John Cena's Profile ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: John Cena Full Name: John Felix Anthony Cena Birthdate: 23 April 1977 Hometown: West Newbury, Massechusettes Height: 6'1" / 185.43 CM Weight: 240 lbs / 108.86 Kg Trained By: Ultimate University Debut: 2001 Finishing Move: F-U Career Highlights: 3x US Champion, 1X WWE Champion Straight up and in your face, the fan favorite rapper and WWE Champion John Cena has made quite the notorious reputation for himself in WWE by speaking the truth and backing it up in the ring with his own style of ruckus. Pimping baggy jean shorts and a throwback jersey, Cena will often get amped up signaling the end for his victims by pumping up his kicks leading to him dropping his trade- mark “you can't see me” catchphrase en route to the FU. A street brawler by definition, Cena is always up for a fight against anyone who steps to him. Of course, for those who step foot in the ring to lock up with Cena or do battle on the microphone, they best prepare to get burned by this RAW Superstar’s blistering, edgy rap lyrics that often scorch the egos of those who dare challenge the rebellious rapper. Cena refuses to back down from any man who gets in his way. His latest challenger has been WWE’s only Olympic Gold Medalist, Kurt Angle. Angle, with the support of RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff, has done every- thing he could to soften up the Champ. The two finally met up at Unforgiven in what was perhaps Cena’s toughest test to date. Angle took Cena to the limits and applied his vicious Ankle Lock. Cena refused to quit, however, and even- tually escaped the hold. With the referee seemingly incapacitated, Bischoff was trying to give the Championship belt to Angle to use as a weapon. The belt ended up in the Champ’s hands, however, as he blasted Angle across the face. The referee was jus coming-to, however, and saw the illegal act and called for the disqualification. Angle had picked up the win, but Cena was still the Champ. These two appear to be on a collision course to meet up again for the most coveted prize on RAW, but if you ask Cena, he doesn’t care. He’ll simply say, “If you want some, come get some!” Perhaps, much of Cena’s success can be attributed to his unparalleled fan su- pport. Maybe no WWE Superstar can relate to the fans quite like John Cena. After all, before Cena became a household name in sports-entertainment, before he became an accomplished rapper and before he grabbed the leading role in a major motion picture, he was a WWE fan. Cena came to live events, created homemade signs and even collected WWE action figures. All in hope of one day performing in the ring himself. And Cena's dream came through in resounding fashion at WrestleMania 21 when he defeated JBL for the WWE Championship. In the Staples Center, the same arena where he watched so many matches as a fan, Cena won the WWE Championship. A former football star at Springfield College, Cena was addicted to training and music growing up. After a successful bodybuilding career, he began his wre- stling journey not long after he left college. The rest is history. Cena is a multi-time United States Champion and former WWE Champion. He began his first U.S. Championship reign in amazing fashion by defeating Big Show at WrestleMania XX. In June of 2002, Cena had one of the more memorable debuts in SmackDown his- tory. After Kurt Angle challenged anyone backstage to a match, Cena, a young wrestler looking for a big break, made his way to the ring. Angle would win that match, but Cena took him to the brink, impressing everyone in attendance that night, including the entire SmackDown! roster. In his rela- tively short time with WWE, Cena has already built up quite a resume. By April of 2003, Cena was already in his first pay-per-view main event, ba- ttling Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Backlash. He defended his United States Championship in a thrilling best-of-five series with Booker T in the fall of 2004. In the 2005 Royal Rumble, Cena was the last Superstar to be eliminated, as RAW's Batista went on to emerge victorious. At No Way Out, Cena defeated Angle in the final of the No. 1 Contender's Tour- nament, landing Cena a spot opposite JBL for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21. Cena, of course, went on to defeat JBL at WrestleMania 21 as well as defend his new WWE Championship against his nemesis in a brutal I Quit Match at Judgment Day. Cena was on a rool and it looked as though he would be ruling SmackDown! for a long time to come. But WWE fans everywhere were shocked to learn that the WWE Champion was the first Superstar selected in the 2005 Draft Lottery, sending the Dr. of Thuganomics over to RAW. Cena, the fighting champion that he is, told the en- tire RAW roster, "If you want some, come get some." Christian and Chris Jericho answered the challenge and the two vied for the WWE Championship against Cena in a Triple Threat Match at Vengeance. Cena once again came out on top as he pinned Christian after an FU. General Manager Eric Bischoff, enraged at Cena’s disrespect for his authority, got behind Jericho and did everything he could to try and make Y2J the next WWE Champion. No matter how much he stacked the deck against Cena, though, Jericho could not overcome the Dr. of Thuganomics. In fact, Jericho even lost a Loser Leaves RAW match, leaving him unemployed. Through all of his success, Cena has never forgotten his roots, which began in the bleachers watching the likes of Hollywood Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. He refers to his fans as members of his "Chain Gang." Together, he figures, they can't lose. And so far, the combination of their support and his talent, have made John Cena one of the top Superstars around.
