This past Friday night, I busted my Synth Battle Royale [1] cherry
and joined fellow sdf members, abortretryfail, iiogama, ldbeth, and
smj in making synth sounds on aNONradio. I thought I wasn't going to
make it since I tuned in late, but they still allowed me to join. :)

My setup was not ideal and my mic did not work. I also couldn't
really hear myself well since I had an earphone in one ear attached
to my cobbled mixer setup and the delayed aNONradio broadcast in the
other ear since I couldn't really tell if my audio levels were OK or
if I was transmitting or not. I started hearing myself...a high
pitched tone, and so I proceeded to mess with the synths.

I had the Werkstatt-01 and the PO-12 (rhythm) connected to the
KeyStep 37, with the audio going to a mixer and the output over to a
Raspberry Pi 4, like last time I was messing with this. [2] Quite
frankly, I don't really know what I'm doing and just playing around
with the instruments. I'll eventually learn how to use them in a more
intentional way, but for the time being, I'm just having fun making
noise and exploring the different functions without understanding too
much of how the sausage is being made. That can come later. Then
again, maybe that's why I still don't know much about music theory.

If you are interested in hearing the battle, you can find it in the
       aNONradio M E M O R E X [3]. My Round 1 trainwreck starts around
00:40:39 and my Round 2 is around 01:31:45. Archives of past SBR
shows are available at the aNONradio.net site as well.

If you would like to hear Synth Battle Royale live or even
participate, be sure to tune in on Saturdays at 0300 UTC during open
mic! Join in the chat in COM[mode] with the dambgudcyberchatterz
of the Internet's basement. COM[mode] is available with your free
       UNIX shell account at sdf.org.

If synths are not your thing, there is open mic [4] where you can
be the DJ, do spoken word, play a different instrument, read poetry,
sing karaoke, etc. Be sure to check the programming schedule on
the main aNONradio page for times.
