passive slot, hoorray! Again, you must hit the levers to make the platforms go up. In the 2nd part of this levels, you'll see many doors. Enter the first one available on the floor, go all the way to the left, then back to the right, enter the door, and to the left to get the box you need to push in order to progress. After you climb that box, the "Yophia" spirit (SP#31) is on plain view, just grab it. Enter the door below, go all the way to right and jump to the left to grab another Magatama Bead. Go back to the main room and go right, then ride the moving platforms to reach the door on the left, enter and ride more moving platforms to reach another door, enter to find the box you need to push in order to exit this level. Level 5 ------- The Long Corridor from Circle of the Moon! *gasp* After the set of skeletons, take the upper path, then to the left, jump and go to the right, jump again and take the left path. Follow this path until you reach an exit on the top right, go trough it, then trough the lower path, and push the box there. You can go back and take the upper path if you wish, but that will only lead you to a treasure box with some coins, other wise, drop down and push the box to the right in order to climb it and reach the path on the right, follow this path to find this level's key. Now go back to where you saw the first red skeleton, and this time, take the path to the right, use the key and exit this level. Level 6 ------- As soon as you enter, LOTS of skeletons will raise. Bash them all with your sword. As you destroy them, more and more keep appearing, even tough it looks like it, they're not endless, just keep bashing them until there's none left, if you don't, you won't be able to take the path to the right. In the 2nd part of this level, you'll face a big skeleton sub-boss, and right after you beat it, you'll have to fight Faust's spirit, Eliza. There's no healing between the fights, so be prepared with recovery items. If you need help with any of them, check the boss section. After you beat Eliza, you will get her! (SP#05 ),and another Tome Page (1st SP Upgrade). Eliza allows you to survive in areas with poisonous air when equipped. Now let's head back to the Inn. Level 7 ------- A bit longer than most post-boss levels, but still, nothing to worry about. Then go again trough level 1, when you finish it, a cut-scene will happen automatically in the Inn, and Ryo will give you the Light Sword, yay! +20 ATK. Sadly, the Light Sword will also upgrade Amidamaru's attack to "Celestial Slash" instead of "Halo Bump". Celestial Slash is a VERY weak long-range attack that consumes a little more SP than Halo Bump, don't bother with it, equip anything else instead of Amidamaru until you get the next sword upgrade. Joel Soliveras says : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yes my friend thought the same thing. But after some testing I found out Celestial Slash is not a crappy move. Next time you play Shaman and get Celestial Slash there are three ways to use it: 1 Normal way. You just swing the sonic boom which does about 11 damage. Yes crappy indeed. 2 Close up way. You swing the blade up close it will do about 23 points of damage. This should be the basic way to use it unless you want to go for long range. Consider the normal slash does 16, the second does about 20 and the third final hit does 25 and you can see that Celestial Slash is actually a rather powerful move. 3 In between animation. Hard to pull off but at the edge of the Celestial Slash animation you might get the 23 points of damage PLUS the 11 points of the crescent wave. Hard to pull of but it suddenly makes the Celestial Slash much more powerful then it looked at first. :) Give it a whirl. You'll be surprised. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Actually, I tried it and I found out that when performed up-close, you can also knock out bosses like with Halo Bump! Seems like it isn't totally useless after all. Now exit the Inn and head to level 1 of Southern Caverns. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- E)Area 4 - Southern Caverns Number of levels : 7 Boss location : Level 5 Level 1 ------- Be sure to equip Eliza before taking the path to the left, unless you want to suffer an horrible death. Also, this is the only level that requires Eliza, so you can safely de-equip her once you clear it if you want to equip something else. Enter the poisonous area to the left, then go down the ladders, but don't fall to the floor yet, instead, head to the left across the falling platforms. Go up and take the path to the left. Keep going to the left and follow the stairs, then jump to the right and keep going until you see the path to the right, and go trough it, then go down the ladder to find this level's key. Now go back to the first room and get down to the floor and then go trough the left path, and use the key in the new room, then follow the stairs until you see the exit in the upper left. Level 2 ------- Once you reach the second part, go trough the upper path on the left, and keep going to the left, then down the stairs and you'll find this level's key...guarded by an armored enemy. Beat this guy (try getting rid of the skeleton dog, then crouch and slash him to death, but watch out for his ghost like form which comes out after you break his armor) and collect the key. Now go back to the previous room and take the lower path to the left to find a Magatama Bead, go back and go right all the way until you reach a wall, then go left, dodging the lava and such, until you reach this level's door, and shortly after, the exit. Level 3 ------- Man, I hate this level... Anyway, the first part is straight forward to the left, then you'll reach a dark area with only a small circle of light surrounding Yoh. In this new room, climb the ladders and keep going to the left until you reach another ladder, go down and trough the passage on the left. Keep going all the way to the left until you find a Magatama Bead (2nd HP upgrade!) and then go back to the first dark room, climb up the two ladders, and go trough the left. In the new room, climb the first latter, but ignore the second, jump to the platforms instead, and keep going to the left until you reach the passage to the next room. In the new room, let yourself fall down between the two ladders that go down and you'll fall into a platform, go the left and go down the ladder and defeat all the skeleton things to reach the "Yamagami" spirit (SP#41). Unfortunately, there's no way to go back up there, so you'll need to go back to the first room in order to do that. Once you've found your way back up, keep going to the left this time, and don't fall in any of the holes, or you'll have to go back all the way again to go up. Climb the 3 ladders on the left and then go trough the 5 ones on the right, to reach a passage. In the new room, go down the ladder, you can go all the way down if you wish to get the treasure chest, otherwise, just go to the right. Keep going to the right and trough the lower passage, ignoring the ladder. In the new room, go down the ladder that's between the two skeleton enemies, to reach the elusive "Left Sandal", now you can equip a total of 5 spirits. EXCELLENT!! *Air guitar* Go back the ladder, but DON'T fall to the left or you'll end up in the start of the dark area. Then go to the right and down the other ladder, and head right trough a passage. In this new room, head all the way to the right and you'll see this level's key, which is guarded by another one of those armored enemies. Beat him again, only this time you'll get his spirit. So collect the "Ashcroft" spirit (SP#55) and this level's key and head all the way back to the previous room where you took the lower path, but this time, climb the ladder and go trough the upper path to the right. The "Gabriel" spirit (SP#44) can be found on a ledge in the right in the next room. This spirit's only function is to light up the dark rooms, of course, it's useless by now, damn you Konami!. Keep going to the right into a new room, beat the Mexican guy and his wacky dolls to get the "Jose" spirit (SP#60). Finally, keep going to the right and go trough the door to end this long and annoying level. Whew. Level 4 ------- Your goal on the first part of the level is to go trough the path in the top right (not the one with the treasure chest, ignore that one). Just be careful not to fall down in the process. In the next room, if at any time you fall down to the lower level, you'll have to go left and you'll end in that passage with the treasure chest I told you to ignore. Take the chest if you want, and head up trough the upper path again. Anyway, try not to fall and keep going right until you reach a falling platform, jump into it but hold the control Pad to the right, so you can get to the platform below. Then go to the right, jump trough another falling platform and go trough the passage. This level's key is in plain view. Take it and go back to the previous room, this time, let yourself fall down to the lower level, and beat the genie enemy down there to get the "Jen" spirit (SP#54). Keep going left and get back to the upper path, go to the right again, but this time don't fall down at all. You will reach this level's door, go trough it and keep going to the right, DON'T FALL TROUGH THE HOLE OR THE FALLING PLATFORM!, go trough the path to the right. In the next room, jump to the ledge on the right. Don't step on the water or you'll slip and end in the room with the key, and you know what that means. Go up trough the waterfalls, skeletons and falling platforms, careful not to fall, to reach this level's exit on the right. Level 5 ------- AAARRRRGH! THE LIGHT! IT BURRRNNNS! Finally, a short and straight forward level, thank you God! Just watch out for the falling logs that form the bridge, the only way to restore them is to exit the level and enter again, so don't mess up. After a short walk, you'll reach the second area, in which you'll have to fight Silva. Check the boss section if you need help. After you beat him, you get another Tome Page and his 5 spirits will get spread all over the map. You need to recover them in order to advance to the next area, so that's what we're gonna do next. Level 7 ------- Nothing to see here yet, just enter and take the "Silver Tail" spirit (SP#07) which is immediately on sight. After that, exit the level. Level 6 ------- More post-boss level goodness! Like in level 5, just be careful of the collapsing bridges. Then head trough level 1 again and into the Inn. Remember to equip Eliza to get trough level 1, if you de-equipped her before. