Introduction (0002) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Well, this is my second FAQ. Hopefully people other than myself will be able to see this. So it may not be as good as ones who are more experienced in FAQ writing than myself, but it will still be okay in my opinion. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |3.) Version History (0003) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ 0.00: The original thing of nothingness. 1.00: The first version submitted. 2.00: I have added the morphologies of the creatures because they often times also do a good job of explaining how to get rid of the creatures and because it is informative. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |4.) Legend/Key (0004) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: The name of the creature Beam: The best beam to use (or the only beam that is effective) Strategy: The way to get rid of it Scan: Whether it can be scanned once or multiple times /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.) Creature Descriptions (0005) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ It starts! /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.1.) Aqua Drone (0051) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Aqua Drone Beam: Wave Beam Strategy: These guys are not that hard at all. The easiest way to get rid of them is to hit them with the wave beam repeatedly. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Aqua Drone is a security mechanoid that's adapted for use in underwater areas. The Space Pirates have adapted a number of Sentry Drones for use in the liquid environments. These Aqua Drones utilize an arsenal and artificial intelligence suit similar to their cousins. The Pirates have been unable to properly shield these drones from electrical attack, making them vulnerable to the Wave Beam. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.2.) Aqua Pirate (0052) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Aqua Pirate Beam: Any Strategy: The easiest way to keep track of these guys while you are fighting them is with the thermal visor. They are only difficult if you are fighting more than one at the same time, other than that just go ahead and charge up your beams and/or missiles and fire away! Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Aqua Pirate is a Space Pirate with an exoskeleton that has been modified for underwater use. Using modified thruster-packs and Gravity Suit technology, the Space Pirates have armor suits for the use in liquid environments. Thermal tracking is still very useful against these units as the Pirate engineers have yet to eliminate the thruster-pack's high heat signature. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.3.) Aqua Reaper (0053) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Aqua Reaper Beam: Any Strategy: These are one of the enemies in the game who cannot be killed and do not try to attack you although they will hurt you if you touch them. Simple hit them with any beam a couple of times and then walk on by. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A powerful aquatic tentacle that's part of a submerged organism. Similar in nature to the surface-based Reaper Vine, the Aqua Reaper has adapted to a liquid environment. It shares the poor vision of its rock-dwelling cousin, relying on a crude sonar sense to seek prey. Unhindered by water, the Aqua Reaper has considerable speed and strength. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.4.) Aqua Sac (0054) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Aqua Sac Beam: Any Strategy: These will not attack you or hurt you until you destroy them. If you destroy one then it will hurt you if you are near it. You pretty much only want to destroy these if you need the power-up or if it is necessary to move on. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Aqua Sac is a creature that bursts when subjected to impact or trauma. Believed to be in the same family as the Sap Sac, this plant has similar features. It bursts when exposed to force. This protective response keeps most creatures from feeding on it. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.5.) Auto Defense Turret (0055) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Auto Defense Turret Beam: Any Strategy: These guys don’t move and there is usually something for you to hide behind right next to them. Simply duck in and out of the hiding place firing charged beam shots or missiles. Scan: Multiple Morphology: An automatic turret that opens fire on any enemy that comes within its range. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.6.) Baby Sheegoth (0056) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Baby Sheegoth Beam: Plasma Beam Strategy: These guys are really annoying because the only place where they are vulnerable is their back. Pretty much you want to keep jumping around them firing off charged shots. These guys are really annoying at the start of the game but are easier and easier toward the end of the game. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Baby Sheegoth is a glacial predator with an ice shell that protects its vulnerable dorsal area. Young Sheegoths grow a resilient shell of ice on their backs. This serves to protect a layer of vulnerable flesh that eventually becomes a ridge of energy-absorbing crystal. Powerful hunters, they fire bursts of ultra-cold gas at potential prey, then feast on their frozen victim. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.7.) Barbed War Wasp (0057) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Barbed War Wasp Beam: Wave Beam Strategy: Just fire a charged wave beam at it and it is done, but they will keep coming back until the hive is destroyed. Scan: Multiple Morphology: An airborne insect with the evolved ability to launch its stinger at prey. The Barbed War Wasp is a highly aggressive member of the War Wasp family, this insect can propel the tip of its stinger up to 20 meters. The stinger tip regrows seconds after launch and contains an acidic compound designed to predigest prey. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.8.) Beetle (0058) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Beetle Beam: Any Strategy: Just used a charged beam attack once or twice and it is gone. Really only a problem before you get the charge beam. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A burrowing insect with a resilient carapace that's extremely aggressive. Beetle's massive mouth enables it to tunnel through solid rock at high speeds. Above ground, Beetles can cover short distances rapidly. They attack anything that moves near their lair. