Kapernick took this time as an opportunity to protest police brutality by kneeling and "taking a knee" in protest during the ceremony. He did this to get people's attentoin, and sure enough he recieved more than his share of negative attention because it was revered as being disrespectful during a time when most reflect on those who served and died to protect our nation, and celebrate our freedom. The NFL is pretty strict on how athletes promote personal political and charities on the field, and some believe "on the field" includes being on the field creating a distraction during a period of respect. Some argue and say they don't go to an event for the opening ceremony and don't care, and that's fine. There's enough people who disagreed and showed they can hurt the NFL financially. It boils down to how hypocritical things appear when a large money driven organization goes "woke" and their sudden awareness of social justice appears to be pandering to a specific group. If a player wants my attention to a cause, take a knee during the game, especially during a play. --- þ Synchronet þ The Cave BBS - Since 1992 - cavebbs.homeip.net .