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- F) Backtrack 2 Western Cemetery, Level 1 (Required) ------------------------------------ The "Silver Wing" spirit (SP#08) is located in the 3rd part of this level, on plaing sight, in the platform above the one were you found the Dreisa spirit. Take it and keep going to the left to exit the level. Then make it trough levels 2 and 3 again, and go to level 8 Western Cemetery, Level 8 (Required) ------------------------------------ Again, nothing to see here yet. Just take the immediately seen "Silver Shield" spirit (SP#06) and exit the level. Now go back all the way to the Inn...Yeah, I can feel your pain ;_; Now head into Northern Fields, trough level 1 and into level 2 Northern Fields, Level 2 (Required) ----------------------------------- The "Silver Horn" spirit (SP#09) is located below the platform with a chest that is located between two circling platforms, and near the end of the level. Fall down to grab it, and then keep going to the right until you exit the level. Head trough Northern Field's Level 6, and Eastern Cemetery Level 3. Eastern Cemetery, Level 4 (Required) ------------------------------------ The "Silver Rod" spirit (SP#10) lies in the 2nd part of the level, fall down trough the hole found in the bridge with the samurai dude to find it. Then go back and exit the level. Now you have all 5 Silver spirits. You should have 5 spirit slots by now, if you don't, you're missing one of the slot-enable items (HeadPhones, Left Glove, Left Sandal or Right Sandal). You're most likely missing the Left Sandal, located in Level 3 of the Southern Caverns. Go back and check that levels notes in this walk-trough to know where exactly the item is located. If you're missing any of the other items : HeadPhones are located on Level 4 of Eastern Cemetery Left Glove is located on Level 2 of Northern Fields Right Sandal is located on Level 4 of Western Cemetery. Most of them are on plain sight, but you can look into that level's notes if you need the specific location. Anyway, now that you have all 5 silver spirits, if you equip them all, you'll be able to perform the Totem Attack (and raise your stats in a quite nicely manner). The Totem Cannon is a slow but powerful attack, it is not very useful in combat, but it is the only thing that can take down Spiritual Totems, and you'll need to do that in order to advance in the next area. Go back trough Eastern Cemetery's Level 3 and 2, and head into Jungle Ruins Level 1. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- G)Area 5 - Jungle Ruins Number of levels : 7 Boss location : Level 6 Level 1 ------- Use "Totem Attack" to break the totem (duh) at the beginning of this level. Other than that, this part is pretty straight forward. In the 2nd part, destroy another totem and keep going to the right, then climb up the moving platforms, and jump trough them all the way to the left to exit this level. Level 2 ------- The first part is straight forward to the right. If you wish to reach a treasure chest with some recovery items, you can ride the platforms all the way up and then to the left. In the 2nd part, go up and then cross the bridge, you will find a Magatama Bead on plain sight at the end of the bridge. Keep going up to find this level's key on the top left part of this room. Go back to the beginning of the level, this time, jump to the platform in front of the totem enemy, and jump trough the many platforms all the way to the right until you reach this level's door, go trough it to clear this level. Level 3 ------- Pretty straight forward, there's nothing noteworthy. except those funky-colored skeletons! Level 4 ------- The first part is very straight forward, just go all the way to the right until you see a door (it's a bit hard to notice, it's before the long hole that prevents you from going further to the right). In the next part, you'll see one of those floating rings for the first time, don't bother with it tough, you can't use it right now, instead, go all the way to the left until you exit this level. Level 5 ------- In the first part, keep going to the left until you reach a path split, take the upper path with the totem enemy, go left until you see a small platform, jump trough it all the way to the left trough the passage found there. In this new room, go to the left, down the stairs, until you see 2 small platforms, jump trough them and to the right until you see a ledge on the left, jump into it and you'll see another small platform to the right, along with the Mexican Guy (again) beat him once again (I like to stand on the platform and TotemAttack him :) ) to get another one of his spirits, "Antonio"(SP#59). Once you're done, head to the left to reach another passage, go trough it to fin the "Orona" spirit (SP#39). Now go back and just keep going to the right until you exit this level, be careful not to fall or you'll have to go back a long way. Level 6 ------- Nothing to do in this level, besides fighting Joco. If you need help, check the Boss Section. Once you beat him, you get another Tome Page, and his spirit, "Mic" (SP#11), it allows you to dash for a short period, if you press the jump button during that period, you'll make a longer jump than usual. Level 5 (Optional) ------------------ Remember the path split? Reach it again, and this time take the lower path, you'll have to destroy a Totem in order to advance, then in the next room, use the newly acquired "Mic" to jump across the hole, then jump trough the platforms and to the ledge on the right to find a Magatama Bead. Level 7 ------- As soon as you enter this level, press Down on the pad to go down and collect lots of coins from the 3 treasure chests located there. Then go to the left and down trough the hole, and just keep going left until you exit this level. Level 4 (Optional) ------------------ Go all the way to the right until you reach the door and enter it, in the next part, use Mic once again to jump across the gap. Keep going right and eventually you'll find a flying pumpkin enemy (among other ones), defeat it to get the "Jack" spirit (SP#56). You can also defeat the small enemy with a gun to get the "Chuck" spirit (SP#57). After that, go back and exit the level. If you're too lazy to grab this spirits now, don't worry, you'll have to go back later for a Magatama Bead, and you can grab them then. Now exit this area trough Eastern Cemetery's Level 6. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- H)Backtrack 3 (Optional) At this point, you can go back all the way to Western Cemetery's Level 8 to collect Ponchi and Konchi from Tamao in the middle of that level, but I would REALLY suggest you wait until clearing the Tao grounds, since it will make the painful back-track all the way there and back almost painless. Otherwise, just follow the Required route to Tao Grounds. Eastern Cemetery, Level 6 (Required) ----------------------------------- Just go left until you exit this pretty short and straight-forward level. Now go back trough Eastern Cemetery's Level 3, and Northern Field's Levels 6, 3 and into Level 7 Northern Fields, Level 7 (Required) ----------------------------------- THE GATES OF HELL!!.Ok, not hell, but the longest and most annoying Area in the game. There's a spirit in this level, but you can't get it yet, so don't bother. Just take any path you wish and make it to the exit in the bottom left of this level. You may need to use Mic and Corey along the way in order to advance. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I)Area 6 - Tao Grounds Number of levels : 10 (*gasp*) Boss Locations : Levels 3, 6 and 8. Level 1 ------- Be sure to equip Mic, as you will need to do some long jumps in this level. Go ALL the way to the left, then go up until you reach the path on the top left and enter it. In this new room, you must reach the top right part, jumping trough the many platforms, in order to collect this level's key. Take it and go back to the first part of the level. Now go all the way to the top-right, jumping trough the many platforms and such, to reach a path on the right, enter it, then go all the way to the right to reach a metal door, press Up on the control pad to use the key and open it, press Up again to enter it and exit this level. Level 2 ------- Go all the way to the right until you reach a platform high enough to allow you to jump to the roof, then do so and go back to the left to collect the key. Now just go all the way to the right and enter the 4th door you see, in the new room, go to the right in order to reach this level's exit. Yep, is that easy. Wondering about the other 3 doors? The 1st and 2nd one have a key guarded by a generic zombie (so you could go back to the corridor and try one of the other doors until you found the right one), the 3rd one is the same, but has narrow paths to the left and right, and you can't deal with those right now. Level 3 ------- Go right and fall trough the hole all the way down. Beat the lonely blue skeleton there to get the "Gororo" spirit (SP#35), then go left. In the new area, go all the way to the left until you find a switch, hit it. Go back and jump to the first log you see and jump to the left from there, go left until you find another switch, hit it again. Go back to the right until you see a gap, jump over it to the right, and jump to the log above you from there. From the log, jump right, go right, jump right again and reach another switch on the right (too many rights.), HIT IT BABY!. Go back to the left and jump to the first log you see, from there, jump to the left and keep going left until you reach a path, enter it. In the new room, the Mexican guy is back ONCE again. Beat it to get another one of his spirits, "Pancho" (SP#61). Then there's a switch to the left, you know what to do, baby!. Now go back to the previous room. Now you must go all the way to the right, using the many logs and the water itself to your advantage, and careful not to fall down in any of the gaps. If you do, tough, use Mic to go back. Once you reach the path on the top right, enter it. You're back in the room with the lonely skeleton, be careful not to fall or you'll have to go a long way back. Jump to the log, and the to the right and trough the path. It's time to fight the first of the Tao, but Jun Tao is so cute, so never mind, we will fight Lee Pai Long instead, because he's ugly. Go check the boss section if you need help. After you beat him, you'll get him (ewww) (LeePaiLong , SP#12), he allows you to dash to get past trough those damn narrow paths which you have probably seen lots by now. You also get another Tome Page. ********************************IMPORTANT NOTE********************************* You can skip the remaining part of the Tao grounds if you just wish to end the game quickly, but I would really recommend going trough the remaining 2 bosses, since the rewards are quite good. Anyway, it's your choice. If you skip and change your mind later, you can go back and fight the two remaining bosses AS LONG as you haven't beaten Lyzerg yet. ********************************IMPORTANT NOTE********************************* Level 3 (Optional) ------------------ The first of many backtrackings involving Lee Pai Long's AMAZING dash ability. Go back to the room with the switches, hit the first 3 switches, but instead of jumping to the nearby log, go all the way to the left, you will reach a narrow path that is located directly below the path that leads to the 4th switch. In this new room, beat the yellow skeleton to get the "Raphael" spirit (SP#43). Keep going to the left to reach your 2nd armor, +10 DEF, w00t!. Hit the 4th switch and go back to the exit of this level. Level 4 ------- The first part is straight forward to the right, although the many enemies make it easier said than done. Beat the zombie in white clothes along the way to get his spirit, "Shaolin" (SP#25), it's a decent spirit you should equip if you're in need of an offensive spirit. In the 2nd part, hit the switch to make the platform go down, then ride the platform and press Up to make it go Up (duh). Rinse and repeat, for the rest of the platforms. Beat a red bat along the way to get the "Blaumro" spirit (SP#50). Once you reach the top, exit this level trough the right. Level 5 ------- This level is confusing as hell, so pay attention. Go all the way to the right until you reach the first switch, hit it and ride the platform up, then go right. There's 2 platforms here, the 2nd one leads to a passage with a treasure chest with some coins, if you're not interested in that, just go down the first platform. Go right and trough the narrow path, jump into the platform careful not to fall into the spikes and go up, then hit the switch on the left. Go down again and to the right, get in the new platform and go up. Go to the left, go up in the platform, jump over the gap and hit another switch. Go back right (jumping over the gap) and go up in the newly arrived platform. Go left, go up in the platform. Go left, then go down in the platform. Hit the switch below and ride the newly arrived platform. Go left and back to the 1st area. There are 2 platforms here, ride the one that goes up to enter a new room, in this new room, collect the Magatama Bead and then go down. Now ride the other platform, and go down. Jump over the gap, to left and fall down on the next gap. Hit the switch to the left and ride the platform up, go right and ride the newly arrived platform and go up. Go left and fall down the gap. Go left and trough the narrow path, jump over the path and keep going left, hit the switch, jump over the gap again, trough the narrow path and ride the newly arrived platform, go up and to the left, ride the platform and go up, and then to the right to exit this confusing level. Before clearing the rest of the Tao Grounds, we will take a short detour to get Amidamaru a DECENT attack. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- J)Backtrack 3 Western Cemetery, Level 9 ------------------------- Go into the middle of this easy and short level to find Mosuke, after the scene, you get him! (SP#02). Besides giving you a +5ATK, if you equip him along with Amidamaru, you'll be able to perform the "Grand Halo Blade" which is like traditional Halo Bump, but made 4 consecutive times into a combo. A quite powerful move indeed, it will be very useful to clear what remains of the Tao Grounds, and until you get the Antiquity. Anyway, now that you have Mosuke, don't clear this level, just go back and return to Tao Grounds. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- K)Tao Grounds (continued) Level 6 ------- Don't pay attention to the box. Go all the way to the right until you see one of those sword-wielding zombies, then jump to the red platforms and use Mic to reach the ledge on the right. Go right and hit the switch, then go back at the beginning of the level, jump into the box and use mic to reach a ledge on the left. Ride the newly arrived platform and go up. In this new room, fall down trough the first gap to reach a platform down there, and grab a Magatama Bead (3th HP Upgrade!). Now go back up and go all the way to the right until you reach another platform, go down if you wish to reach a treasure chest with some hamburgers (you probably do), but it's infested by enemies, other wise, go right to fight Len Tao. If you need help, check the boss section. After you beat him, you get another Tome Page (2nd SP upgrade). You'll also get Len's spirit, "Bason" (SP#13). It is a good alternative to Amidamaru if for some unknown reason you didn't get Mosuke, otherwise, stick to Mosuke and Amidamaru. Level 7 ------- Straight-forward goodness! How I missed thou! Be sure to beat the Hammer Zombies located just before the exit to get the "Black Raven" spirit (SP#26). Level 8 ------- Follow the stairs until you reach a path on the left, go trough it. In this new room, go left, then jump to the right and dash trough the narrow path to find 3 treasure chest with lots of recovery items and the "Gundari" spirit (SP#42). Go back to the previous room. Now just keep going up until eventually you reach a path to the left, go trough it and be prepared to fight En Tao. Check the boss section if you need help. After you beat him, you get his spirit, the "Grand Tao Dragon" (SP#14), which allows you to skip levels you've already cleared. YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS! Equip it, NOW!!! Level 9 ------- Don't pay attention to the lonely spirit here, you can't get it now. Just fall down to the bottom of this level and go right to exit it. Fabio Gaspar says : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ That's not correct, if you perform a almost perfect "mic" near the border of the cliff, you can get the spirit right now! "Tao The Great", and I hope it helps. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I haven't tried that myself, but I suppose it CAN be done. You may want to try doing it a few times, but if you don't have the patience, don't worry, you can just come back later. Level 10 (Optional) ------------------- The only use I could think for this level is probably so you can backtrack to level 3 in case you were going for Len but forgot to pick-up the Bear Claw. If you don't have the Bear Claw yet, you may as well do that, if you do, however, you should clear it anyway, for your completion rate. It's a straight forward and short level, strangely enough, it is a one-way level, meaning that normally you wouldn't be able to get back... BUT!, since we now have the miraculous Grand Tao Dragon, that is no problem at all. Clear the level, enter again, and use the Grand Tao Dragon to get back. Level 1 (Optional) ------------------ Now that you have Lee Pai-Long, head into the big amply room, and search for a path to the left, enter it. In this new room, go up the platforms and look out for a narrow path on the left, jump into it and slide to get trough to another room. In this room, grab the "Zapata" spirit (SP#62) which is on plain view. Now exit the Tao Grounds (finally!) trough Western Cemetery's Level 9 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- L)Backtrack 4 Western Cemetery, Level 9 (Required) ------------------------------------ If you haven't been here yet, then take Mosuke (SP#02) after the event in the middle of this level. Other than that, pure straight-forward goodness! Western Cemetery, Level 8 (Optional) ------------------------------------ If you haven't get Ponchi and Konchi by now, now's the time!. Enter this level trough the Western Cemetery's end. Use Mic at the beginning to reach the ledge on the left, then just keep going left. In the middle of this level, you'll find lovely Tamao, who will give you her spirits, "Ponchi" (SP#22) and "Konchi" (SP#23), then just keep going left to clear this short level. Inn (Optional) -------------- If you beaten both, En Tao and Len Tao, go to the Inn and a scene will trigger automatically, after it, you get the Thunder Sword, which you can't use yourself, but it changes Bason's attack into "Golden Thunder Impalement". Eastern Cemetery, Level 2 (Optional) ------------------------------------ Now that you have Lee Pai Long, enter the sewers and slide trough the narrow path on the left before exiting the sewers to reach a Magatama Bead Jungle Ruins, Level 1 (Optional) -------------------------------- If you don't have the "Chuck" spirit get, you can get it in this level. Optionally, you may grab it later in Jungle Ruins, Level 4, since you'll have to go back there for a Magatama Bead anyway. Reach part 2, go all the way to the right and slide trough the narrow path to find one of those small enemies with a gun, beat it and get the "Chuck" spirit (SP#57). Once you're done, head back to the Inn and trough Southern Cavern's Level 1, and then into Industrial Area Level 1. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- M)Area 7 - Industrial Area Number of levels : 5 Boss locations : Levels 3 and 5. Level 1 ------- I suggest you equip Tokageroh and Lee Pai-Long, because you will need them a lot in order to advance. Once you reach part 3, beat the Foot Ball player to get the "Footballer" spirit (SP#51). Other than that, the level is pretty straight forward. Level 2 ------- Part 1 is straight forward. In part 2, go up trough the conveyor belts and eventually you shall see a spirit on the right, but you can't reach it, go trough the path to the right located above the spirit. In this new room, use Lee Pai-Long and jump across the conveyor belts (if you fall, just go back and enter the room again) in order to reach this level's key located on the right. Grab it, fall down and go back to the previous room trough the lower exit to get the spirit, "Uriel" (SP#45). Now slide trough the narrow path, go up and jump trough the moving platforms and such to the left. Eventually, you'll reach a moving platform in which you need to crouch and then use Lee Pai-Long in order to get to a path to the left. In this new room, go straight to the left to reach the 3rd armor (Battle Clothes, +10DEF). In this same room, go back and take the upper path to find a switch, hit it to make a conveyor belt below move a box to the right. Take the middle path and to the left to see that box, jump into it and keep going up and then to the right, go down, to the left, go down again, and crouch and hit the switch twice (don't slide under the narrow path!). Now the conveyor belt should have moved to the left, along with the box. Now go back and jump to the left to see a genie enemy, beat it and push down that box all the way to the right until it falls. Go down and push the other box below to the left until it falls. If you did well, all 3 boxes should be stacked up in one column, in which you can fall to and slide to the left in order to reach a Magatama Bead. If you didn't, probably you didn't hit the switch well, just exit the room and enter it again in order to repeat the puzzle. Once you're done, go back to the previous room and fall all the way down, then go to the right trough the first path you see. In this new room, take the lower path first and go all the way to the right to reach the "Metatoron" spirit (SP#46). Now go back and use the key to go trough the upper path, careful not to fall. In the next part, keep going right trough the moving platforms and avoiding electricity to reach this level's exit on the right. ********************************IMPORTANT NOTE********************************* If you haven't beaten En and Len Tao yet, this is your last chance to go back and do so, after you beat Lyzerg, you won't be able to do so anymore, and you will be losing the chance to grab the following and complete 100% : -2 Tome Pages -The "Bason" and "Grand Tao Dragon" spirits. -The Thunder Sword. ********************************IMPORTANT NOTE********************************* Level 3 ------- Nothing to do here, besides fighting Lyzerg. Check the boss section if you need help. After you beat him, you get another Tome Page and his spirit, "Chloe" (SP#15). Now you can hang from those floating rings which you have seen by now, and that means some backtracking. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- N)Bactrack 5 Southern Caverns, Level 7 (Optional) ------------------------------------ At the beginning of the level, you'll find Mr. Mexican guy yet again. Beat him once again to get the "Carlos & Joao" spirit (SP#58), after that, go left and use Chloe to hang from the ring and keep going left, you'll find your grandpa once again and he will give you the 3rd and last sword, "The Antiquity". Besides giving you an additional +10ATK bonus, Amidamaru will FINALY drop that crappy Celestial Slash to learn a new attack, "Into the Antiquity". This attack materializes a BIG sword which Yoh uses to do a single very powerful slash. Has a very wide range and consumes 110SP. Note that in order to use it, you must de-equip Mosuke, which means you won't be able to perform Grand Halo Blade anymore, but don't worry, this attack is much better. Once you're done, exit this short level trough the left. Industrial Area, Level 1 (Optional) ----------------------------------- At the beginning of the level, you should see a ring. Hang from it and go up and to the left to see a big Chinese guy with a panda shield. Beat him to get the "Shion-Shion" spirit (SP#52). In the 4th and last part of this level, there's a floating ring in plain sight, hang from it using Chloe, and go up trough the other rings above and jump to the right to reach a platform with a Magatama Bead. Equip Mic and Chloe, and make a long jump to the right of this platform and you'll see a ring, use Chloe while in mid-air to hang from that ring, then jump right onto another platform. Go right to find a toy-dinosaur enemy and destroy it, then a small guy that looks like a serv-bot will come out of the dinosaur and run away fast, quickly use IntoTheAntiquity to beat him before he gets away, and you'll get the "Blocks" spirit (SP#53). If the small guy succeeds in it's escape, just exit the room and enter it again to fight the toy-dinosaur again. Jungle Ruins, Level 4 (Optional) -------------------------------- Remember the ring floating above the door? Go back there and hang from it, then go right. Push Down on the control pad to go down then right and use the rings there to hang and get to the ledge on the left, to get another Magatama Bead (4th HP Uprade!). If you don't have the "Jack" (SP#56) or "Chuck" (SP#57) spirits yet, you can keep going right and enter the door there, then go left and fight the flying pumpkin enemy and the small enemy with the gun to get the spirit. Otherwise, exit this level. Northern Fields, Level 7 (Optional) ----------------------------------- At the beginning of this level, fall down the first gap and use the Blocks spirit to build your way up and reach the "Tamegoroh" spirit (SP#19). Tao Grounds, Level 8 (Optional) ------------------------------- Just before En Tao, there's a platform above and to the right which you can't reach (and probably can't see it either, its above the tree). Use the Blocks spirit once again to make your way up and find a Magatama Bead on the right. Tao Grounds, Level 9 (Optional) ------------------------------- If you enter this level trough Level 8's end, you'll make things MUCH easier. Anyway, use either Blocks or Chloe to reach the spirit which is in plain view to the right, "Tao the Great" (SP#27). This spirit's action is just plain funny, if you ask me. If you entered trough the other end, you'll have to make all your way up by using Chloe and hanging from the many rings. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- O)Industrial Area (continued) Level 4 ------- There's a Magatama Bead on plain sight below the 4th ring, just get down and grab it. In the 2nd part, there's NO WAY to damage him, even if you use a GameShark and get 99999999ATK, he's unbeatable, so you'll have to get behind his legs carefully in order to progress. Hang from the ring and go up, then keep going up. Jump to the moving platforms located to the right of the bombing skeleton to reach the "Sariel" spirit (SP#47) which is located on a ledge on the right. Go back to the platform where the bombing skeleton was and keep going to the left, then jump and go up trough the platforms, and then use Chloe and go right to reach a path. Keep going right trough these two rooms to reach this level's key. Go back to the ring which you used to reach the path with the key and go down from there. Keep going down until you find a box, push it until it falls, fall down in it, and slide to advance to the left. In the next room, use the key to get trough the door. I bet you tought he won't be back anymore, but he is!, beat the Mexican guy one last time to get the, "Miguel" spirit (SP#63). Keep going left and into the next room. In this new room, you'll have to sneak between the robot's legs once again. Keep going up until you see a ring above the platforms with the bombing skeletons. Use it and go right trough a path. In this new room, you must get to the top by using Chloe and hanging from the many rings, if you fall, you will have to slide trough the path on the left to go back to the previous room and get back here again. There's a path on the top left, but before that, take the "Remiel" spirit (SP#48) located on the top right. Now exit trough the path on the left, then use Chloe one more time to hang from the ring to the left (be careful of the bats) to reach this level's exit. Level 5 ------- Nothing to do here, besides fighting Marco's spirit, Michael. If you need help, check the boss section. After you beat him, you get him, (SP#16). It doesn't allow you to reach any other areas or items that you haven't reached by now, it's just an attack spirit, but a good one at that,oh, and another Tome Page too!. What matters, tough, is that now the path is open to the first level of the last area. But before entering it, we will do the last backtrack. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- P)Backtrack 6 Inn --- A scene will trigger automatically and Iron Maiden Jeanne will give you her spirit, "Mash" (SP#49). Yeah, just like that. That's it for backtracking, let's clear what remains of the game. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Q)Ice-Lands Number of levels : 3 Boss location : Level 3 Level 1 ------- Go left and down, beat the small sheep here to get the "Mama" spirit (SP#65). Get rid of all the enemies and push the box to the left in order to slide and advance to the left. In the next part, as soon as you enter, go a little to the left and use Blocks to make your way up to find the "Pascal Avaf" (SP#40) in a small ledge to the right. It allows you to float in mid-air, cool, huh?. Get down and keep going to the left and use Chloe to go up. If for some reason you didn't have the Blocks spirit or couldn't reach the ledge, you can use the rings to the right to reach Pascal Avaf, other wise, keep going to the left onto the next part. In the next part, go all the way to the left until you reach a pair of skeleton archers, jump trough the 2 platforms there and once up, use Blocks once again to make your way up and get the "Cifer" spirit (SP#66) located in a small ledge to the left. Get down and keep going right until you exit this part. In the next part, go all the way right until you reach a spot high enough for you to jump over to one of the upper platforms. Do so and go left, then use Chloe to get trough the rings and to the left to find this level's key. In the next part, just get to the top left to keep advancing. In the next part, go all the way to the left to reach this level's door and shortly after, this level's exit. ********************************IMPORTANT NOTE********************************* After you clear the following level, Anna and Morty will leave you and return to the Inn. After this, you won't be able to trigger any events that involve Anna or Morty anymore, such events include : -Getting the Shikigami spirit in Northern Field's Level 6. -Getting Ponchi and Konchi from Tamao in Western Cemetery's Level 8 -Getting Mosuke in Western Cemetery Level 9 -Getting the Antiquity in Southern Caverns Level 7. If for any reason you haven't completed any of these events, I suggest you go back and do them now, or save and make a copy of your file before procedding any further. ********************************IMPORTANT NOTE********************************* Level 2 ------- Many people get stuck in here because of the difficult Golem enemy. You don't really need to beat him in order to advance, if you have the Mama spirit, use it and get trough the small gap on the left, but if you beat him, you get his spirit. If you want to beat him, tough, here's a good strategy : Equip the "Footballer" spirit, when he flies by, use the spirit to dash to the opposite side and dodge the lasers. After that, wait a few seconds and then use the spirit again to dash to the left or to the right and avoid him from landing on you. If you were lucky enough, he will be facing the opposite side and you can attack him from the back. If you didn't however, just use the spirit again to "go trough" the Golem and get to his back, you'll get a bit damaged by touching his body, but it's no big deal compared to his lethal beams, and besides, you'll damage him too a little, with the Footballer spirit. Anyway, once you're on his back, hit him as fast as you can with normal slashes. After a few seconds, he will lift over again and do his flying attack. Just repeat the same strategy over and over until he dies. After you beat him, you get the "Golem" spirit (SP#38) and a Noodle bowl which you should use now if he damaged you badly. Anyway, once you're done, push the box to the left and slide trough the narrow path, or use Mama. In the next parth, go all the way to the left and trough a path, jump, go left and go down and trough another path on the left. Collect the Magatama Bead here. Go back, then go up and go left trough the path next to the bombing skeleton. Keep going left trough another path, and use Mama to get past the small narrow path, go left and find this level's key. Go right, up, left, up, and right into another path. Use Mama once again and run quickly to the path on the right before you get crushed by the ceiling, if you're in need of money, one of the treasure chests holds quite a lot of coins. In the next room, go right and trough the door. Go to the right and trough a path on the right. Ignore the door and go right using Mama and trough the path. In the new room, let yourself fall down trough the first bridge you see, and try to position yourself in the center, if you did well, you'll fall into another room and grab the powerful "Matamune" spirit (SP#68) during your fall. If you miss it, you can just build your way up with the Blocks spirit. It's exactly like IntoTheAntiquity, except the sword it's different, it consumes 50 more SP and does more damage. Keep going right and then up to reach the bridge area again. Let yourself fall down in the first bridge you see (coming from the right) and you should fall into a room with a Magatama Bead (5th and last HP upgrade!) Grab it and use Mama or Lee Pai-Long to get out of the room. Now go all the way left, then down, then right to reach again the room with the door. Go trough it, enter the door, and go left all the way until you exit this level. The scene in which Morty and Anna leave you will trigger before you can do so, and after it, Anna gives you her two spirits, "Zenki" (SP#36) and "Kohki" (SP#37). Now leave trough the left and exit this level. Level 3 ------- Fight the game's last two bosses. After you beat the first one, you'll get your last Tome Page (3rd and last SP Upgrade) and you'll fight the last Boss without any healing in-between. Check the boss section if you need help with any of them. After you beat them, watch the ending and credits. After the credits, you'll get the "Fire Spirit" (SP#67) which is a passive spirit that allows you to recover a small amount of HP every time you hit an enemy. After that, the game will ask you if you want to save, if you do so, the next time you start your game you will be in the Inn, but your cleared levels, items, spirits, etc. Will still be the same as before fighting Mephias (plus the Spirit of Fire, of course). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- So what now? Well, you've cleared the game. If you followed the Walkthrough from beginning to end, completed all levels (even optional ones) and grabbed all 68 spirits and 20 Magatama Beads, you should have 100% completion rate by now, sadly, there's little more to do. You can load your saved file and go beat up Mephias again, which will be quite an easy task with the Spirit Of Fire, or you can wander around any of the other levels, if for some reason you missed something. There's also the Hard mode which I haven't tried yet, but I can tell you almost for sure that if you finish the game in that setting, you won't unlock anything (if Im incorrect tough, feel free to tell me). Hope you enjoyed Shaman King : Master of Spirits. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ======================== 8-Bosses ======================== Note 1 : The attacks names are all made-up names, since the game doesn't mention them also. Some attacks DO have names, because they're signature moves of some of the characters, but I don't remember them. If you happen to do, feel free to contribute. Note 2 : The damage listed on the attack list corresponds to the damage done with the best available armor at the moment of fighting the boss, and no additional defense bonus from spirits. Such armors are : None, for Boss 1 Lucky Charm, for Bosses 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 Bear Claw, for Bosses 7 and 8 Battle Clothes, for Bosses 9, 10, 11 and 12. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 1 - Ryo Attacks : -Slash Ryo slashes you with his wood sword. 