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.9.) Blastcap (0059) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Blastcap Beam: Any Strategy: Just shoot them with any beam from afar and they don’t do anything to you but if you attack from up close then you can be hurt by them when they explode. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Volatile chemicals within this weed's toxic fungal cap may explode if agitated. The poisonous flesh of the Blastcap helps keep it from being eaten. It also detonates its fungal cap when it senses even slight contact. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.10.) Bloodflower (0510) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Bloodflower Beam: Any Strategy: A real nuisance at the start of the game. They are invincible when its petals are closed, when the petals are upon they are vulnerable but shoot spores at you. What you want to do is shoot at it will dodging or shooting down the spores. If you can shoot down the spore close enough to it then it will be harmed. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Bloodflower is able to eject toxic spores. Toxins are poisonous even to the Bloodflower itself. Three mouth-nodules protrude from the stalk beneath the flower, each with a rudimentary brain cluster and the ability to spew toxic fumes at anything with a five- meter radius. The spores ejected from the Stigma at the center of the flower are sufficient to kill this creature if they explode in its vicinity. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.11.) Burrower (0511) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Burrower Beam: Any Strategy: A real nuisance no matter where you are in the game. The best strategy is to lock onto it and then shoot uncharged shots at it like mad. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A tunneling insect predator, the Burrower is similar to the beetle, though it prefers to spend more time underground. It seeks seismic disturbances, then surfaces to attack. It has enough cunning to realize when something is too large for it to handle. Beyond that, it is fairly ignorant. What it lacks in brains, it makes up for in aggression. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.12.) Chozo Ghost (0512) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Chozo Ghost Beam: Power Beam Strategy: The only beam that can harm these is the power beam. You can only see them while they are attacking you unless you use the X-RAY visor. The X-RAY visor really makes your job a lot easier when fighting more than one of these. Scan: Multiple Morphology: These supernatural entities' bioelectric field is invulnerable to natural energies. As these entities phase in and out of existence, the only way to track them accurately is with X-ray scanning. They are invisible to the naked eye and can only be seen as a wispy white spirit while they attack. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.13.) Crystallite (0513) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Crystallite Beam: Missiles or Plasma Beam Strategy: Until you have the plasma beam the only reason why you would want to destroy these is for power-ups. They can easily be dodged and do not even attack you. They only have to be killed if you want power- ups or just want to. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Crystallite is a territorial cold-weather scavenger. The shell of a Crystallite reflects beam weapons and can only be cracked by a concussive blast. They hang upside down in an ice cave during their larval stage. Moisture runs off its body and forms the hard ice shell, which the Crystallite retains for the rest of its life. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.14.) Elite Pirate (0514) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Elite Pirate Beam: Ice Beam Strategy: What you want to do is pretty much use missiles or charged ice beams on them while dodging their attacks. They pack a really hard punch but the attacks are somewhat easy to dodge. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Elite Pirate is an Phazon-enhanced Space Pirate. It's incredibly strong, well-armored, and heavily armed. Elite Pirates are potent foes. Their Energy Siphon system absorbs Beam weapon shots, which they use to fuel a massive Plasma Artillery Cannon. The nature of this system makes them vulnerable to concussion-based weapons. The Elite Pirate is effective in close combat and at a distance. Their massive size can be a weakness, and their sluggish speed allows for evasion and quick attacks. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.15.) Eyon (0515) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Eyon Beam: Any Beam Strategy: These can be disabled with a hit from any beam but in order to destroy them you need to use a charge beam. Pose little threat to you as they cannot move and are easily destroyed or disabled. Scan: Multiple Morphology: An immobile organism that's entirely composed of ocular tissue. The Eyon is capable of launching sustained energy beams when active. However, the Eyon is sensitive to light and will close shut if a bright flash ignites nearby. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.16.) Fission Metroid (0516) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Fission Metroid Beam: The color that it is Strategy: These guys are really annoying. You need to figure out what the original metroids vulnerability is through trial and error. Every time you have an error it splits into two new metroids. The easiest way is to notice what color it is and hit it with the appropriate beam. Every time that you hit one with the wrong beam it will split into two new metroids. Very annoying. Scan: Multiple Morphology: This is the Metroid with the ability to split into two forms. The Fission Metroid is a mutant, capable of splitting in two. This split endows the new creatures with invulnerability to most weaponry. This effect is unstable, resulting in weakness to a type of weapon fire. The vulnerability appears to be random, due to the chaotic nature of Phazon Mutation. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.17.) Flaahgra (0517) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Flaahgra Beam: Power Beam Strategy: Flaaghra is a massive bug thing. It has four mirrors points at it. He is invincible while any of the mirrors are pointed at him, but you are capable of stunning him by shooting some power beam shots at him. What you need to do is to shoot at the little red dots on the bottom of the mirrors that are points at him to shove them up. He will then fall to the ground. Then you need to go into morph ball mode and detonate a morph ball bomb at the end of the tunnels near his feet. As soon as all four of the tunnels are destroyed you win. Scan: Once Morphology: This mutant plant is the source of toxic water in the ruins. Flaahgra's growth cycle has been radically accelerated. As a result, it requires near-constant exposure to solar energy to remain active. This exposure has make Flaahgra's outer shell thick and durable. Concentrated weapon fire can daze it for short periods, but its lower root system is unprotected and vulnerable, however. Exploit this flaw when possible. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.18.) Flaahgra Tentacle (0518) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Flaahgra Tentacle Beam: None Strategy: This is just something to scan into you logbook. Scan: Once Morphology: One of Flaahgra's tentacles fills a narrow drainage channel in the Sun Chamber. Analysis indicates that Flaahgra's central nervous system may be located at the base of this structure. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.19.) Flickerbat (0519) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Flickerbat Beam: Wave Beam Strategy: It is rarely ever necessary to kill these guys. Pretty much just lock onto them and fire away with the wave beam. The X-RAY visor makes your job a lot easier. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Flickerbat is a scavenger with optical camouflaging that renders it invisible to the naked eye. Flickerbats are deceptive creatures. The only way to track them reliably is with X-ray imaging. They fly ceaselessly, hunting insects and other small prey that float on the air currents. Flickerbats tend to fly in cyclical hunting patterns, using primitive sonar to navigate. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.20.) Flying Pirate (0520) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Flying Pirate Beam: Any Strategy: These guys are hard if you are fighting more than one at a time. If you use a super missile then they will be gone in one hit although you can use anything against them. You usually will be able to see them before they get into the air. If you do then manually aim a super missile at them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Space Pirates equipped with thermal jetpacks. Flying Pirates are extremely agile in the air, but the heat signatures of their jetpacks can be tracked with thermal imaging. While their missiles are extremely potent, their jetpacks can be even more so. If the pack fails, they attempt a suicide strike. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.21.) Geemer (0521) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Geemer Beam: None Strategy: You can kill them so just avoid them, but they can harm you. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A Geemer is a wall-crawler with retractable spikes. It is an evolutionary offshoot of the Zoomer family. However, where the Zoomer is fairly vulnerable, the Geemer is invincible. When threatened, it extends lethal spikes and retracts its head deep into its armored carapace. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.22.) Glider (0522) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Glider Beam: None Strategy: Docile, they don’t hurt you, they are just used to get from an area to another. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Glider is a docile, airborne creature with unusual magnetic properties. Gliders live a relatively peaceful existence. They have a magnetic signature attuned to common Grapple Beam technology; the sport of 'Glider riding' involves using a Grapple to attach to a Glider, then attempting to stay on it as long as possible. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.23.) Grizby (0523) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Grizby Beam: Missile Strategy: They can be avoided and do little damage, they only way to dispatch them requires a missile. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A sub-volcanic carrion feeder, the Grizby's carapace has been fused together by super-heated air. This barrier stands up to everything but concussive blasts. Its intelligence is limited to instinctive scavenging patterns. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.24.) Hive Mecha (0524) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Hive Mecha Beam: Power Beam Strategy: It spews ram war wasps at you will you are fighting it. Just target the ram war wasps, and as soon as they are gone target the hive mecha itself. Scan: Once Morphology: Mecha security unit that's programmed to work with predatory hive dwellers. A design flaw makes the shielding on Hive Mecha weak around their access ports. These units are second- generation combat drones, able to interface with organic units at a higher level. They rain, shelter, and work hive-dwelling predators. Unarmed, they rely on their hive beasts to handle any threats. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.25.) Hunter Metroid (0525) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Hunter Metroid Beam: Ice Beam/Missile Strategy: An advanced and more powerful metroid. Just charge the ice beam up and then shoot them with a missile to get rid of them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Hunter Metroids are adolescent Metroids that have energy-siphon tentacles, making them increasingly dangerous. As Metroids develop, they become more efficient predators. And energy- draining tentacle allows them to attack at a distance. Quick to anger, a Hunter Metroid charges troublesome prey and attempt to ram them into submission. Cold-based attacks are quite effective against these creatures. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.26.) Ice Beetle (0526) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Ice Beetle Beam: Plasma Beam Strategy: Just shoot at them, they are not hard at all. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Ice Beetles are burrowing insects with an ice-reinforced carapace, and they have an aversion to heat of any kind. This member of the Beetle family has adapted to life in the subzero temperatures in the Phendrana Drifts, growing a thick ice shell over its entire body. The ice is extremely resilient, providing the Ice Beetle with extra protection and augmented digging abilities. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.27.) Ice Burrower (0527) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Ice Burrower Beam: Any Strategy: A real nuisance no matter where you are in the game. The best strategy is to lock onto it and then shoot uncharged shots at it like mad. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Ice Burrower is a hardy life form that has adapted to the frigid climate of Phendrana. It spends most of its time tunneling through the frozen soil, but occasionally surfaces to attack passers- by. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.28.) Ice Parasite (0528) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Ice Parasite Beam: Any Strategy: Too easy, just shoot them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A simple scavenger life-form that possesses a crystalline outer shell. Parasites are hardy creatures, able to adapt to any environment within three generations. The Ice Parasite is a prime example. Having adjusted to a frigid climate, this vermin now thrives in it. Omnivorous, it can exist in areas hostile to most life-forms. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.29.) Ice Shriekbat (0529) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Ice Shriekbat Beam: Power Beam Strategy: Just shoot like mad while tapping the lock-on button. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Ice Shriekbat is an ice-encased ceiling dweller. Like standard Shriekbats, these creatures are easily spotted with Thermal Imaging. They roost on cave ceilings, existing on a diet of insects, reptiles, and small mammals. Fiercely territorial, they dive-bomb anything that wanders near. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.30.) Ice Trooper (0530) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Ice Trooper Beam: Ice Beam Strategy: You can only harm them with the ice beam you missiles, use a combination of both of them. They are really only hard when you have to fight something along with it. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Ice Trooper is a Space Pirate armed with Ice Beam technology. Space Pirates have reverse-engineered several weapons, including the Ice Beam. A flaw in the design makes these pirates vulnerable to their own Beam Weapon system. These weapons are inferior to Chozo-designed originals, but still quite potent. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.31.) Incinerator Drone (0531) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Incinerator Drone Beam: Any Strategy: Basically it has a pattern and can be easy to dodge if you notice its pattern. You want to shoot the red light on the top any time that you can as many times as you can. If barbed war wasps start to come at you then kill them before you continue with the drone because they will hurt you a lot more than the drone will. Scan: Once Morphology: Device schematics indicate a high risk of malfunction when internal power core is exposed. This unit has minimal combat programming, but can defend itself if necessary. The intense heat blasts it shoots compensate for its lack of battle prowess. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.32.) Jelzap (0532) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Jelzap Beam: Missile Strategy: When the top separates from the bottom, shoot a missile at it, end of story. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Jelzap is an aquatic predator made of electrically bound skeletal halves. The Jelzap's brain is located in the upper half of its body, while the heart and digestive tract occupy the lower half. Linked only by electrical impulses, the two halves somehow function effectively enough to launch the Jelzap to the top of Tallon IV's aquatic food chain. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.33.) Lumigek (0533) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Lumigek Beam: Any Strategy: They hurt a lot if you jump into a swarm of them. You pretty much just want to try and kill off the whole swarm before moving on. Not a threat if you see where they are and avoid that spot while they are there. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Lumigeks are Phazon-charged reptiles. Natives of Tallon IV, the Lumigeks travel in swarms to increase their odds of survival. They absorb and radiate Phazon energy, making these swarms a threat. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.34.) Magmoor (0534) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Magmoor Beam: Any Strategy: Once you see one, back up, charge any beam and then walk forward shoot it and repeat until it is dead. Simple as that, they are really only a threat if they surprise you. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Magmoor is a fire-breathing serpent that dwells in the fiery depths of lava pools. Magmoors prefer extreme heat zones and are susceptible to frigid attack forms. Sightless, they navigate the lava currents using sonar receptors. Magmoors have a keen sense of smell, enabling them to pinpoint targets with startling accuracy. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.35.) Mega Turret (0535) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Mega Turret Beam: Missile Strategy: Just shoot missiles at it while dodging whatever it shoots at you. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Mega Turret is a perimeter defense turret that's reinforced with energy shielding. Frustrated with inferior armor playing on standard defense turrets, the Space Pirates added energy shielding to a modified heavy cannon. The new shielding and increased beam strength makes the Mega Turret an efficient point defense weapon. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.36.) Meta Ridley (0536) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Meta Ridley Beam: Anything Powerful Strategy: While he still has his wings you want to shoot it with super missiles and charged plasma beam shots while he is close. Just do that until he loses his wings. He is only vulnerable when his breastplate is open. Once it is a ground battle you want to dodge all of his attacks and shoot a missile at his mouth anytime that it is open. That will cause his breastplate to open, you then want to shoot as many missiles at him as you can. Just repeat this until he is dead. Scan: Once Morphology: A genetically enhanced Ridley metaform. Reborn and evolved through Pirate technology, Meta Ridley is a fearsome enforcer. Its armored hide is extremely resilient, save for the chest, which has thinner plating. The Pirates have fused a number of potent weapons to the creature, including a Multi-Missile System, a Kinetic Breath Weapon, a Meson Bomb Launcher, and an Ultrathermal Flamestrike Projector. Met Ridley is also a formidable melee combatant, making any sort of engagement a risky proposition. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.37.) Metroid (0537) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Metroid Beam: Ice Beam/Missile Strategy: Shoot them with the ice beam until frozen and then hit them with a missile, and then they are gone. Simple when it is one on one, otherwise it can be quite annoying. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Metroids are energy-based parasitic predators. The dominant species of planet SR388, Metroids can suck the life force out of living things. A Metroid latches onto its prey and drain energy, growing larger as it does. The only way to shake an attached Metroid is to enter Morph Ball mode and lay a Bomb. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.38.) Metroid Prime (0538) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Metroid Prime Beam: Whatever color its eyes are Strategy: Pretty much dodge its attacks and shoot the appropriate beam at it (you can tell from the color of its eyes) and pray. A really long and annoying battle although simple. Scan: Once Morphology: A highly evolved Phazon-producing life form. The aberration known as Metroid Prime is the source of Phazon, making it immensely powerful. A gigantic flaw makes it susceptible to certain weapons for brief periods. Only its head is truly vulnerable; other attacks are a nuisance. Offensively, Metroid Prime has a number of natural and mechanical weapons at its disposal. These include Ultra- frigid Breath, Multi-Missiles, Snare Beams, and Particle Wave Projectors. Its massive strength and barbed carapace make it lethal in melee combat. Recommend maximum firepower when engaging this enemy. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.39.) Metroid Prime (second form) (0539) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Metroid Prime (second form) Beam: Phazon Beam Strategy: This is your only chance to use the phazon beam in the whole game so use it. In fact the phazon beam is the only way to harm it as it is immune to every other weapon that you have. You can only use the phazon beam while you are standing in a phazon puddle. Pretty much just shoot at it and kill off the other metroids that it sends at you. Scan: Once Morphology: The core essence of Metroid Prime. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.40.) Oculus (0540) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Oculus Beam: Any Strategy: Shoot it, and it retracts into its shell and you can pass. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Oculus is a wall-crawler that generates electric pulses. The Oculus exposes its single eye when active. The electrical field that covers it is enough to deter most predators. If the Oculus detects anything capable of presenting a real threat, it retracts into its impermeable shell. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.41.) Omega Pirate (0541) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Omega Pirate Beam: All Strategy: Really annoying boss battle. It has phazon armor on it that will absorb all of your attacks. You want to destroy all of them while dodging its attacks. Pretty much just hit a shield with a super missile. Once that is through he will turn invisible so switch to the X-RAY visor and try to find him in one of the phazon pits. Once you find him shoot away with super missiles. He will then summon some other space pirates. Dispatch of them and then continue with all of this. Repeat all of this until he is dead. Scan: Once Morphology: The Omega Pirate is the most powerful of the Elite Pirate forces. Omega Pirate has the ability to become invisible to normal sight. It is vulnerable when cloaked, as all energy is drawn from defense systems. By exposing itself to Phazon, it can regenerate damaged tissue and organs. Considered the pinnacle of the Elite Pirate program, this enemy should be handled with extreme caution and maximum firepower. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.42.) Parasite (0542) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Parasite Beam: Anything Strategy: Just shoot them, although they do come in large groups they are easy nonetheless. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Parasite is an interstellar vermin that travels in swarms and is indigenous to Tallon IV. A single Parasite is harmless to larger life forms. However, they tend to travel in large groups, swarming over potential prey. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.43.) Parasite Queen (0543) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Parasite Queen Beam: Power Beam Strategy: Pretty much all that you need to do to defeat this boss is to shoot it through the force field. You cannot shoot it through the actual force field but rather through the gaps between the different sections. Just shoot it with the power beam or even missiles when you feel necessary while dodging the attacks. Scan: Once Morphology: Parasite female, genetically enhanced by unknown means. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.44.) Phazon Elite (0544) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Phazon Elite Weapon: All Strategy: Keep your distance from it while pelting it with super missiles and dodging its attacks. Just repeat this and you will be fine. This is no where near the hardest boss in the game, it is just annoying. Scan: Once Morphology: The Phazon Elite is a Space Pirate infused with energized Phazon. The Phazon-charged Elite Pirates rely more on their Wave Quake Generators, opting not to carry the vulnerable Plasma Artillery Cannons normally used by Elites. The direct fusing of Phazon into their bodies provides a tremendous level of energy. The drastically lower life span that comes with this process is of little concern to the Pirate Research team. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.45.) Plasma Trooper (0545) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Plasma Trooper Beam: Plasma Beam Strategy: Just shoot it with the plasma beam and it will die eventually, really only dangerous in large numbers. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Plasma Trooper is a Space Pirate that's armed with Plasma Beam technology. Space Pirates have reverse-engineered several weapons, including the Plasma Beam. A flaw in the design makes these Pirates vulnerable to their own Beam weapon system. These weapons are inferior to Chozo-designed originals, but still quite potent. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.46.) Plated Beetle (0546) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Plated Beetle Beam: Any Strategy: Just circle around it and fire any charged beam at its rear. The rear is the only area on it that is vulnerable because it is plated. Really easy to get rid of if you can get around it before it can charge you. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Plated Beetle is a burrowing insect with an impermeable carapace. This creature is only vulnerable in the rear abdomen. Unlike its lesser cousin, the Plated Beetle can repel frontal attacks. It prefers to impale its prey upon its six sharp horns. Only surfacing when it detects vibrations above, it then maneuvers itself so as always to face its rival, keeping its exposed abdomen protected. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.47.) Plated Parasite (0547) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Plated Parasite Beam: Power Bomb Strategy: You don’t even need to waste your power bombs on these guys as they are slow moving and move in a pattern so you can just skirt around them while you are in morph ball mode. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Hardy member of the Parasite family. Invulnerable to most weaponry. A cousin to the Parasite, these creatures are known for their amazing resilience. Field studies suggest a weakness to Morph Ball-delivered weapon systems. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.48.) Plated Puffer (0548) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Plated Puffer Beam: Charge Beam/Missile Strategy: Just stand away from them and hit them with a charge beam or missile to be sure to not get hit with the resulting explosion that comes with destroying them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A Plated Puffer is a mutated Puffer with a reinforced epidermis. Phazon exposure has created a mutant strain of Puffers on Tallon IV. They have developed plated skin, making them harder to burst. Concussive weapons can still do the job, however. The gas within the Plated Puffer is just as deadly as that within their 'cousins'. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.49.) Plazmite (0549) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Plazmite Beam: Any Strategy: Shoot them, they are way too easy but they do come in large numbers that can easily be destroyed. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Small insect capable of storing and releasing thermal energy. Plazmites are attracted to sources of heat, thriving on the energy present there. They emit light when hunting, and expel small bursts of thermal energy when threatened. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.50.) Power Trooper (0550) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Power Trooper Beam: Power Beam Strategy: If you shoot it with a super missile then it is done for. They are really easy if they are the only thing you have to worry about but get harder for every distraction that you have. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Power Trooper is a Space Pirate that's armed with Power Beam technology. Space Pirates have reverse-engineered several weapons, including the Power Beam. A flaw in the design makes these Pirates vulnerable to their own Beam weapon system. These weapons are inferior to Chozo-designed originals, but still quite potent. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.51.) Puddle Spore (0551) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Puddle Spore Beam: Any Strategy: This enemy is indestructible but like other indestructible enemies it helps you travel around. It will open up when you get near and if you don’t shoot it soon enough then it will fire a salvo of whatever it shoots at you. If you do shoot it in time then it will flip over for a few seconds and allow you to go by. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Puddle Spore is a sentient floating lava mollusk protected by an impenetrable shell. It opens when approached, attempting to intimidate with its size. When opened, direct fire to its mantle causes it to flip into a defensive position. If it can slam shut, it ejects a spread of harmful energy globules. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.52.) Puffer (0552) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Puffer Beam: Any Strategy: Just shoot it from afar because there is a small explosion when they are destroyed. Way to easy to get rid of although when there is one around there tends to be a whole room full of them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: An unstable gas-filled membrane, the Puffer ruptures on contact. Puffers fill their bodies with lethal metal-viprium gas and float about in search of food. If ruptured, the gas within the Puffer is violently released. Despite their fragile bodies, Puffers are aggressive hunters. The gas cloud they release on death is often fatal to the creature that brings them down as well. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.53.) Pulse Bombu (0553) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Pulse Bombu Beam: Charged Wave Beam Strategy: Just shoot it with a charged wave beam from afar to get rid of it. If you don’t have that yet then the explosions that they create can easily be dodged with a little skill. Morphology: A life-form of raw energy, the Pulse Bombu periodically releases explosive segments from its body. Pulse Bombus are energy beings invulnerable to most known weapons. Electrical energy can harm them, however. They lack any intelligence beyond an instinctive attraction to other charged energy sources. Pulse Bombus produce energy constantly. All excess energy is shed, regardless of who or what may be nearby. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.54.) Ram War Wasp (0554) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Ram War Wasps Beam: Any Strategy: It requires just one shot to get rid of them so do just that and then it will all be good. The wave beam is preferable because it will home in on these fast moving enemies. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Ram War Wasp is an airborne predator insect that circles its prey and strikes with others as a group. The War Wasps are the only species on Tallon IV to evolve a true hive mind. Nesting in damp, dark places, Ram War Wasps emerge in small groups when threatened and circle their enemy at high speeds, disorienting it. Striking from all sides, as a single intelligence, they can fell huge organisms with their tactics. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.55.) Reaper Vine (0555) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Reaper Vine Beam: Any Strategy: These cannot be destroyed but you can just shoot them and they will retract into their little hole for a few seconds allowing you to get by without getting hurt, although you can get by without shooting them but that is unnecessary. Morphology: A powerful rock-dwelling tentacle, it appears to be part of a much larger organism. A single eye upon the Reaper Vine keeps a constant vigil, but its vision is limited to 10 meters. A scythe-like appendage on its tip is honed to lethal sharpness. The Reaper Vine will swing this blade wildly at anything that enters its zone of perception. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.56.) Sap Sac (0556) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Sap Sac Beam: Any Strategy: These don’t even need to be destroyed but you can destroy them if you feel like you need the power ups that they give you, just don’t be too close to them when they are destroyed because they do explode. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A chemical reaction within the sac produces a violent explosion when agitated. Because of its irresistible odor and sweet nectar, the Sap Sac was nearly eaten out of existence. The evolution of an explosive chemical sac saved it, now only brave or ingenious creatures dare to devour it. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.57.) Scarab (0557) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Scarab Beam: Any Strategy: The swarms of these guys can be taken out with anything. Just shoot the general area of them rapidly and you will take most of them out. Plus they hardly even do any damage. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Scarabs are exploding parasites that can embed their bodies into solid rock. Scarabs think nothing of sacrificing themselves for the safety of their swarm. When a hostile life-form is sighted, they block its progress by embedding themselves in floors and walls. Embedded Scarabs violently self-destruct when threatened. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.58.) Scatter Bombu (0558) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Scatter Bombu Beam: Charged Wave Beam Strategy: Until you do have the wave beam just roll past them in morph ball mode although you are likely to get hurt in the process. With the charged wave beam just shoot them and it gets the job done. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Pulsing tendrils of energy extend from the creature's body. Like all Bombus, these creatures can only be harmed by electrical energy. Proximity to these life-forms may result in electrical Visor interference. It is possible to avoid engaging Scatter Bombus by rolling into the Morph Ball and slipping between the rotation energy streams. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.59.) Seedling (0559) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Seedling Beam: Any Strategy: Just keep your distance and shoot these creatures that are attached to the ceiling and the walls. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A plant-based ground feeder, its dorsal spines can be ejected in self defense. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.60.) Sentry Drone (0560) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Sentry Drone Beam: Any Strategy: Just shoot them while keeping your distance as they explode when you finally destroy them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Sentry Drone is a well-armed and armored security mechanoid. Sentry Drones have limited intelligence, but do their assigned tasks well. Being machines, they are susceptible to electrical attacks. When alerted, Drones initiate a security lockdown, then attempt to neutralize the intruder. Their electronic warfare suit can scramble Visor technology as well. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.61.) Shadow Pirate (0561) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Shadow Pirate Beam: Any Strategy: The only way that you can see these annoying enemies is with the thermal visor or the X-RAY visor. They can’t shoot you from afar but slash you up close. They are really annoying as there usually is more than one of them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Shadow Pirates are Pirate forces that are trained and equipped for stealth operations. A select group of Space Pirates have access to sophisticated cloaking technology. This gear drains high levels of power, however, forcing them to rely solely on melee weapons in battle. Use enhanced detection gear when fighting these units. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.62.) Sheegoth (0562) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Sheegoth Beam: Any Strategy: Just keep your distance from this and pepper it with missiles and charged beam attacks and you will be good just so long as you don’t get too close to it. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A glacial predator that reigns supreme in the icy landscape of the Phendrana drifts. Sheegoths are difficult to harm, though intense heat seems to have a lasting effect on them. Their mouth is a weak spot, the only place on its body that can be hit without the shots being deflected or absorbed. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.63.) Shriekbat (0563) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Shriekbat Beam: Any Strategy: Either shoot all of them out of the air while they are coming at you or just step out of the way. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Shriekbat is a territorial ceiling dweller. Body temperature peaks at 121 centigrade. Shriekbats have high internal temperature, making them easy to spot with thermal imaging. They roost on cave ceilings while hunting for small prey. Fiercely territorial, they dive-bomb anything that wanders near. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.64.) Space Pirate (0564) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Space Pirate Beam: Any Strategy: Really easy just shoot them while dodging their attacks and keeping your distance. The once encountered at the start of the game are easier than the ones that appear later on. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Space Pirate is a sentient aggressor species that is well trained in weapon and melee combat. Space Pirates wield Galvanic Accelerator Cannon and forearm-mounted Scythes in combat. This species seeks to become the dominant force in the galaxy, and their technology may help them realize this goal. Ruthless and amoral, the Pirates care little for the cost of their ambition. Only the results matter, and they take these very seriously. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.65.) Stone Toad (0565) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Stone Toad Beam: Morph Ball Bomb Strategy: All that you have to do is get close enough to be eaten by it and lay a morph ball bomb while you are in its mouth. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Stone Toad preys on creatures smaller than itself, and is vulnerable only from within. A Stone Toad is able to remain still for days. It preys upon creatures smaller than itself, inhaling them whole. Anything it finds indigestible, it regurgitates. Stone Toads use their tusks as a last resort in combat. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.66.) Tallon Crab (0566) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Tallon Crab Beam: Any Strategy: Shoot them. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The Tallon Crab is a crustacean that's native to Tallon IV. A hard-shelled swarm life form that was once harvested for food, the Tallon Crab's exposure to Phazon has seen this practice diminish. These creatures are timid and harmless alone, but can be a problem when traveling in swarms. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.67.) Tangle Weed (0567) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Tangle Weed Beam: Any Strategy: You can shoot it to make it retract into the ground so that you can go by at normal speed, but it doesn’t do any damage to you it just slows you down during morph ball mode. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Plant life with basic sentience. Retracts into the ground if threatened. Tangle Weeds are only dangerous to small organisms. They are covered in tiny barbs designed to trap potential meals. Tangle Weeds lack the strength to do anything more than hinder larger lifeforms. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.68.) Thardus (0568) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Thardus Beam: All Strategy: A really annoying boss. You pretty much want to dodge his attacks and shoot down the rocks that he throws at you so that you can get power-ups. Use two super missiles to destroy each of the seven phazon boulders. If you run out of missiles than just use the charge beam. Scan: Once Morphology: Thardus is an animated, sentient creature of stone charged with Phazon radiation. The Phazon radiation given off by Thardus negates Auto-Targeting systems, preventing lock-on. It may be possible to acquire alternate targets with a different Visor. The chaotic nature of Phazon-irradiation leads to instability in its structural integrity. Thardus can encase targets in ice, and its colossal size and strength make it a formidable opponent. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.69.) Triclops (0569) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Triclops Beam: Morph Ball Bomb Strategy: What you want to do is to lay a morph ball bomb in front of it just before it tries to suck you into its mouth and then roll away. If done correctly then the morph ball bomb will explode in its mouth and it will die. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A hard-shelled creature with powerful jaws. The Triclops is a hunter-gatherer. It collects small creatures and bits of foodstuff, then deposits them elsewhere for later consumption. The hard tripartite mandibles it uses to move earth and rock are quite strong and difficult to escape. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.70.) Venom Weed (0570) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Venom Weed Beam: Any Strategy: These are exactly like the tangle weed except they will slow you down and hurt you. Handle them like a dangerous tangle weed, and they cannot be destroyed also. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Venom Weed is a poisonous plant that retracts into the ground if threatened. Venom Weeds evolved to thrive in the habitats of large organisms. They lure prey with brightly colored leaves, then attack with tiny barbs that deliver a powerful toxin. Venom Weeds rapidly decompose anything that succumbs in their midst. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.71.) War Wasp (0571) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: War Wasp Beam: Wave Beam Strategy: Just shoot an uncharged wave beam at it and it will be gone, there is always more than one of them around. Scan: Multiple Morphology: The War Wasp Hive is the primary dwelling for War Wasps, and is only vulnerable to heavy weaponry. War Wasps build their homes over existing crevices, using whatever materials are close at hand. They carry building fragments back to the construction site with their forelegs, and glue them into place with adhesives secreted from their abdomens. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.72.) War Wasp Hive (0572) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: War Wasp Hive Beam: Missile Strategy: Just shoot this immobile enemy to stop it from creating war wasps. You just need to get close to it, it doesn’t even require a direct hit to destroy. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.73.) Wave Trooper (0573) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Wave Trooper Beam: Wave Beam Strategy: The only thing that works against these guys is the wave beam so use it. Not that hard by itself, but it is hard when there is more than one of them or there are other distractions around you. Scan: Multiple Morphology: A Space Pirate armed with Wave Beam technology. Space Pirates have reverse-engineered several weapons, including the Wave Beam. A flaw in the design makes these Pirates vulnerable to their own Beam weapon system. These weapons are inferior to Chozo-designed originals, but still quite potent. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |5.74.) Zoomer (0574) | \---------------------------------------------------------------------/ Name: Zoomer Beam: Any Strategy: Just shoot at it until it dies, not all that hard. Scan: Multiple Morphology: Anchors itself to walls and other surfaces. Avoid contact with the Zoomer's spines. A basic nerve center located directly above the Zoomer's mandibles detects nutrients. Sharp spines protect it from casual predators, but the lack of reinforced carapace makes the Zoomer vulnerable to any indirect attacks. /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ |6.)
