Subj : Timely Messages To : MIKE POWELL From : Daryl Stout Date : Mon Nov 20 2017 09:00:00 Mike, MP>I don't think that the posts being timely is an issue. I can understand MP>the logic there. However, for those of us that keep up with the echo, a MP>month is recent enough that we still remember it from when we read it a MP>month ago. :) That's true...but there's no utility to spread the posts out for 2 months at a time...and it'd require way too much effort to reformat all that into a Today In History post. So, I'm going to go through, and zap those posts altogether, except for the following: 1) Today In History -- for weather history, pun history, Classic Burma Shave Ads, Bloopers, Bible Verse, Random Quotes, and QWK Taglines. 2) Latest News from the Sophos "Naked Security" blog on malware, etc. 3) BBS Ads on my system (posted at max 2 or 3 times a week...not several times a day). 4) Ham Radio Bulletins from Amateur Radio Station W1AW, and Amateur Radio Newsline. 5) The Doctor Is In -- a local READ ONLY message area, on medical issues. If folks want the files of jokes and other info, they can just download them from the BBS. But, at least it's not the SAME THING EVERY DAY, like in most of the BBS Ad echoes. I've seen several systems that post the promo message of thei BBS more than once a day!! In that regard, I think no more than 2 or 3 times a week is sufficient. In fact, some of the BBS Ad Echo moderators have set a limit on 2 times a week, but some still violate that rule. Daryl === þ OLX 1.53 þ Microsoft Tech Support For Legacy Windows??