9DMG. -Tokageroh Ryo uses it's sword as a medium for Tokageroh, and uses it Slash to slash you, he leaps forward a bit before slashing you. 16DMG and knocks you out. -Bike Ryo gets out of the screen and comes back riding his bike and dropping bombs all over the place. Jump to avoid being run over by Ryo, but be careful with the bombs. Being run over deals 14DMG and knocks you out. Getting caught in the bomb's explosion deals 15DMG and knocks you out as well. Just hit Ryo with everything you've got while dodging his attacks. Halo bump works nice because it knocks him out. Nothing much to worry about. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 2 - Trey Attacks : -Slide Trey will ride his Snowboard and slalom across the stage, jump to avoid. 18DMG and knocks you out. -Piercing Sometimes, after the Slide attack, a big icicle pick will come Board out from Trey's snowboard, he will jump and try to home into you 2 or 3 times. 15DMG. -Ice Balls Trey will materialize a howl-like spirit in front of him and shoot multiple ice balls at you. Each ball deals 5DMG. -Nipopo Punch Trey uses his spirit, Corey, to attack you with a big frost punch, he dashes forward while doing it. Deals 5DMG and frozes you. I suggest equipping the Badbh spirit to make this fight easier, by preventing the effects of Nipopo Punch. Other than that, hit him with all you have. Halo Bump also knocks him out, and if you have good timing (and enough SP) you can knock him out 2 or 3 consecutive times. You can even knock him out during his board attacks. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 3 - Big Skeleton -Skeleton The skeleton pulls his fist back a few seconds and then Punch releases it to punch you. 28DMG and knocks you. -Poison Breath Poisons you (duh). -Skeleton Grab With his hand open, the skeleton tries to grab you, if he succeeds, he tosses you away and does 37DMG. -Kung-Fu With his hand open, the skeleton will raise his hand and chop Action the ground with skeleton kung-fu action. 35DM. Skeleton-chop Touching the skeleton at any time, will cause small damage to you. The only exception to this is the upper part of the skeleton's fist, you must ride into it in order to reach the head, which is the only part that can be damaged. If you haven't figured by now, if you perform Halo Bump in the air, you'll remain in mid-air until the attack ends, this is very useful against this boss. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 4 - Eliza Attacks : -Crescent Eliza jumps into mid-air and swings her weapon, unleashing two cutters crescent cutters with a boomerang-like effect. She can do it up to 2 consecutive times. 15DMG. -Dash Eliza dashes quickly across the screen, she can do it consecutively up to 3 times. 22DMG. That Faust, who does he thinks he is? Letting his wife fight for him, geez... Anyway, this is one very easy boss, with only 2 very-easy-to-dodge attacks. As usual, Halo Bump works quite well, and knocks her too, her dash attack is quite a good chance to hit her if you have good timing. Although it's not an attack itself, Eliza likes to hop a lot, watch out not to touch her, or you'll take 15DMG (must be some sort of security measure put on by Faust >_>). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 5 - Silva Attacks : -Silver Knee Not a real attack since it does not damage you. Silva uses his Ox spirit to teleport to the opposite side of the screen. -Tornado Silva will stand in one place and raise his Ox spirit, shortly after, a bid tornado will form around him. The tornado sucks you in, if it caughts you, you'll be tossed away and get 25DMG. After the tornado ends, lots of small rocks fall down nearby. The rocks deal 12DMG. -Silver Wings Silva jumps into mid-air and raises wings, he will quickly fly to the opposite side in a "U" pattern. Once he reaches the opposite side, he will shot 3 feathers in a "3-way" fashion. Each feather deals 9DMG. Get touched by Silva deals 12DMG. -Silver Snake Silva punches the ground his snake spirit comes out of the ground into a wavy pattern. 18DMG. -Totem Attack Silva combines his 5 spirits to create a powerful cannon. After a few seconds, he will shot a HUGE laser at you. Climb to the falling platforms in the upper part of the stage to avoid being hit. 64DMG and knocks you out. Remember that when used in short range, the Celestial Slash can knock out silver, but if you don't want to use it, you'll be just fine with only your normal sword attack. When Silva performs the tornado (but before the actual tornado comes up), after he teleports, or after he uses the Silver Wings are particularly good chances to slash him good. Just keep dodging and attacking in every chance and you will survive, oh...and don't get hit by the Totem Cannon or consider yourself done (It's no instant death, but if your HP is less than half, you may very well die). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 6 - Joco Attacks : -Time bombs Joco will hide behind any of the bushes on the stage, and then he will come out randomly out of one and one or several time bombs will come out from other bushes. 35DMG. -Jaguar wheel Joco uses his spirit, "Mic", to transform into a wheel and leap around the screen. 16DMG. Joco itself is a very easy boss, what makes this fight annoying is the Olmeca (google it if you're wondering) head on the background, which follows you around and shoots water at you. The water does 5DMG, BUT it knocks you out. The other stage element that makes this fight harder is the bottom of the stage, which has piranhas all over, so you can't stand in a log for too much time. Anyway, the stage is quite big, so there's amply room to dodge Joco or the head's attacks. About Joco. he's very easy, unlike other bosses, you get no damage from touching him, he doesn't have any short-range attack also, so it's perfectly safe to jump to the same platform where he is located and slash him good until he jumps to another platform or hides in the bushes. If he hides, just wait for him to come out, locate him and go slash him again, if a bomb appers in the platform where you're standing, don't worry, just slash the bomb to drop it away. When he uses his Jaguar Wheel attack, just keep jumping all the way up to avoid it. Remember to keep jumping during the whole battle to avoid the water attack from the head. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 7 - Lee Pai Long Attacks : -Flame fist Lee leaps forward and attacks you with his fist. 32DMG and knocks you out. -Flame kick Lee makes an ascending kick. 46DMG and knocks you out. -Dive kick Lee jumps into mid-air and then homes into Yoh's current positi- on with a diving kick. 16DMG and knocks you out. -Fist combo Lee attacks you with many consecutive punches. Each punch deals 5DMG. -Nunchakus Lee takes out his nunchakus and swings them around. 11DMG. Despite his multiple attacks, he's an easy boss. Just slash him while he's on the ground, but don't get too close and don't stay for too much in the same spot, or you'll suffer the wrath of his l33t Chinese martial arts. If he performs dive kick and you're on the ground, quickly go to the opposite side in while he's spinning, in order to avoid it. If you're on one of the platforms, then get down. Also, be careful if you're in the platforms, because he will most likely attack you with his Flame kick if he gets below you. He doesn't have that much HP, you should take him down fast. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 8 - Len Tao Attacks : -Golden Len hits the ground with his sword, if you're in the ground, Thunder several swords materialize in-front progressively. If you're in Impalement one of the platforms, then the swords come out of all platforms instead. 46DMG and inflicts "slow" status on you for a few seconds. -Sneak Attack If you attack Len when he's in a defense stance and flashing blue, he will dissapear and sneak behind you to attack you with his lance. 35DMG. -Spiritual Len materializes a big spiritual spear and dashes forward a bit Lance to attack you with it. 16DMG and knocks you out. -Bason! Len calls Bason and his huge sprite comes forward and punches the ground. If you get hit directly by Bason's fist, it deals 75DMG and knocks you out, if you don't get hit by the fist but you were standing on the ground by the time Bason hit it, you just get 11DMG. You're in for some serious fun if you have Grand Halo Blade already, because besides doing big damage and knocking out Len, you can do it consecutively 2 or 3 times to beat him up good!. If you don't however, then you will still have to rely only on light sword, but don't worry, even using only the light sword, this fight is easy if you follow this strategy : Stand on any of the platforms, then just wait for Len to take out his sword and quickly jump down to avoid the swords and spears coming out of the platforms AND to slash Len a good 2 or 3 times before he removes his sword from the ground. After that, go back to the platforms and repeat, just watch out for Bason. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 9 - En Tao Attacks : -Skewer Tail Grand Tao Dragon will try to skewer you with his tail, 3 times, progressively from left to right. 16DMG, knocks you out AND poisons you. -Nose attack The Grand Tao Dragon's head will leap back a bit, and then he will charge towards Yoh. 35DMG (no wonder, with such a pointy nose) and knocks you out. -Weird Grey Five of these "things" encircle you, they get closer and closer Things of and eventually, they get away from you and get back quickly and Doom hit you. 11DMG. You can avoid this by destroying the things with your sword. -Swift Tail The Grand Tao Dragon swifts you with his tail. 16DMG, knocks you out AND poisons you. -Fire breath Grand Tao Dragon sucks out some air (and you too) and then releases a fire breath down on you. 22DMG. You must damage En Tao himself, who is quietly resting on the dragon's head, unfortunately for you, En Tao can't be knocked out of the dragon (Damn you!, sturdy old man!). You're fighting on the dragon's body, which moves up and down a lot, as well as the head himself, you must hit En either when the dragon lower's his head or the body goes up enough like for you to jump and hit the head, and when you hit En, the dragon's head will leap back a little. If you have Grand Halo Blade, it does nice damage but it requires you to get quite close to En, Bason's spiritual lance, on the other hands, is a bit weaker but has a longer range, your choice, really. Anyway, I hope you have some recovery items and antidotes, because this battle will be a bit long. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 10 - Lyzerg Attacks : -Homing Lyzerg's pendulum extends continuously in a random pattern. Pendulum eventually, the pendulum stops extending, the cords turns grey and the pendulum returns to lyzerg. The pendulum itself does 21DMG. Touching the cord while it's colored blue, deals 2DMG and pushes you back. You get no damage at all if you touch the cord OR the pendulum when the cord is colored grey. -Pendulum Just like Homing Pendulum, but it's a fixed short-range Attack pattern. Damage is the same as Homing Pendulum. -Chloe Lyzerg calls forward her fairy spirit, Chloe, she flyes towards you. Deals 4DMG and inflicts "Confused" status, which screws up your controls. -Big Ben After he gets healed by Chloe, he will occasionally shoot his Attack pendulum straight upwards and disappear from the screen, then come back downwards with a HUGE spiritual replica of the big Ben. Does 85DMG and knocks you out. Lyzerg doesn't move much until you hit him, just sneak behind him while he's doing is homing pendulum attack and slash him good. Grand Halo Blade knocks him out. Be careful of the cord, even tough it does small damage, if you get caught in the middle of it, you'll get hit several times until the cord turns grey or you get pushed out of the range of the cord. If you get confused, quickly find out your jump button and jump or go down all the way to be safe from Lyzerg's attacks until the effect passes out. Watch out for the Big Ben too, although it's a bit slow and you have plenty of time to dodge it. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 11 - Michael -Bullet pods Three flying pods located on the background will attack you with big bullets, they will keep doing so until Michael disappears from the background. 15DMG. -Sword While Michael is flying above you,he will move his sword around Impalement and drop it suddenly in an attempt to impale you with it.If you Touch the sword, 58DMG plus you get knocked out and inflicts "slow" status for a few seconds. If you just get hit by the shockwave caused by the sword's impact on the floor, 9DMG but still knocks you out. -Stomp While Michael is flying above you, he may suddenly drop down and stomp you. 26DMG and knocks you out. -Bullet While Michael is flying right in front of you, he will call Pods-MK2 forward this little pods that spin around and shoot small bullets at you. Each bullet does 15DMG. The coolest boss fight, hands down. Too bad it is an easy one too. Michael has 3 attack phases : He will start on the background, you can't damage him in this phase, just concentrate on dodging the bullets. In the 2nd phase, he will be flying above you, you can damage him in this phase, but it's a little harder and you may get hit by Michael's body or the sword, better concentrate on dodging. Then the 3rd phase, is your best chance to attack him because he's flying right in front of you. IntoTheAntiquity him to damage him AND destroy the pods, and keep attacking with normal sword attacks if you run out of SP. You should be able to take him down quite easily, maybe even before he has a chance to go back to his 1st phase again and repeat the cycle. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 12 - Magister -Skeleton Magister throws 2 or more cards that transform into skeleton Card worm-like things that fly around on the screen on different Levels from left to right and dissapear after a few seconds. Touching the worms deals 21DMG, you can destroy them with your sword, but if you don't, they will explode shortly afterwards, spreading little bullets all over, if you touch any of those bullets, you get 15DMG. -Sword Card Magister throws 2 or more cards that transform into blue things that encircle you and spin around you for a while, then all of them dissapear, except one, and a sword comes from that one and pierces you. 42DMG. Touching the blue things themselves deals 9DMG and inflicts slow status. -Wild Card 2 or 3 red cards appear on the screen, one of them is Magister, you must try and guess the correct one by hitting it, if you succeed, you damage magister, if you don't, you may get a exploding card which deals 21DMG and knocks you out. If you don't hit any of the cards, they will just reveal themselves after a few seconds, and the ones which are bomb cards, will explode. -Dragon Card Magister throws a single red card and a red and blue colored dragon comes from it. Touching any part of the dragon deals 30DMG. The dragon will keep moving around the screen until you hit each segment of his body once. Magister won't re-appear until you beat the dragon. Just hit him in every chance you have, nothing much to say, IntoTheAntiquity works quite well. His attacks are quite easy to deal with, just make sure you destroy the flying worms quickly or it may get a little annoying with the small bullets all over the screen. Don't waste much of your HP or items in this battle, you will have to face the final battle after this and there's no healing between the fights. You also get your last SP upgrade after you beat him (supposing you defeated both, Len and En Tao). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Boss 13 - Mephias 1st form : Attacks : -Green Orb The small green orb floats above you and sends down paralyzing waves, if you get caught, you won't be able to move until the green orb returns to Mephias. Typically, Mephias will throw the red orb at you when you're paralyzed. -Red Orb Mephias throws the red orb straight at you. Deals 53DMG. -Blue Orb The blue orb moves forward a little and shoots small energy beams in all directions. Each beam deals 9DMG and poisons you. -Spike Chain Kinda like Lyzerg's Homing Pendulum, except with a shorter range and the chain doesn't damage you at all, only the spike ball. Deals 42DMG. OMG! It's Dracula! I knew it, I have been playing a Castlevania game in disguise all along!. He's not that hard, just dodge and hit. The only thing you should be careful about it's the green orb, don't get caught in it because it almost certainly means he will throw the red ord at you next and deal a nice 53DMG. Use IntotheAntiquity in every chance you get. Matamune and the Grande Phantasma are also nice options. After you drain about half of his HP, he will change into his 2nd form. He will drop his cool Dracula cloak and his 3 spirits (the orbs) will fuse with him to give him a sword, a dragon chain-like thing, and wings. 2nd form : Attacks : -Fire Bombs The dragon head on the chain will shot out 3 fire balls. They will stay suspended in mid-air for a few seconds and then descend and explode, spreading fire to the sides. If you touch the fire balls while they're suspended in the air, it deals 15DMG, if you touch the explosion of the fire ball or the fire it spreads, you get 26DMG and it knocks you out. -Dragon Snap Mephias extends his dragon-chain and the dragon head will try to bite you. Deals 30DMG. -Sword Attack Mephias will go down into the floor and under it, a small black stain will follow you around, after a few seconds, Mephias will come up of it with a jump and then descend and hit the ground his sword, spreading rocks all over. If you get hit by the sword itself, deals 63DMG. If you get hit by Mephias right when he comes out of the stain, deals 63DMG also and knocks you out. If you get hit by any of the rocks (which can be destroyed with your sword), you get 15DMG. -Spirit Web This is Melphia's most deadly attack. He will perform it when his HP is about 80% or 90% drained. Mephias will get into any of the corners, his spirits will separate from him, the background will turn blue and a white "web" will extend all over the screen. Small little energy balls will travel randomly across the lines, in groups of 3. If any of them hits you, deals 53DMG. Several groups will come out from Mephias body before the attacks ends. You must dodge and survive the attack until it ends, since any attack you do to Mephias during this attack, will deal only 1DMG. After the attack ends, Melphia's spirits fuse back with him and he continues with his normal attacks. Now we're talking. Mephias will be flying above the screen during all the battle, except during the Sword Attack, which is your best chance to hit him. Just dodge him when he comes out of the stain and use IntotheAntiquity to destroy the rocks AND hit Mephias. Again, Matamune and Grande Phantasma also work well. You can also hit him quite easily during his other attacks, but watch out for the fire bombs. When he's about to die, he will start using Spirit Web a lot, survive the attack and go crazy on him after it ends, to damage him as much as possible before he uses the Spirit Web again. I hope you brought some recovery items because you may need them. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ======================== 9-Weapons ======================== Note : Stat bonuses are based on Yoh's base attack (0). Wood Sword (+10ATK) ------------------- You start the game with it. Allows you to perform "Halo Bump". Light Sword (+20ATK) -------------------- Right after beating Eliza, you'll get in on your way back to the Inn. It's automatic, so you can't skip it. Change's Amidamaru's attack into "Celestial Slash", which is a VERY weak long-range attack which also consumes quite a lot of your SP, if used up close, tough, does a little more damage and is able to knock out bosses. Antiquity (+40ATK) ------------------ After you beat Lyzerg, head trough Level 7 of Southern Caverns, you will find Yohmei in the middle of the level and he will give it to you. Change's Amidamaru's attack to "Into the Antiquity", a BIG spiritual sword with a wide range and a moderated SP consumption. You should stick to this attack trough the rest of the game. Thunder Sword ------------- After beating both Len and En Tao, go back to the Inn and check it, after the event, you get the Thunder Sword. Yoh himself can't use this weapon, so it doesn't give you any stat bonuses, but it changes Bason's attack into "Golden Thunder Impalment", a nice attack to hit hard-to-reach enemies. ======================== 10-Armors ======================== Note : Stat bonuses are based on Yoh's base defense (0). Lucky Charm (+10DEF) -------------------- Found on level Bear Claw (+20DEF) ------------------ Found in Tao Grounds, Level 3. After you beat Lee Pai-Long, enter the level again and go into the area with all the switches that control the water flood. Keep looking for a narrow path to the left (not the one that leads you to one of the switches, the one below that one), use LeePaiLong to slide and get trough the path, keep going to the left and you will find Bear Claw. Battle Clothes (+30DEF) ----------------------- Found in Industrial Area, Level 2. Get in that room that has a path to the right which leads you to this level's key, and look for a path on the left, follow it all the way and eventually you shall find the Battle Clothes. ======================== 11-Spirits ======================== No. : The spirit's 2 digit ID number. I will list the known spirit combos so far, this weren't discovered by me, credit goes to the respective GameFAQs users who first found and posted them on the boards, but whose topics are gone now. They're numbered in the order in which you get access to all the required spirits to perform them. /* = Per button press. No. 1 - Revival (Ian, Nizba, Dreisa, Yophia) -------------------------------------------- If you die, the 4 spirits take you to the world-map and recover all your health, instead of giving you a game-over screen. Basically, you could say it prevents GameOvers since it will always work as long as you keep the spirits equipped. No. 2 - Totem Attack (Silver Shield, Silver Tail, Silver Wing, Silver Horn, Silver Rod) (12OSP/*) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- You probably know this one by now, but anyway... Yoh takes out a big cannon and attacks the enemy with it. It's kinda powerful by the time you get it, but it's too slow to be actually useful in combat, works great for slow or static resistant enemies, tough. No. 3 - Grand Halo Blade (Amidamaru, Mosuke) (52SP/*) ----------------------------------------------------- Another very known one. It's like regular Halo Bump, but done 4 consecutive times. No. 4 - Cavalry Charge (Bason, Black Raven) (55SP/*) ---------------------------------------------------- Yoh takes out Bason's lance and charges forward with it, the long you keep the button pressed, the longer Yoh will go. The damage is medium. No. 5 - Grande Phantasma (Antonio, Jose, Pancho, Zapata, Miguel) (90SP/*) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- A skeleton hand holding a big knife comes from the opposite side Yoh is facing and attacks the enemy. Looks kinda creepy O_o but it's the most powerful of the spirit combos. It does more damage than IntotheAntiquity but slightly less than Matamune, not to mention than it consumes less SP than both of those attacks. No. 6 - Ray of Light (Michael and any 4 of these 6 spirits : Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Sariel, Remiel, Metatoron) (150SP/*) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yoh takes out one of those X-Laws gun, shoots upward, and a cool picture of all X-Law's angels appears on the background, the angels "shoot" all over the screen, damaging everyone. Damage is big, but not as much as Grande Phantasma. No. 7 - Jaguar Man (Mic and Pascal Avaf) (10SP/*, ?SP/+) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can only activate it while jumping, when you do, Yoh wears some kind of jaguar suit and will slowly fall down, you can move Yoh left or right until he touches the ground. You can't damage anyone with it, I think it was minded as an alternate method to get one of those spirits that can be gotten with the Blocks spirit. =========================== 13-Magatama Beads locations =========================== Legend : EC = Eastern Cemetery NF = Northern Fields WC = Western Cemetery SC = Southern Caverns JR = Jungle Ruins TG = Tao Grounds IA = Industrial Area IL = Ice Lands L = Level No. 1 - EC,L2 To the left, on plain view, before exiting the sewers. No. 2 - NF,L2 Below the 5th circling platform (coming from the left entrance). No. 3 - NF,L3 After beating the only sorcerer guy in this level, to the right, in the platforms. No. 4 - EC,L3 Reach 2nd part and put out the fire in the bottom left. No. 5 - WC,L2 Once you reach the part with the orange platforms leading downwards to some spikes and a box on the right, get all the way to the right, and press down on the platform there to go down, go all the way to the left bashing all the skeletons, and you'll find it. No. 6 - WC,L4 Enter the 2nd door in the lower part of the corridor in the 2nd part of this level, go all the way to the right and jump to the left to grab it. No. 7 - SC,L2 In the 2nd part, in a path to the left behind the one that leads to this level's key. No. 8 - SC,L3 At the beginning of the dark area, climb the ladders and keep going to the left until you reach another ladder, go down and trough the passage on the left. Keep going all the way to the left until you find it. No. 9 - JR,L2 In the 2nd part, go up and then cross the bridge, you'll find it in plain view. No.10 - JR,L5 Reach the path split, take the lower path, you'll have to destroy a Totem in order to advance, then in the next room, use "Mic" to jump across the hole, then jump trough the platforms and to the ledge on the right to find a Magatama Bead. No.11 - TG,L5 In the upper part of the first area, ride a lonely platform to go Up and enter a new room, you'll find it there. No. 12 - TG,L6 Once you reach the upper part of the level, fall down trough the first pit you see to reach a platform down there. No. 13 - EC,L2 Before exiting the sewers (if coming from the left), there's a narrow path to the left, slide trough it to reach it. No. 14 - IA,L2 In the 2nd part, look for a narrow path in the top left and go trough it. In this room, go back and take the upper path to find a switch, hit it to make a conveyor belt below move a box to the right. If you did well, all 3 boxes should be stacked up in one column, in which you can fall to and slide to the left in order to reach the Magatama. If you didn't, probably you didn't hit the switch well, just exit the room and enter it again in order to repeat the puzzle. No. 15 - IA,L1 In the 4th and last part of this level, there's a floating ring in plain sight, hang from it using Chloe, and go up trough the other rings above and jump to the right to reach a platform, the Magatama is there. No. 16 - JR,L4 Enter the first door you see (coming from the left entrance), in the next room, there should be a ring above the door, hang from it, then go right, Push Down on the control pad to go down then right and use the rings there to hang and get to the ledge on the left, where the Magatama is. No. 17 - TG,L8 Just before En Tao, there's a platform above and to the right which you can't reach (and probably can't see it either, its above the tree). Use the Blocks spirit once again to make your way up and find the Magatama. No. 18 - IA,L4 On plain sight below the 4th ring at the beginning of the level (left entrance), just get down and grab it. No. 19 - IL,L2 In the 3rd room (the one with multiple paths), take the lower one to the left to find the Magatama. No. 20 - IL,L2 In the part with the falling bridges, let yourself fall trough the last bridge, if coming from the left, or the first one, if coming from the right. You should fall into a room with the Magatama. ======================== 14-Thanks To... ======================== -Varial Zraok, for the location of Frankensteiny and Black Raven. -Joel Soliveras, for the added info on Celestial Slash. -Konami, for proving that not all anime games are bad, by making this quite nice game. -Fox Kids LA for airing Shaman King and thus allowing me to know it in its un-cut version, and Doblaje Intertrack for making quite a good dub of the anime, sticking to the original names and everything. -Nintendo, for making the GameBoy Advance. -GameFAQs, for publishing my FAQ.
